EMT Posts Murder Victim Photo on Facebook, Gets Fired

On the list of stupid things to post to Facebook, photos from a murder scene have to be right up there at the top. Apparently, this never occurred to Mark Musarella, a now-former emergency medical technician (EMT) at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, New York.

While on EMT duty on March 30, the 46-year-old retired police officer was called to a murder in the West Brighton area of New York's forgotten borough. According to Fire Chief, while he was on the scene, he snapped a few pics of the 26-year-old victim, Caroline Wimmer, lying dead on the floor of her apartment with the cord of a hairdryer wrapped around her throat. For some inexplicable reason, Musarella turned right around and posted the images on his Facebook page -- as expected, he was swiftly fired by the hospital and the NYPD was notified.

What's worse, one source told the Staten Island Advance that Musarella may not have even learned his lesson: Although the murder scene picture has been taken down, someone with access to his profile told the newspaper that Musarella's Facebook page still had a photo from a car crash he may have responded to.

If you have to be told that posting photos of a murder scene is inappropriate, then something is clearly wrong. [From: SI Live, via: Fire Chief]

UK Teacher Reprimanded for Online Thong Pics

Natasha Gray, a P.E. teacher at Manor Community College in Cambridge, England, has landed herself in a bit of hot water for posting provocative photos of herself, wearing a thong, on the modeling Web site iModel.com.

Gray, voted the UK's sexiest teacher on a television show in 2002, has been soliciting modeling work on the side through iModel, where the eight risqué images were posted. Ben Slade, headteacher of Manor Community College, said that Miss Gray would not be suspended, but did say that he had asked her to remove the photos, telling her that publishing such images is completely inappropriate for someone in her position.

While all this certainly wasn't the brightest move on Gray's part, the pictures aren't pornographic. And, despite Slade's apparent moral indignation, Manor Community College certainly didn't seem to object when Gray was parading herself around on stage, in revealing outfits, for that iTV show. Colbert to Viera: "I Have Twatted."

If you're like us you're probably a little sick of hearing about Twitter and all its social networky ramifications, such as causing mistrials, killing job offers, and even burning down houses. It seems 2008's 'Webby Person of the Year' Stephen Colbert is not immune to the craze, and its corrupting influence isn't limited to the online realm, as an innocuous question lead to the somewhat curious exchange between Colbert and Meredith Viera on the 'Today Show' seen above.

Viera asked Colbert whether he uses the site and he responded in the affirmative, saying, "I have Twatted." As you can see in the video, Viera was a little taken back by the profane pun, though we have to admit, the closeness that Twitter and tweet have to a certain impolite slang term for a part of the female anatomy is one of the biggest white elephants in the room when referring to Twitter. We're surprised someone hasn't made the joke sooner.

State Official Reprimanded for Viewing Pamela Anderson Photos at Work

CA Official Reprimanded for Viewing
Not only do you have to be careful of what you post online (for fear of losing your job), but you have to be careful of where you go online. City Manager David Garcia, of Chula Vista, California, was publicly reprimanded for surfing 'inappropriate images' while at work. This so-called inappropriate browsing included days where Garcia spent "several hours" of city time on city hardware viewing (of all things) Pamela Anderson's Web site.

Garcia is far from the first person to get in trouble for slacking or Web shenanigans on the job. Surveys have shown that half of IT workers have napped while on the the clock, and Robert Zellner, a Wisconsin High School Teacher, lost his job in 2006 after spending a mere 67 seconds on a pornographic Web site.

Complaints were filed against Garcia in May by two other city employees, and he has been warned not to retaliate against them. Garcia has agreed to stop surfing the Web entirely at work. Remember just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. [From: 10 News San Diego via: Fark]
