High-Tech Fire Pit Keeps You Warm at Outdoor Eggnog Parties

With winter in full swing, most people have moved their parties indoors. But if you're like us, nothing beats kicking back a few drinks on an outdoor patio with some close friends. Before you give in to Mother Nature and her cooler temperatures, consider investing in the Cal Flame G5000 fire pit and cocktail table. According to Born Rich, this heavenly creation features a round, glass tabletop around which as many as six people can huddle, and it's perfect for holding all those essential cold-weather drinks and snacks. Underneath, faux logs and lava rocks sit in the base of the pit, which features a 55,000 BTU burner.

But if you want to keep the party going outdoors with this fancy furniture, it'll cost you a large chunk of change. The Cal Flame G5000 retails for a whopping $6,900, and the addition of optional bar stools only increases the cost. Let's hope the recession hasn't put a hurting on good ol' St. Nick, because our Christmas wish list just got a lot more pricey. [From: Born Rich, via Oh Gizmo!]

Car Tech, Green Tech

New Electro-Pulse Technology Could De-Ice Your Car in Seconds

De-Icing in Seconds with Electro-Pulse Technology
On a cold, frosty morning, having to go out and start your car a few minutes early to get the de-icer working is a drag. So, too, is breaking out the window scraper and hacking away, causing your fingers slowly to go numb. A new tech could remove that delay, literally blowing the ice off of your car in seconds with a 20,000-kilowatt electro-pulse!

The tech is currently being used on the 489-foot-tall Uddevalla bridge in Sweden, and also on a glass dome in Moscow. Instead of using wires that slowly warm and melt the ice, an electric surge of 20,000-kilowatts per square meter causes the ice to detach from the surface, quickly falling away. It's believed the tech could also be applied to cars, where it would actually save energy by not having to let your car run so long while the ice melts, but we're not entirely sure just how many intact fuses you'd have left after a jolt like that. SLICER Lets You Go Sledding in Winter or Summer

Sledding is an activity usually relegated to the winter months. For the tirelessly persistent among you, however, the SLICER sled is trying to make it a year-round pursuit. On the bottom of the sled sits a set of removable 'ICERs', as well as the accompanying molds; you place the ICERs in the molds, fill them with water, and then put them in the freezer for one to two days. The result is essentially a set of ice blocks with the ICERs inside, which you can easily attach to the underside of the sled.

And so yes, this means that for $69.99 you can actually sled down a grassy hill in the dead of summer. Fighting mother nature has never been this fun! Or dangerous! [From OhGizmo]

Computers

Keep Warm While Typing with USB-Heated Gloves

As winter approaches and office workers start to complain about irritatingly cold work spaces, two things happen: Folks whine about their frozen fingers for all of those typos, and folks who work outside for a living roll their eyes.

Thanks to these USB-heated gloves from Perpetual Kid (and GeekSugar.com, for hipping us to them), you can at least take care of the first problem. Each glove -- fingerless to facilitate typing -- comes with its own USB connector and warmth control, making these gloves the perfect compliment to the USB-powered shawl.

As for the aforementioned second problem, we'd just recommend that you not show these cyber-mittens to your construction working buddies. [From: GeekSugar.com]
