Print Your Picture on a Shower Curtain

Are you having a tough time finding something to do with that perfect photograph you took while on summer vacation? What about that picture of your significant other sitting on the front porch? Still searching for just the right spot in the house to place that photo of your dog swimming in the lake?

Well, if you're struggling with these questions, the folks over at PhotoShowerCurtain.com (which seems to have run out of bandwidth with all this newfound attention) can offer a little help. Just choose between a custom tub curtain ($199) or a custom stall curtain ($149), send in your image, and two-to-four weeks later, you'll receive a shower curtain emblazoned with the picture of your choice. The shower curtains will not fade or crack, according to the Boing Boing Gadgets blog, even if machine washed.

According to the Web site, high resolution images (minimum 2,000 pixels) in clear focus with adequate contrast between the subject and foreground work best. Digital images taken with a 3 megapixel or higher quality camera work well, too.

In this hyper-personalized world, we think this product is a unique way to decorate your bathroom, if not a great way to show off your photography skills. [From: PhotoShowerCurtain.com and Boing Boing Gadgets blog]

Best. Shower. Ever.

Best. Shower. Ever.

Look, we like showering as much as the next guy, but we yearn for something newer, more exciting, shinier, and horrendously more expensive in the personal hygiene world. That's why we got so excited when we saw the Aquapeutics Luxury Steam Shower U6810.

Now, we're sure some of you are wondering, "What absurd contraptions could possibly be crammed into that thing that looks like a suspended-animation pod from a crappy sci-fi movie?" Well, we'll tell you. It has: its own water heater (in case your household one isn't powerful enough); a touch-screen, waterproof TV; a waterproof MP3 sound system; a powerful steam generator; overhead lights; "acupuncture" massage jets (does it shoot water out hard enough to break the skin?); in-tub massage jets, like a jacuzzi; a foot massager; underwater LED lights; and a self-cleaning sterilization mode. Oh, and a shower head.

And imagine, you can climb inside this human-scale dishwasher for only $4,300. The downside is that this thing uses so much power you might need a small nuclear generator in your backyard just to run it. [From: DVICE]

Politician Posts Nude Shower Pics on Her Facebook Page

Politicians are notoriously antiseptic characters (at least in public), so it was a shock when we found out that Daisy Tourne, Interior Minister of Uruguay, had posted a picture of herself in the shower on her Facebook page.

The picture alone is enough to make headlines, but it gets better. The caption below the picture elegantly states "there is nothing more natural than a woman in a shower." How awesome is that!?

Public criticism from fellow politicians both past and present has been fierce, but we won't concentrate on those squares. Instead we'll leave you with a quote from ruling party lawmaker Victor Semproni, who said "I'm thinking about taking a photo of myself in the shower, but a full body shot."

We have two simple questions. What is in the water down there? And where can we get some? [From: Telegraph.co.uk]

Airline Introduces In-Flight Showers

Emirates Airlines first class suite

What if it's not enough to have your own private suite (see image above) on your flight from New York to the Middle East? Leave it to Emirates Airlines, out of Dubai, to top its own first-class offering. The airline has announced its new Airbus A380 jets will be the first in commercial use to provide first-class passengers with an in-flight shower. Sounds like a nice, refreshing way to improve that approximately 12 1/2 hour flight, but be ready to shell out nearly $18,000 for the privilege.

The showers will first be introduced on the airline's Dubai to New York City direct route on October 1, but plans are in place to expand the luxury perk across Emirates' entire fleet of 50 A380s.

The showers cost much more than money, though, according to an environmental watchdog group called "Plane Stupid," which cites the enormous carbon footprint for this kind of over-the-top extravagance. The showers will require an extra ton of water to be transported onboard -- the same as having 12 extra passengers come along for the ride -- and will have carbon cost of 48,455 pounds for every flight.

Despite the cost and environmental impact, we'd still prefer a high-end shower as opposed to a flight attendant dousing us with water.

Shower Has Sensor That Saves Water

You know the routine. You wake up. Walk to the bathroom. Turn on the shower. Go to the Bathroom. Take off your robe. Step into shower. Curse at water that still isn't hot. All the while, water is being wasted by the gallons. It is a widespread ritual and consequently a widespread problem. Evolve, manufacturer of eco-friendly shower heads, has created a solution by introducing ShowerStart technology.

ShowerStart Technology turns the water streaming from the the shower head into a trickle once the water has warmed to 95 degrees. This simple process saves gallons of water, not to mention the energy needed to heat it. Once you have completed your morning routine of stagnation and frustration, just get in the shower and flick a switch to regain normal water flow.

You will still have to wait for your shower to heat up, but at least now you won't be wasting water. We realize that this will be of little consolation at 6 a.m. on a freezing spring morning.
