The Ultimate Ice-Fishing Vehicle, Only $10,945

Ice fishers and hunters looking for the latest in "multi-seasonal amphibious vehicle" transport (You know who you are!) would be well served to check out Tom Roering's newest invention. He's been working on it since 1998, and it's finally ready for the marketplace.

The Wilcraft (WIL stands for Water, Ice, and Land) is an amphibious, ice-fishing vehicle. With a top-out speed of 20 mph, the thing comes with three ice-fishing holes, a place to stash your auger, and a cover for warmth. It's also remarkably lightweight, with ground pressure roughly equivalent to that of a person walking, so as to not take any unnecessary dips in freezing cold water. But, in the event that it does, it will float, too, of course.

It's furnished "much like a summer fishing boat," with space for lunch, ice, and various beverages. The thing is fully customizable (caterpillar tracks, anyone?) with prices starting at $10,495.

For any regular ice fishermen out there with the cash to spend, this seems like a no-brainer. Also, we think it would be fun to drive around in Halo 4. [From: TheWilcraft.com and LikeCool]

RC 'Feed Boat' Does Everything But Clean and Cook Your Fish

Old timers love waxing nostalgic about lengthy solitary fishing trips and the respect and admiration fostered for their elusive underwater brethren during those expeditions. Armed only with wits and patience as accessories, fishing purists relished those dramatic one-on-one battles of man versus nature. But, for some modern anglers (thanks to technology), nature just doesn't stand a chance anymore.

According to Like Cool, the Radio-Controlled Feed Boat boasts an operating range of 1,000 feet, sonar to locate schools of fish, in-hull propellers (so they don't get tangled in reeds), a thermometer, a depth finder, a light for night fishing, and a tilting platform that dumps bait directly above the lurking prey. It can even deploy a baited hook right into the school for those who want to do as little as possible, freeing up much more time for the most important aspect of fishing -- drinking beer. Now, if the boat could only launch dynamite or grenades into the water and then cast a net to haul in the resulting carnage, fishing would finally require no work, patience, or sportsmanship at all. Cell Phones

Cell Phone Survives a Week in a Fish's Belly, Still Works

First off, it's rather amazing that someone in a developed nation is still using the Nokia 1600 as their primary handset. Secondly, it's even more astounding that said handset lasted a week in the belly of a cod and could still make calls after it was rescued. In a just-barely-believable story hosted up at The Sun, a businessman was both shocked and confused when his presumably sunk cellphone began ringing his lady friend around five days after he dropped it at sea. As the tale goes, a 25 pound cod managed to swallow the thing, and a pair of fishermen discovered it upon gutting their catch. The best part? The bloke who it was returned to is still using it, despite the fact that it literally reeks of rotten fish. Who knows -- maybe he suffers from ichthyomania. [Via Nokia Conversations]

Video Games, Summer Fun

Trade In an Old Video Game for a New Tent

Kids who play video games are fat, anti-social, and overly violent, right? Not necessarily, but that's what many people think, so outdoor "sporting" equipment retailer Bass Pro Shops is capitalizing on this misperception for a sales event happening next week.

Bring in an old video game, any old thing you like, and get 15-percent off of your purchase at the store. The idea is, of course, to get kids outside instead of holing up on the couch on a beautiful summer day, but if you were already looking to make a purchase there, this is a great way to save some money. Just stop at your local video game retailer and buy the cheapest used game you can find. Instant discount, and the sort of lazy frugality that would make any gamer proud. Geek Gifts for Bush's Birthday

Mini Pen Rod
The Mini Pen Rod

This pocket-sized, pen-shaped fishing rod is no toy. It's actually an honest to goodness fishing rod that the President can carry in the breast pocket of his suit. It's not a top of the line sportsman casting rod, but it should be enough to catch a catfish or two, and help the ruler of the Free World unwind a little after a long day of demagoguery.

Now, if the mood strikes, or an opportunity presents itself, Bush can relax and catch himself some dinner.
