Highlights from this morning's other big tech headlines....
Echoing what everyone on the Web has known for three years, Rupert Murdoch has reportedly admitted that his News Corp. organization "made some mistakes" with MySpace. (Ya think?) He also proclaimed that the "iPad will lead a revolution." He was, of course, only talking about a monetary revolution, saying, "Unlike Kindle, we keep ...

Leave it to Oprah to bring a tear to our eye. On her show yesterday, film critic Roger Ebert, who recently lost his voice to thyroid and jaw cancer, sampled his brand new and remarkably realistic voice synthesizer. With his wife by his side, Ebert speaks for the first time with his new voice module, and admits, "It still needs improvement, but at least it sounds like me." As you can see in ...

When Oprah posted her first tweet back in April, traffic to Twitter increased by an incredible 43-percent. Even though the daytime diva's activity has steadily declined like that of so many others, she, or someone paid by her, continues to tweet, albeit sporadically. Last week, Oprah hosted her one-time protege Dr. Phil (video after the break) on her own show, where the two discussed their ...

In the world of network television, show producers have millions of dollars at their disposal. As such, they can usually swing some high-tech equipment to make sure that when guests appear on video from some other part of the world, they do so with a high-quality video and audio signal. Oprah, despite her millions (billions?), is forgoing all that in favor of Skype, the free online telephone and ...

Skype software enables its users to instant message, talk, and conduct video conversations anywhere in the world, completely for free. Fans of Oprah were introduced to the computer program on her show a year ago, and the media mogul uses the service to converse face-to-face with guests, fans, and even bears. On Thursday, May 21st, Skype president Josh Silverman will visit 'Oprah' to discuss the ...

Despite Oprah's attempts to prove her technical cognizance, including her recent foray into Twitter, the media mogul apparently still needs some gadget aid. Tasked with writing a tribute to First Lady Michelle Obama for Time Magazine's Time 100 list, Oprah recently told a crowd of reporters gathered at New York City's Jazz at Lincoln Center that she initially wrote the piece on her BlackBerry. ...

Do you cringe every time you hear the word 'Twitter?' Maybe gag a little bit whenever someone mentions 'Oprah' and 'tweeting' in the same sentence? Patience, Twitter haters; the cacophony of tweets may be dying down. Despite the media's infatuation with the social networking site, Nielsen Online is reporting that 60-percent of Twitter's first-time visitors give up on tweeting after a single ...

Twitter's popularity has steadily climbed since its inception, and, as of last week, Oprah Winfrey may have finally pushed the micro-blogging site to its media saturation point. According to Hitwise, a media tracker, Twitter traffic skyrocketed 43-percent from the previous Friday's numbers after the Big O's inaugural tweet this past Friday. The Web trackers also contend that 37-percent of ...

Earlier today, we wrote about a monumental turning point in Twitter's history. No, the site hasn't been purged of its chronic downtime (fail whale), and obnoxious "social networking media marketing mavens" haven't been banished; instead, the All-Powerful Oprah began tweeting (@oprah). The day-time hostess announced yesterday via Facebook that she would begin using the microblogging site today. ...

Yesterday, at approximately 2:10 p.m. EST, Oprah Winfrey announced her entry into Twitter society via a post on her Facebook page. Less than two hours later, she already had upwards of 33,000 Twitter followers. According to TechCrunch, Oprah will welcome Ashton "King of Twitter" Kutcher to today's show, from whence she will emit her very first tweet. Apparently, Kutcher has pledged to donate ...
