There's a new scam floating around Facebook and, like so many before it, it's spreading via a series of absurd wall posts. The latest spammy posts to hit the social network read: "Facebook will close down all accounts today. The announcement was made by Mark Zuckerberg -- Facebook owner." The message also invites users to click on a link, in order to keep their accounts active. Of course, ...

Last night, 'Social Network' star Jesse Eisenberg kicked off the Saturday Night Live monologue (video after the break). A sweatshirted Andy Samberg joined the Academy Award nominee onstage to compare Zuckerberg acting techniques -- "I speak in short clipped sentences, and keep my head very still" -- while the show cut to Lorne Michaels and Mark Zuckerberg himself offstage. Sure enough, the real ...

A cheeky hacker got a hold of the Mark Zuckerberg fan page on Facebook and decided it was time to poke a little fun at Zuck and his cash-saturated social network. The sneaky critic posted a message that appeared to come directly from the CEO on the page.
Let the hacking begin: If facebook needs money, instead of going to the banks, why doesn't Facebook let its users invest in Facebook in a ...

Pop star Katy Perry swung by Facebook headquarters the other day for a live chat with Randi Zuckerberg and a tour of the offices. The starlet snapped copious amounts of photos, and indulged in the office's Nacho Wednesday menu at the Facebook Cafe. Of course, no celebrity visit to Facebook would be complete without a meet-and-greet session with Mr. Facebook himself, Mark Zuckerberg. The ...

We said, ages ago, 'The Social Network' might actually be a great movie. It seems that the Hollywood Foreign Press are apt to agree. (For the record: we are available for any of your critical/predictive needs, Hollywood. Just throwing that out there.) Last night, 'The Social Network' took home the Golden Globe for Best Picture -- Drama, which is an impressive feat, especially since the Globes are ...

It's pretty clear that Mark Zuckerberg has about zero interest in wearing anything outside of his trademark, t-shirt/jeans/hoodie ensemble. But Esquire, for one, thinks the Facebook CEO should seriously consider investing in some new threads.
The magazine recently listed Zuck among the worst-dressed celebrities of 2010, ranking him alongside Robert Pattinson and John Mayer in its '2010 ...

Last month, Facebook introduced its new profile layout as an optional feature for users interested in a more photo-heavy, browsing-friendly display. Now, the social network has begun rolling out the redesigned profile for all users, much to the chagrin of many Facebook traditionalists.
Over the course of the next couple of days, all users will see their profiles automatically converted to ...

Calm down, world. Contrary to the rumors that may have sprouted up in your news feed, Facebook will not shut down on March 15th, and Mark Zuckerberg is not suffering a nervous breakdown of Shakespearean proportions.
As Sophos explains, the rumor appears to have originated from a site called Weekly World News -- where, it should be noted, you can also read about Mike Tyson's pigeon ...

Due to Facebook's astronomical ascent over the last several years, demands for the site to open its fiercely protected financial records have intensified. According to CNET, those calls may soon be heeded. Goldman Sachs, which just dropped $500 million in the Facebook coffers, has apparently been privately offering sweet Facebook stock deals to its "deep-pocketed clients."
If more than 500 ...

A hacker just had a little fun at the expense of Kenyan law enforcement. An as-of-yet unidentified prankster hacked kenyapolice.go.ke and replaced the site with simple text that read: "Got in and all i could think about was zuckerberg!!! This' for you Mark!" The hacker's tribute to the Facebook founder also changed the title of the page, so that, instead of reading "Welcome to the Kenya Police ...

DealBook is reporting that Facebook has received $500 million from Goldman Sachs and another Russian firm, as part of a deal that valued the social network at $50 billion. That valuation places Mark Zuckerberg's company ahead of eBay, Yahoo and Time Warner, and may put some additional pressure on Zuck to finally take Facebook public. When he does, expect Goldman to be by his side. ...

Is it just us, or did 2010 seem like an abnormally long year? Of course, it was no longer than any other year in history. But, from a tech perspective, at least, this year saw more seismic changes and game-altering developments than any other in recent memory. From Android to Zuckerberg, 'FarmVille' to Foursquare, iPad to iPhone 4, 2010 certainly wasn't short on memorable moments. Here are 15 ...

Mark Zuckerberg is in China this week, and he's already met with the CEO of the country's largest search engine, Baidu. Zuck's intentions, though, are unclear. Facebook hasn't yet tapped into the nation's huge social networking market. Speculations that Facebook may bend to the government's censorship requirements are premature, though, as the company would likely face a serious backlash. ...

Time magazine anointed Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as its 'Person of the Year' yesterday, much to the surprise of many (but not all). The 26-year-old became the youngest person to take home the honor since the magazine chose Charles Lindbergh in 1927. Zuckerberg beat out runners-up Hamid Karzai, the Tea Party, the Chilean miners, and, most notably, Julian Assange.
Time's editors wrote that ...

It's not a good week to be a Winklevoss. Today, Time magazine crowned Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as its 'Person of the Year,' just a few days after the embattled brothers launched a new legal campaign against their former Harvard classmate and longtime nemesis. And, as if that didn't rub enough salt in their wounds, they now have an entirely new courtroom war to wage, against a guy who ...
