11-Year-Old Graduates College with Astrophysics Degree

Eleven-year old Moshe Kai Cavalin wants to be an Olympic martial arts master and an actor -- as soon as he has proven the existence of wormholes. The California youngster has already obtained his Associates degree in astrophysics with a 4.0 GPA. FOX News recently reported on this real-life astro boy, and while he's not an android, the East Los Angeles Community College pre-teen stands at 4 foot, 7 inches, significantly shorter than his voting-age classmates.

Denied acceptance to a private elementary school at the age of six because teachers insisted he wasn't being sufficiently challenged (Fox says Moshe was worried he looked bored), Moshe was home-schooled until the age of eight, when he enrolled in college. Moshe's parents don't call him a genius and he doesn't like the term either; he just thinks of himself as a kid who likes to study, along with watching Jackie Chan movies, baseball caps with embroidered tigers and playing soccer. The humble youth also plans to write a book to help other kids do well in academics, because he attests that everyone has their own type of intelligence. But for now, he'll be taking a break from school to be a normal kid... before heading off to a traditional four-year university. [From: FOX News]

Pizza Vending Machine Makes Hot Pies in 2.5 Minutes

With the hectic lifestyles we lead, we must often choose between eating a fresh meal or stale food from our local drive thru. But, we soon may be able to get a dish made from scratch almost immediately without cooking or leaving the workplace, thanks to a genius invention: pizza vending machines.

The "Let's Pizza" vending machine prepares fresh dough, shapes it, puts sauce and toppings on it, and cooks it for you. For skeptics who might think it's only reheating a frozen pie, it has a tiny window so you can watch your meal get made. Best of all, the machine can churn out a pie in just three minutes, all for a grand total of less than five bucks.

Right now, Let's Pizza is only in a mall in Trentino, Italy, but creator Claudio Torghele, will eventually bring the machines to the US and all over Europe. We can only hope they come out with a home version. [From: Dvice and Engadget]

'Thinking Cap' Could Make Everyone a Genius

In Sydney, Australia, Scientists are currently developing a "thinking cap" that stimulates the brain with electro-magnets in order to spark bursts of creativity. The cap (which is worn much like a hairnet) holds a figure-eight shaped magnet that targets its pulses at the left side of the brain, which is more logical and analytical.

In studies, these pulses have shown to generate brief bursts (around an hour) of increased artistic and perceptual abilities. Some of the subjects were able to draw more natural looking images of animals and faces from memory after wearing the cap for fifteen minutes. Other volunteers were able to spot errors in written transcripts that they had previously passed over and were better able to estimate the number of dots displayed on a screen.

Researchers think the magnetic pulses temporarily unlock hidden potential in the human brain that savants such as Dustin Hoffman's character in 'Rain Man' are able to take advantage of. The hope is that it will unleash a persons creativity whenever needed, ending struggles like writers block. However, it's important to remember when everyone is exceptional, no one is. 12-Year-Old Invents Breakthrough Solar Panel

12 Year Old Invents Break Through Solar Panel
Imagine what would happen if you took a kid ten times smarter than Doogie Howser, made him a scientist instead of a doctor, and then made him more concerned with helping the world than getting dates.

The t12-year-old Oregonian has invented a solar cell that is being described as a 3-D cell (though we're still not exactly sure what that means). The new cells absorb visible light and ultraviolet rays, which greatly increases the amount of the Sun's radiation captured. Even on cloudy days, the solar panel could produce plenty of power since UV rays are still able to penetrate cloud cover.

The next phase for Yuan is to find a manufacturer and market his invention, which could make solar energy a much more viable source for electricity. Yuan is currently gearing up for a trip to Washington D.C., where he'll accept the Davidson Fellow award (a $25,000 scholarship for students under the age of 18). All of the other recipients this year are at least four years older than Yuan. [From: Komo News]
