SMS SOS: Text-Messaging's All-Time Most Stupid Moments

CELEBRITY TEXTS:
Anna Faris Attempts to Rob Cradle

The Text
Actress Anna Faris ('The House Bunny') admitted to Fox News that she and her fiancé had taken "hump day" to its technological next step by creating Sex Text Wednesdays. "Every Wednesday we text each other the naughtiest things," she said, and cited the time when she suggested they get their drunk on, before getting it on.

The Turnabout
But Faris had misdialed and mistakenly sent that text to the phone of a bewildered young child, who innocently texted back, "I don't know what getting drunk means." Hey, your kid's gotta grow up some day -- why not with a little help from The House Bunny?

CELEBRITY TEXTS:
Detroit Mayor's Fast Fingers Bring Pleasure/Downfall

The Text
In 2003, then-Mayor of Detroit Kwame Kilpatrick was brought to civil court after he fired a bodyguard and the Deputy Chief of Police for probing into an affair with his Chief of Staff, Christine Beatty. After losing a $6.5 million wrongful termination suit, Kilpatrick announced that he would appeal the case.

The Turnabout
Yeah, that quickly died after an astounding 14,000 text messages between Mr. Mayor and Beatty were subpoenaed and subsequently printed by the Detroit Free Press. The naughty missives not only proved an affair and a conspiracy to cover it up, they also demonstrated criminal overuse of "LOL." Kilpatrick resigned in disgrace, but not before being charged with eight felony counts, including obstruction of justice.

DRIVING DISASTERS:
Train Engineer Breaks Record, Hearts

The Text
We might poke fun sometimes at the stupidity of texting whie driving, but many times it's no laughing matter. Such was the case last year when Los Angeles commuter rail conductor Richard Sanchez received and sent text messages seconds before running a red light signal and plowing into a freight train.

The Tragedy
Records show Sanchez received a text at 4:22:01 PM on September 12, 2008. At 4:22:23 PM, his Metrolink commuter train collided with a Union Pacific freight locomotive killing 25 people (including Sanchez) and injuring another 135 in the worst US train disaster since 1993.

Shaq Traded, Notified on Twitter
The Twitterverse is weird. NBA star Shaquille O'Neal was traded to the Cleveland Caveliers last night, but he didn't find out from his agent or from the Cavs' management. Nope, Shaq allegedly first heard about his new home in Cleveland via a tweet from a fan who somehow got the news before the big man. Check out TechCrunch for the full details on this bizarre story. Our favorite late-night talk show host (nope, not Conan) is taking on our favorite athlete in a showdown of video gaming prowess. Who will prevail, the guy with his name on the show or the guy with his name on the game?
