Fans of 'The Dark Knight' can now rent the film on Facebook through a new program that Warner Bros. began testing today. Users who "like" the film's page can rent it for 30 Facebook credits ($3), giving them a 48-hour window to stream it. During that rental period, fans can leave comments on the movie, or pause and resume it as many times as they like, simply by logging into Facebook. Warner ...

Highlights from this morning's other big tech headlines....
Netflix has already bolstered its streaming catalog with the premium network Starz Play service, and a new deal with Relativity Media, which should continue to pressure movie channels like HBO and Showtime, now gives Netflix broadcasting rights to a growing library of recently released content. The first Relativity titles to ...

We're not privy to the innermost thoughts of birds, but we imagine they must derive some sense of pleasure from hanging out on overhead power lines. In an existence characterized by dodging cars, dogs and tennis balls, the power line must be a much-needed respite for our feathered friends. Even that artificial oasis, though, may soon become an ornithological war zone, thanks to something called ...

'Batman: Arkham Asylum Collector's Edition' (Gamer, Under $100)
When we say 'Batman: Arkham Asylum' ($89.99 for Collector's Edition, $49 standard edition, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC) is the best superhero game of all time, we mean it. Because that's what Rocksteady Studios has achieved -- a gorgeous, adult action adventure that does the Dark Knight justice. Taking place over one evening, ...

So, how do you know if the press loves your video game? Well, one way would be to see if Guinness decides it's the "Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever." Such has the case for 'Batman: Arkham Asylum,' released last week on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It's a rather unscientific poll, obviously. Review scores are themselves a problematic and imprecise thing, and aggregating them only ...

Grown men love their toys. One man might have taken that love to new heights, though. Not only does he own a smaller version of a Tumbler, the armored vehicle that Batman drives in 'The Dark Knight,' but he built it himself, too. Now, he's put the plans up for auction on eBay so that all you amateur engineers and professional nerds can have your own Tumbler. According to OhGizmo, the winning ...

Every year, Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood (CCFC) gives out the TOADY award for worst toy. The lucky winner is plucked from thousands considered to be Toys Oppressive And Destructive to Young Children. It's kind of like the Razzies for toys, only CCFC isn't laughing when it hands out its awards. The top nominees for this years TOADY award are all pretty bad, but one in particular ...

Well, good news for Sony, the Blu-ray Disc Association, and anyone who jumped on the Blu-ray bandwagon early on -- sales for the supposed next-gen video format and its players have finally taken off. Holiday related price cuts, and the cost suppression related to the declining economy, have helped put Blu-ray within the budget of consumers, but most of the thanks can probably be laid at the feet ...

If you had any urge whatsoever to try to your hand at drug trafficking over water while these "weird" economic times sort themselves out, uh, you may want to reevaluate your options. The ever-so-stealthy Stiletto has come to life after tracking down a remarkably quick drug-running boat near Florida; the bad guys were cruising at 42 knots, but that comic book-esque thing you're undoubtedly ...

While we're guessing "working replica" might be a bit of a stretch, this full-size, drivable Tumbler built by Bob Dullam in his garage is still quite the impressive piece of work, and will no doubt crush any eBay records set by home-built K.I.T.T.s if it ever actually goes up on the auction block. Unfortunately, apart from the fact that it cost between $50,000 and $70,000 to build, there aren't ...

As you've surely heard (and hopefully confirmed for yourself) by now, The Dark Knight is a runaway hit. So much so, in fact, that a number of manufacturers have figured it prudent to crank our hardware with the iconic Batman logo front and center. Next in line for admission on the bandwagon seems to be Microsoft, which apparently showed off a "limited edition" (read: likely one of a kind) Dark ...

In what strikes us as an oddly creepy way of honoring the fallen actor, Heath Ledger's friends and contemporaries are passing around his iPod and sharing the music on it. Apparently the star of the new 'Batman' film would leave his iPod laying around on the set of the film and others would pick it up and marvel at the collection of obscure musical artists. Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhaal ...

While the world mourns the untimely death of Hollywood star Heath Ledger, questions are already surfacing regarding the publicity campaign for the latest installment of the highly popular Batman films. For much of the past year, 'The Dark Knight' has been the subject of an elaborate online advertising campaign built around Ledger's character, the evil Joker. Now it is a matter of debate whether ...
