Welcome to Urlesque's weekly wrap up format, which we'll be bringing you every weekend here on Switched. Our friends over at Urlesque try to present as many of the best bits from the Web as they can, but ultimately there are lots of goodies that don't make it onto the site. Per usual, check out this week's hottest posts from Urlesque below... then make the jump (new!) for more things that the Web enjoyed this week, courtesy of some of the best viral collectors on the 'Net.

  • The invention of the Peekaru, a version of the Snuggie adapted for Moms and their babies, was like throwing raw meat to a pack of ravenous internet-wolves. It took about 15 minutes for this to happen.
  • Mark Cuban twatted all over himself.
  • We designed our very own donut. Warning: eating anything like it might kill you. Can you make one that looks more disgusting than ours?
  • Regardless of your personal tastes, you are guaranteed to want to bang these knockers.

  • Don't adjust your eyes! These weird eyeglasses are really that jagged-looking.
  • Finally, did you know that dogs and robodogs are involved in a Darwinian faceoff for intra-species dominance? And the robots are winning...

  • Behold, Cat News, the intellectual godfather of thousands of cat-memes to follow in its wake. LOLcats, meet your maker.
  • This portly Israeli intern recreates six YouTube classics in two minutes, making us laugh and laugh -- we're totally doing this next Purim!
  • Does the internet love ukuleles? Does a bear sh*t in the woods?

WWWrap Up: Urlesque's Best of the Web

What a week. With so much web goodness flying at us from all angles, it's tough to catch it all. Keep reading for the best of Urlesque this week, and then make the jump for the biggest stuff on the web this week, from some of the best viral collectors on the 'net.

  • These weird album covers are scientifically guaranteed to make you chuckle. Or just smirk, inside your brain.
  • We rounded up the internet's wittiest NSFW disclaimers. As in, NSFW, Unless you work with a cadre of greased-up midgets.
  • Steroids got you down on baseball? May we humbly suggest cole slaw wrestling as the next great American past-time.
  • Baby ostriches are the new cuteness.
  • We found the world's smallest helicopter, which weighs in at 150 pounds. An awesome ride, unless you happen to weigh more than that, in which case it's a lot less fun.

Best of the Web This Week

This week, the Internet turned its collective attention to the coronation of the U.S.'s new King President, Aretha Franklin's hat, and a ponytail to match Joe Biden's bodacious plugs.
  • YouTube's best Obama impersonator, Alphacat, swore himself in, and he didn't even have to deal with a Chief Justice messing up the words.
  • Aretha Franklin's hat turned into hot, sequined viralness, and ended up photoshopped onto Ben Franklin's dome.
  • Urlesque blogger Lindsey took to the streets in D.C. to document the best Obama merch getting hawked on the street.
  • A Japanese travel agent offered advice to travelers coming to America..."In general, Americans consider it impolite to discuss politics. However, this January Obama will become the new president, and many people are excited! If they ask you what you think of him, a safe answer is [English] "Obama is really cool."

But the Internet wasn't all Obama-crazed. We still kept covering the usual weirdness:
  • Whoopi Goldberg got a scary new web-series called Stream, which freaked us the f*ck out. Though I think that's the point.
  • We premiered a new feature called catablogging, which will bring you the most useless and entertaining items from bizarre catalogues. Then we'll blog about them. Thus the name. Has nothing to do with cats. (Thank goodness). First up...OrientalTrading.com
  • Speaking of hustlers trying to profit off historical events, the internet got flooded with Chelsey "Sully" Sullenberger t-shirts, hats, and coffee mugs. He must be so proud.
  • This story from Australia involving a missed connection and a men's tuxedo jacket allowed us to write the webbiest headline ever conceived...Viral Marketing FAIL.

This week, the Internet prepared itself for the Obama Inaugural by pumping out a lot of videos about cats and babies, and made fun of some celebrities. Other things happened too, and they just about blew our minds...
  • Atom invented a cool Obama speech generator, mad-lib style. Now you can decide which words will be wrapped around hope and change.
  • Not wanting to be left out of all the politics meets internet stuff, Nancy Pelosi Rickroll'd the nation and put her cats in a video. Coolest Speaker of the House since Newt.
  • YouTube cracked down on music rights, and committed a crime against humanity by muting a video of Seal's "Kiss From a Rose." First they came for Seal. Next, they'll come for our remixes. It's a slippery slope people! (At least we found a hilarious chipmunk video trend as a result!)
  • The government of Australia wants to pay someone hundreds of thousands of dollars to sit on the beach, sip drinks out of a coconut and blog about it. Any takers? Bueller?

See you next week!

Best of the Web This Week

This week, we shook off our New Year's hangovers and got back to doin' what we do best -- mining the most bizarre and glorious jewels the internet has to offer. Plus, we invented a new word and sunk to a shocking new low. See you Monday!

  • You didn't ask for it, you'll probably be grossed out by it, but it should give you a pretty clear window into our sick and twisted minds...Fetuses That Look Like Other Things.
  • We spotlighted some excellent Billy Mays' remix videos. Unfortunately, he's still bearded, yelling and trying to sell you things.

This week, we focused our energies on scouring every corner of the internet to bring you the most ridiculous holiday gifts money can buy. And as the snowflakes fell outside our office windows and covered the streets with beautiful gray slush, we were left pondering memecycles, Festivus, and mankind's role in the universe. Onto the goodies!

Best of the Web This Week

This week, we lifted back the curtain to present our first-born lovechild -- The 2008 Urlies, our recap of the year in Internet -- to the unsuspecting public. Yes, many other cool things happened, but this seismic event shook the web to its very core. Though millions were unsurprised when "Cats" (not the musical) received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, our glorious tribute film really took things to the next level...

Now if we could only get Shaq to rep us on Twitter! After taking a trip down 2008 web memory lane, check out some other goods we found this week:
  • We premiered a new weekly feature, the Weekly Daily Mailbag, in which Eliot will bring you the week's best bizarre news in one convenient serving; it also has a really cool logo.
  • WTF Animated Gifs opened our minds to doors of perception we didn't even know existed...
  • We met the Panda-dog, a very cute, slightly freaky hybrid animal that we'd really like to hug.
  • The Walrus-sax video got mashed-up, and we rejoiced.
  • Giant menorahs proved that out-of-control holiday decorations are entirely non-denominational.

Best of the Web This Week

It was a short week, because in the middle we all shut our laptops and went home to stuff ourselves and take naps. But before that happened, some real craziness went down.

  • The LIFE Magazine picture archives opened, giving the world access to a century's worth of iconic images. We found one that spoke to us -- a woman in an orb.
  • Horses became the new cats. Midget ponies demanded to be named, while other horses were paid tribute with Avril Levine songs. Yeah, it got pretty weird.
  • Soap Lake, Washington planned to build a 60-foot-tall lava-lamp in the town square, and we made plans to travel there, light some incense and stare at it for hours.

  • We stumbled onto the grandaddy of all generators. It told Jake he was "blithely nuanced and feeling bad about waffles." Couldn't have said it better myself.
  • Winter arrived like the frigid b*tch from Narnia, so we found some cool ice sculptures.
  • Finally, we franchised our obsession with burgers. This time they were all edible.

Even though the election is a week behind us, we took the time to gawk at Joe the Plumber's new website and say goodbye to our favorite election season friend. Elsewhere, it was back to animals and weird Internet distractions. Since the web is the gift that keeps on giving, we found a lot of oddness -- so sit back, relax and check out our favorite posts for the week:
