We are a proudly, deeply thrifty lot, no doubt about it. We're just as devoted to bargains as we are to selecting gear that offers maximum flexibility. Thus, we love Panasonic's Lumix DSM-TS2, a ruggedized, waterproof compact that is the camera equivalent of a room full of yoga masters.
The TS2 is a solid 14-megapixel point-and-shooter, making crisp shots and video a breeze even for amateurs, ...

If you're in the market for a new TV this holiday season, you're in luck; major electronics manufacturers are slashing prices left and right.
On Friday, Sony announced that it had abandoned all hope of turning a profit this year, while Panasonic predicted that its TV prices will drop even further during this fiscal quarter. The announcements come on the heels of similarly pessimistic outlooks ...

Video game insiders continue to anoint online, mobile gaming as the future of the industry. Carving a niche in the increasingly crowded handheld marketplace, though, presents a formidable challenge for manufacturers. Nintendo's enormously popular DS continues to outsell home consoles (while having a 3-D model on the way), and Sony's PSP remains a highly profitable item.
While major ...

Panasonic is set to unveil this entirely non-threatening, hair-washing robot at the International Home Care & Rehabilitation Exhibition in Tokyo next month. Designed for the elderly in assisted living facilities, the 'bot works in conjunction with a mechanical bed that transforms into a wheelchair, thereby preventing granny from shouting racial slurs at the orderlies (or, "easing the burden ...

Despite promising prospects, music streaming site Lala failed to carve a successful niche in its highly competitive market. Apple recently absorbed the struggling site and will officially, and permanently, close Lala's doors May 31st. The news isn't all bad, though, as subscribers will be still able to listen to tunes until that ...

The 3-D TV movement is rapidly gaining momentum and the excitement over the new technology is beginning to translate into real and tangible results. A reader writes: My wife treats digital cameras like they're disposables, so once again I'm in charge of finding her next victim. Since I know I'll be in this position again by the end of summer, what's my best option for a camera that takes great pictures, is simple as pie to use, and is cheap enough that it won't make me cry when she inevitably busts it -- say under $150 or so? I've ...

3-D has been unavoidable this year, but most of the discussion centers around what we may (or may not) be watching, not the production end. We dropped by Panasonic's booth to check out its twin-lens Full HD 3D camcorder. Though $21K might seem a bit stiff, Panasonic claims it's significantly cheaper than most pro-level 3-D camcorders, making a home-brewed version of 'Avatar' that much closer to ...

It seems like only yesterday, but it was way back at CES 2008 that Panasonic debuted its now positively quaint-looking, 150-inch, "world's largest" TV. Since no one else was challenging its record-sized commercially available television, Panasonic took it upon itself to up the ante, announcing a new 152-inch set and breaking its previous record by a whopping two inches!
At over 12 feet and over ...

Question: I'm planning a vacation with my wife and kids this summer, and I want one camera to cover it all. Something small enough to take around with us wherever we go, and most importantly, super durable and waterproof so we can take it to the beach without giving daddy a heart attack. Any suggestions?
Hey reader: "Tough" cameras have definitely been the rage lately, with several of the ...
