Singer Taylor Dayne Has Two BlackBerrys

In case you don't remember the name, you'll recognize Taylor Dayne's powerful voice as soon as you hear her massive late '80s hit dance single, "Tell It To My Heart." After a few years away from music-making, she's back with "Beautiful," a new single climbing up Billboard's pop charts. The track comes from her new album, "Satisfied," which features new original songs and covers of songs by the Rolling Stones and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Taylor keeps connected with not one, but two BlackBerry handsets, which she discusses with us in the latest Switched Questionnaire. Read on.

Pras launched an acting career in the late 90s, appearing in films like 'Mystery Men' and 'Higher Ed.' In 2007, after documenting the homeless in downtown Los Angeles in 'Skid Row,' Pras started a non-profit, PRASperity, to raise awareness of and create solutions for poverty.

'Charlie Bartlett' Star Kat Dennings Is An Apple Fanatic

Charlie Bartlett

Kat Dennings began her career with a brief role on 'Sex In the City,' and she was soon regularly acting in shows ranging from 'ER' to 'CSI:NY.' She landed the role of Marla in Judd Apatow's 'The-40-Year-Old-Virgin,' and is now co-starring in 'Charlie Bartlett', a dark teen comedy in the vein of 'The Breakfast Club' and 'Harold and Maude.'

In 'Charlie Bartlett,' Kat plays Susan, the love interest of Charlie -- a rich, scheming high-school kid just kicked out of prep school -- and she also happens to be the principal's (Robert Downey Jr.) daughter. Kat told us that she's pretty clumsy in real life with gadgets, but that doesn't stop her from being a big technology fan.

With roles in this year's upcoming films 'I Know What Boys Like' and 'Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist,' things are looking good for Kat. She took some time to answer our questionnaires, and it turns out that she loves 'Mario Kart.'

Interview after the "read more" link below.

Seven Mary Three's Jason Ross Discusses Gadgets

Hailing from Williamsburg, Virginia, Seven Mary Three started getting radio buzz and attention from Atlantic Records back in 1994 with the self-produced album, Churn. The band headed back into the studio and released its first proper album, American Standard, in 1995. Its hit radio single Cumbersome catapulted the band to platinum-selling status and a permanent position on VH1's I Love the '90s.

The members of Seven Mary Three have been making music ever since their initial rise to fame. We weren't crazy about late-era, me-too grunge back in the mid-'90s, but Day&Nightdriving, the band's new album produced by Brian Paulson (Wilco, Beck, Son Volt), promises a contemplative new direction for the band. Day&Nightdriving, released on New York's Icon Records, finds the band casting aside crunching guitars in favor of stripped back guitar noise and a generally more raw, emotional sound.

Jason Ross, lead singer of the band and head of a small production company, talked to us about his tech interests and gadget obsessions in the latest Switched Questionnaire.

What gadgets do you always bring with you to the set for down-time?

I always have my iPod, Macbook, Panansonic Lumix, and BlackBerry with me. I would say I spend most of my time on the computer.

What cell phone do you have right now and what do you love/hate about it?

I have a Blackberry 8800. it doesn't have a camera, and I like it that way. it's all business, and the battery lasts forever. I like the keypad. The blackberry curve is a better size, but the keys on it feel like they are toy keys, not for a guy with ten thumbs. The 8800 is built to last.

Who's the last person you sent a text message to and what was it about?

I just texted a co-worker about missing a nada surf concert tonight in Brooklyn. They are awesome, I am bummed to be missing it.

Where do you go pretty much every time you get online?

I run a small production company with a couple partners, so we are always on our project hub, which is a 37 signals product. other than that, I would say Brooklyn Vegan, Pitchfork, and other music related sites.

What annoys you most about your iPod, cell phone, or laptop?

Battery life with the ipod and laptop. Up/down media access speeds with my berry.

Name one thing you wish your iPod/cellphone/laptop could do that it doesn't do now?

Something that fits in my pocket that can tele-transport me closer to my family, should do nicely.

You mean there are gadgets I don't have?....getting...hard..to ...breathe.....

You're stranded on a desert island: What gadget do you bring?

My shake flashlight. Reason: Don't you watch Lost?

What's the most-played song or artist on your iPod?

"This Time Tomorrow" by The Kinks

Berry, hands down.

Are you getting an iPhone-if so, why?

Nizzo. Had one for a week. It's a beautiful machine, but I do too much texting for a soft touch keypad.

What's the longest time you've ever spent playing a video game in one sitting and what game was it?

Joust, June, 1984. I think I discovered girls in July....

Mac or PC?

Mac. Everything is obsolete soon enough. So I want the best looking paper weights I can find.

Nikki Sixx: A Motley Interview, Care of Switched

Bassist and songwriter Nikki Sixx met fame in the 1980s as a member of the rock/heavy metal band Motley Crue. Sixx cemented a reputation as a hard-charging force on the music scene through his frequent drug binges and over-the-top theatrical performances on stage. In 2006, he joined the members of Motley Crue on a reunion tour, this time gratefully sober. Now the bassist in Sixx: A.M. and one-third of the creative force behind The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack, Nikki found time to sat down to answer our Switched Questionnaire and tell us about the role of gadgets in his life, including the love/hate relationship he has with his iPhone...

Marlee Matlin Still Listens to Her iPod

Actress Marlee Matlin has been deaf since she was 18 months old. That doesn't mean she's not a gadget hound. In fact, just the opposite. This Academy Award-winning actress loves her BlackBerry and even gets to listen to Billy Joel on her iPod.

Matlin won the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her role in 'Children of a Lesser God'. She also has a solid list of Emmys for roles in 'Seinfeld', 'Picket Fences', 'The Practice', and 'Law and Order: SVU'. She debuted her first novel, 'Deaf Child Crossing', which Booklist calls a "sensitive depiction of childhood friendship with its fragility, jealousies, and joys." Most recently, her book "Leading Ladies" is making the rounds in reading groups with much acclaim.

She won't tell us if she wrote it on a Mac or a PC, though.

Kenny G, BlackBerry Addict (a Switched Interview)

Kenny G is an institution of music. He has sold over 75 million records over 25 years and has earned Grammy, American Music, Soul Train, World Music, and NAACP Image awards. He even has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

So what's he doing talking to us at Switched? Clearly, he's a BlackBerry addict.

Read on to hear about his love of all things Blackberry. In the meantime, his new album Rhythm & Romance comes out on February 5 on Starbucks Entertainment and Concord Records. This new one is chock-full of Latin Love songs, just in time for Valentine's Day. Get ordering, romantics!

What gadgets do you always bring with you to the set/studio (for down-time?)

My blackberry

What cell phone do you have right now and what do you love/hate about it?

I have the BlackBerry Curve. I love the sound of the speakerphone, I love the instant Blackberry messanger. I don't like the fact that the letters are a little too close together. Also the great thing about Blackberry is that you can make up your own abbreviations for whatever you want so it's really convenient to text someone directions, address info etc...because you only have to type it once and you can call it up whenever you want to.

Who's the last person you sent a text message to and what was it about?

To George Lopez telling him I was dancing with his wife!

A new Trumpet player named Joe Gransden. He is going to be a superstar.

BlackBerry, Sidekick, or Treo?

What's the longest time you've ever spent playing a video game in one sitting and what game was it?

I'm not into video games.

Do you use/have a Mac or PC? Why?

I use Mac because I use pro tools for recording and a Mac is necessary for using this program.

Rosie O'Donnell Tells Switched All...About the iPhone!

It's safe to say that Rosie O'Donnell has done it all, from stand-up and comedy movies to talk shows and even a video blog (that she actually updates regularly). She's also involved in R Family Vacations, a cruise line aimed at gay and lesbian families, which was designed to let the kids of gay and lesbian parents meet other kids from similar families. This year, Rosie and her partner, Kelli O'Donnell, who have four kids, will once again be part of the entertainment on board, along with other celebrities including Cyndi Lauper and Sam Harris. The parental pair took a few minutes to answer our Switched Questionnaire, and it turns out they're pretty stacked in the mobile phone department. To find out more, read on....

What gadgets do you always bring with you to the set (for down-time)?

Rosie: We always have our Nextel cell phone plus an iPhone when I travel.

What cell phone do you have right now and what do you love/hate about it?

Rosie: We have a Nextel phone because we love using the two-way radio service with the family. It's easy for the kids to use, plus it seems to work many times when regular cell service does not.

Kelli: I also have an iPhone that I have become addicted to. There are so many cool aspects to it that I have not even figured out completely.

Who's the last person you sent a text message to and what was it about?

Rosie: We sent a text to our oldest son before he was beginning his swim meet race to wish him good luck.

Where do you go (site or service) pretty much every time you get online?

Rosie: We frequently go to The Drudge Report and the Huffington Post almost every time we're online.

What annoys you most about your iPod, cell phone, or laptop (or any other gadget)?

Kelli: I wish that my iPhone had the two-way radio service so I did not have to bring both gadgets with me. Other than that, I am constantly amazed at how far technology has come and have very few complaints.

Name one thing you wish your iPod/cellphone/laptop (any gadget) could do that it doesn't do now?

Rosie: I wish that you could iChat from your iPhone -- wouldn't that be cool?!?!

What upcoming gadget can you not wait to get your hands on?

Rosie: There are no new items that I can think of. I feel content with what I have.

You're stranded on a desert island: What gadget do you bring?

Rosie/Kelli: I would bring my iPhone. You can do just about anything -- from e-mailing and surfing the 'Net to listening to music, watching movies, and taking photos -- on it. What more do you need? Well, besides someone to share it with on the island!!!!

What's the most-played song or artist on your iPod?

We love Broadway show tunes, but we also love Annie Lennox, Robbie Williams, and a number of '80s tunes that make us feel young again!

What's the longest time you've ever spent playing a video game in one sitting and what game was it?

Rosie: We don't play video games.

"Do you use/have a Mac or PC? Why?"

Kelli: I have a PC 'cause it makes the most sense with how my brain works.

Monk's Jason Gray-Stanford Tells Us All About His "My Pod"

Jason Gray-Stanford may act like a dope on TV's 'Monk,' where he plays Lieutenant Randall Disher, the dim-witted sidekick to OCD-plagued-ex-detective Adrian Monk(Tony Shalhoub), but he's pretty savvy regarding gadgets. He pretty much answered our head off when we sent him our Switched Questionnaire, and it makes for a fun read. You can also catch Gray-Stanford on the special holiday episode of 'Monk,' which made its debut on the USA Network last week and is getting several repeats this week and next.

What gadgets do you always bring with you to the set (for down-time)?

First and foremost, the trusty iPod or "my Pod" as i call it. I never leave home without it. As you may or may not know, down time on set can sometimes be excruciatingly long, so what better way to pass the time by rockin' out to sweet iPod tunes Now, let's be honest -- is the cell phone really even considered a gadget anymore, as it is soooo a part of our culture today? But let's just say it is, and let's just say, next to the Pod of i, that it [the cell phone]is an extension of my being. So many calls to make, so little time.

What cell phone do you have right now and what do you love/hate about it?

Currently, I roll with the first-generation BlackBerry Pearl -- it's a nice size and has all the bells and whistles, but I think the track ball can be a little dodgy. It's also a wee bit brittle, so I don't recommend dropping it too many times.

Who's the last person you sent a text message to and what was it about?

Brad Pitt
. I said "Hey Brad, it's Jason... you don't know me, but I think you're cool. Can we hang out, you know, for breakfast, lunch, or whatever?" Sadly, I never heard anything back. Seriously, though, it was to my sister singing the praises of the Season One DVD of 'Flight of the Conchords' -- that sh#t rocks!!

Where do you go (site or service) pretty much every time you get online?

Well, this one's easy -- switched.com

What annoys you most about your iPod, cell phone, or laptop (or any other gadget)?

The most annoying thing without question is the simple fact that I have come to rely on my cell my iPod and my computer far too much. They are like my children -- Celly, Poddy and Mac. Perhaps you yourself have uttered this phrase: "Wait, stop the car! I left my phone inside. I think it's on the couch. It will only take a minute, but I'd better grab it. You know, just in case anyone important calls."

Name one thing you wish your iPod/cellphone/laptop (any gadget) could do that it doesn't do now?

I'm sure they will all do this soon, but i'd love it if I could just dictate what I needed to say and my computer would type it out automatically. My fingers are already tired from answering these questions. BTW, if this does exist, please send it to me for Christmas.

What gadget can you not wait to get your hands on?

I just got it! It's the Flip Ultra, a video camera for the ultimate layman. It's easy to use, has 60-minutes of video, runs on batteries, and plugs directly into your computer so you can edit, make photos etc.. with the greatest of ease.

You're stranded on a desert island: What gadget do you bring?
I guess I'd bring my i pod. (and its charger). Oh, and an outlet. That's a pretty common answer, I'm sure. If I were clever, however, I'd bring my cell phone, so I could call someone when I got bored and be rescued.

What's the most-played song or artist on your iPod?

A Canadian band called the Tragically Hip. I am Canadian. Enough said.

BlackBerry, Sidekick, or Treo?

CrackBerry.

Did you get an iPhone yet?

No. Because if I did, I would no doubt wind up surfing the Net, listening to tunes, etc.. constantly -- the ultimate one-stop shopping! I would without question shirk all responsibility and become destitute -- well, except for my cool iPhone.

What's the longest time you've ever spent playing a video game in one sitting and what game was it?

The game was 'Metroid' and it was on Sega. It was a long two weeks with the chicken pocks. Let's just say that I am a master. I have the calluses to prove it. I will never play again for fear of video game addiction [see shirking responsibility above].

Mac or PC?

Mac, because it is easier for a computer dummy like me to use, plain and simple.

Essentially, viewers get to go online and choose different match-ups, guest referees, and, who will be the next WWE Diva. You have until 8pm EST today to vote for the WWE match-ups, and through tomorrow to vote on which of the two Diva finalists, Eva Torres (pictured above, left) or Brooke Gilbertsen (right) should be this year's Diva. (The next Diva will be announced on Monday night's episode of WWE Raw.) If gadget-lust is part of your criteria for choosing, then make sure to check out the latest Switched Questionnaire, which puts both finalists to the tech-savvy test.

What gadgets do you always bring with you?

Eva Torres: I always have my iPod (I still have a Mini) and my cell phone!

Brooke Gilbertsen: My iPod!

What cell phone do you have right now and what do you love/hate about it?

ET: I have a Treo 650... It's my life! All my daily tasks and my entire calendar is in that phone, I would forget to eat, breathe, and sleep without it. Unfortunately, it can be a bit slow at times, not to mention my phone service is terrible with no reception. I think it's time to upgrade!

BG: I actually have an old little flip phone! It's nothing fancy, but I love it because it does everything I need it to do, and if I drop it... not a huge deal!I actually have an old little flip phone!

Who's the last person you sent a text message to and what was it about?

ET: The last text message I sent didn't go through because I have no service in my place! But the one before that was to my sorority sister who just found out I was a finalist in the Diva Search.

BG: I sent a funny joke to my two little brothers, because I knew they would get a laugh out of it! It said, "What do you call a vegetarian with diarrhea? ...A salad shooter!" He he!

Where do you go pretty much every time you get online?

ET: I love the new iGoogle application. It's my home page and you can customize what news feeds or sites you want access to immediately. From there, it's gmail, MySpace, and Facebook.

BG: Well, besides wwe.com (duh!!!), I definitely always check my Facebook. I'm an addict, and it's always a nice site to visit, especially when procrastinating studying!

What annoys you most about your iPod, cell phone, or laptop?

ET: What annoys me most is when they don't work properly! I am so reliant upon them that when they don't function properly I'm screwed.

BG: I hate when I don't get service on my cell phone or laptop! It's just not in my nature to wait around (for anything at that... in line for clubs, boys, traffic, etc!)

Name one thing you wish your iPod/cellphone/laptop (any gadget) could do that it doesn't do now?

ET: I wish they could automatically pay all of my bills on time!

BG: I wish my phone got Internet, so I could go on wwe.com at any given time!

What upcoming gadget can you not wait to get your hands on?

ET: I reeaallly want the iPhone, but I'd have to switch service providers.

BG: Hmmm, I would have to say I'm happy with what I've got! I'm not too much of a high-maintenance type of girl, I guess!

You're stranded on a desert island: What gadget do you bring?

ET: If I had an iPhone I'd bring that, otherwise my iPod. Music and dance is my life!

BG: My phone so I could call my dad... he's my hero; he'd be there in a heartbeat to save me!

What's the most-played song or artist on your iPod?

ET: It looks like Beyonce. She has music for all of my moods.

BG: I love a variety of different types of music... so one just doesn't sum it up! When I'm in the mood to get pumped up to party, I put on house... I love Ferry Corsten and Benny Benassi. When I'm feeling mellow, I love Plain White T's and Sublime; when I'm ready to rock out, I'll put on some Tool or Rolling Stones, and when I want to remember my childhood, I'll put on Tom Petty.

BlackBerry, Sidekick, or Treo?

ET: Treo!

BG: A few of my best friends have the BlackBerry, and they love it... it really gets you organized.

Do you have an iPhone?

ET: I would like to, but I always wait until a new product has been out a while so they work out all of the kinks they find in the first models. They are realllly cool, though!

BG: Nah, but I think I should. I have a very busy schedule, and with the iPhone, you have everything at your fingertips to get organized, access info, and take care of all your calls and e-mails.

What's the longest time you've ever spent playing a video game in one sitting and what game was it?

ET: Probably Mario Kart when I was in middle school. I can't sit still longer than an hour though!

BG: I don't play videogames too much anymore, so I'd have to say over the course of my life, the longest time playing was when I was younger, and it was Mario Kart! I love that game!

Mac or PC?

ET: Definitely PC. They're not as pretty, but they make so much more sense to me.

BG: A MacBook. It's awesome. At first, I was like, "How do you use this? It's so confusing!" But now that I've learned all the shortcuts and am used to it, I love it! Plus, it's slim, and I take it to all my classes to keep organized.

Emmy Rossum: Actor, Singer, Mac-Addict

She first sang on the Metropolitan Opera stage at the age of seven and made her movie debut as the opera singer Christine in 2004's movie version of Phantom of the Opera, but it took Emmy Rossum to the ripe old age of 20 (that's right!) to record her first solo album. 'Inside Out' is the the first time Rossum breaks out her complete vocal range, a sometimes ethereal, sometimes pop-influenced (but always appealing) sound that's more typical of the top 40 divas we're used to hearing on the radio rather than opera divas. Her busy career keeps her on the road a lot, so she's got a bag full of gadgets and a clear preference for a specific type of computer, as you'll soon learn in our latest Switched Questionnaire.

What gadgets do you always bring with you to the set (for down-time)?

I always bring my BlackBerry and my iPod. Because I travel so much it's hard to see my friends a lot so I use my downtime on set to keep in touch over email or instant message. I also use my iPod to relax on set and drown out any loud work (cranes, cameras or lighting movie) that might be happening on set so I can keep in character.

What cell phone do you have right now and what do you love/hate about it?

I have the new LG ENV. I love the keyboard (as it makes texting so fast and fun), the high quality camera and camcorder! I like downloading ring tones to my phone of whatever song I'm loving at the moment.

Who's the last person you sent a text message to and what was it about?

My best girl friend Alex about meeting me at the gym in an hour.

Where do you go (site or service) pretty much every time you get online?

AOL to check my mail, and then YouTube to or funnyordie.com

What annoys you most about your iPod, cell phone, or laptop (or any other gadget)?

Sometimes I forget to "lock" my cellphone or BlackBerry, and it self-dials all of my friends or last numbers I've called!

Name one thing you wish your iPod/cellphone/laptop (any gadget) could do that it doesn't do now?

I wish my cellphone could cook me breakfast after it wakes me up in the morning!

You're stranded on a desert island: What gadget do you bring?

Probably an iPhone. I would have music, movies, and contact with my friends on instant messenger while calling to be rescued!

What's the most-played song or artist on your iPod?

Keyshia Cole's new record 'Just Like You'

BlackBerry, Sidekick, or Treo?

BlackBerry!!

Did you get an iPhone yet?

Yes, I would, but it's not on Verizon yet!!

What's the longest time you've ever spent playing a video game in one sitting and what game was it?

Probably about five seconds and I don't think I can't remember which game. I don't play these much, but I like the graphics.

Mac or PC?

Mac. I love iTunes, iPhoto and the laptop built-in camera is great for "seeing" friends and family when I travel.

We got a chance to talk to Cat about her favorite tech and gadgets. Here's what she had to say, in our latest Switched Questionnaire:

What gadgets do you always bring with you to the set of your T.V. tapings (for down-time)?

It's truly amazing to me how one little gadget can make me feel so fulfilled. My Mimoco USB drives hold up to 2 gigs of my most precious digital info (pictures of my son, Jack, some VERY hard to find Beastie Boys and Beatles tunes, a few TV pitches and some scripts) inside adorably anime-ish shaped characters. I have about 5 of them and each one has its own little jacket that can attach to my key chain. I love them and they make me feel loved.

In addition, I always toss the Flip Video into my bag because you never know when you might get video of something YouTube-worthy. It's a small video camera that has extremely basic functions (record, stop, playback, zoom and that's about it) with very cool features. There's a built in USB dongle that flips out for easy connection when I'm out and about that also packs movie management software that's pretty cool. The camera has one hour of storage, comes in different colors and sells for about $120. Love it.

Lastly, I like to rock my video watch in case I have some down time. It's a digital watch with a screen that plays MP4 files with pretty decent quality. There's not a ton of storage, 2 gigs, but I've compressed the hell out of some episodes of The Office that never seem to get old. I can also plug in my headphones to listen to MP3s, check out my photos, record and playback voice message, and tell time!

What cell phone do you have right now and what do you love/hate about it?

Right now I'm obsessed with the new SideKick LX. It's not out till the end of October, but I got one! What a bang up job T-Mobile pulled on this one. First off, the slimmer frame comes in a dark silky brown that's really smooth looking. Pretty yummy, and pretty. Next, they've upgraded the camera's quality, gave it a flash, and packed in a WQVGA screen that uses hi-def LCD technology so media is as clear as it should be at this point. The upgrades are nice to see and I'm glad they stayed true to my original attraction, the way the keyboard feels on my finger tips. The keys are a good distance apart and have nice gription. Yeah, I made that word up...

Who's the last person you sent a text message to and what was it about?

I was getting the scoop on a hot mommy friend of mine who's cheating on her husband with a famous actor. Pretty juicy stuff. The actor wants her to meet up at The Ivy for lunch. Lucky.

Where do you go (site or service) pretty much every time you get online?

Gmail, news.google.com, engadget.com, PinkIsTheNewBlog.com, and,of course, Switched.com.

What annoys you most about your iPod, cell phone, or laptop (or any other gadget)?

I hate when I'm too lazy to plug "it" in at night then struggle the whole next day with the fear that if I use my device like I want to it'll die. It causes me stress in crazy ways and I regret it every time!

Name one thing you wish your iPod could do that it doesn't do now?

I wish I could download content onto my iPod on the go.

What upcoming gadget can you not wait to get your hands on?

Touch, and the new Zeppelin Speaker System. It looks, rad but I want to see if it gives off the sound it claims it can.

You're stranded on a desert island: What gadget do you bring?

First off I'm gonna need some juice. The Solio hybrid solar charger would allow me to charge about 20 different devices with the power of the sun. Now I can bring my video iPod with my favorite music, movies, TV and pix on it so I can stay entertained. That's really all I need.

What's the most-played song or artist on your iPod?

Beastie Boys

BlackBerry, Sidekick, or Treo?

Duhhhhhh

Do you have an iPhone?

Yes. But got one for research and can write it off. I wouldn't pay the money for it because typing long e-mails is huge for me and the hard surface hurts my fingers. The device is revolutionary and you do look like a baller when you're rollin' with it...so YOU should go for it.

What's the longest time you've ever spent playing a video game in one sitting and what game was it?

Days went buy... Halo was the game.

Do you use/have a Mac or PC?

I'm bi.
