Woz Says Jobs Sounds 'Healthy'

Good news for fans of both humans and machines.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak (pictured left) told the Wall Street Journal that his friend Steve Jobs (pictured right) seemed "healthy" and "energetic" in a recent telephone conversation between the two.

Though they didn't discuss the issue of Jobs' health directly, Woz optimistically said that Apple's CEO "doesn't sound like he's sick." Jobs has been on a leave of absence for the past six months due to a hormone imbalance, a result of his battle with pancreatic cancer. Jobs is slated to return to Apple in about a month, although it's still unclear in what capacity he will rejoin the company.

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is next month, and Apple is expected to unveil the new iPhone, as well as to announce its release of the newest update to OSX, dubbed Snow Leopard. And if Jobs shows up to deliver the keynote, you can expect an ovation akin to that received by the Knicks' Willis Reed in game seven of the 1970 NBA Finals. [From: WSJ ]

The Woz, Apple Co-Founder, Pulls a Hamstring, May Not Dance....

Perhaps Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak should have trained a bit harder before joining the cast of 'Dancing With The Stars.'

The poor guy, already suffering from a banged-up knee and a broken bone in his left foot, pulled a hamstring during rehearsal this past Friday. This latest mishap is just another in the long list of injuries that have plagued 'Dancing With the Stars' contestants this season. Jewel and Steve-O have both bit the dust, and it would seem that Wozniak is close to throwing in the towel. Perhaps this season's participants really are cursed? We'll just have to wait and see. Apple Co-Founder Dances: "Like Watching a Teletubby Going Mad"

He did it. Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple and nerd superhero, just made his debut on Dancing with the Stars. As you'd expect, the surprisingly nimble Woz enjoyed himself without concern of mockery. But as one judge put it, "overall it was a disaster." Hey Woz, you're still a nerd hero to all of us.

Woz's Promotional 'Dancing With the Stars' Photo Surfaces
Wow, Woz... turn down the shirt a little bit buddy.

Look, we're used to the Apple co-founder's eccentric ways. He rides a Segway everywhere, carries a metal business card, and has decided to lend his geek cred to the reality TV crap-fest 'Dancing With the Stars.'

Now the promo-photos are coming out and we are treated to Mr. Wozniak in all his shiny, French-cuffed, pink-shirted glory. Woz doesn't even look like he's there to dance, it looks like he's posing with an amusement park mascot for a vacation photo.

No matter how much we love this guy, we can't bring ourselves to carve our room on our DVR for this. [From: IGN]

Apple Founder Steve Wozniak Comes to 'Dancing With The Stars'

Yes, your greatest / worst dream has come to fruition: Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak will be featured on the next season of 'Dancing With the Stars.' There's not much we can tell you right now about his upcoming moves, though we will be watching with bated breath, quietly hoping for a double Lindy, the Sugarfoot, and Denise Richards being dipped on a Segway. Apple Co-Founder Stars In Kinda Funny Outerwear Webisodes

After enjoying a lucrative career after co-founding Apple with Steve Jobs, Steve "The Woz" Wozniak can do whatever he wants. He's dated Kathy Griffin (to each, their own), played on a Segway polo team, and is now starring in a collection of online ads for a clothing company.

The commercials are for SCOTTEVEST, which designs clothes with numerous pockets and unique features to incorporate gadgets, so it's no wonder they'd go with someone like Woz. Two of the 'Woz-i-sodes' are up now, featuring the corpulent computer man in a 'Star Wars' spoof and fishing video where he uses an iPod nano for a lure.

We're not sure how many vests or pairs of 14-pocket cargo pants they'll sell, but more are on their way every week. Check them out here. [Source: Tuaw]

Apple Co-Founder Marries Someone Other Than Kathy Griffin

Woz Ties the KnotCongratulations to Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computers, who tied the knot last weekend with his fiancée, who several outlets are making perfectly clear is not, repeat not, Kathy Griffin.

The name of Woz's new wife has not been released, but we think she must be a huge dork (we mean that in the best way possible) -- the ceremony was held at SegwayFest 2008. We're sure Woz will hold on to this one, a girl who will even go near a Segway, not to mention get wed at an event celebrating the crazy two-wheeled thing, is rare.

So best wishes to them both. Shine on you crazy diamonds! [Source: GeekSugar]

Is 'The Woz' a Line Cutter?

Is The Woz a Line Cutter?
The iPhone 3G dropped last week to much fanfare and, while the lines weren't as long as they were last year, they were still sizable, and when there are long lines there are almost always line cutters. Nobody likes a cutter, and the sight of someone diving in ahead of everyone else can really raise some ire -- especially when it's Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

Wozniak (a.k.a. "The Woz") founded Apple Computer with Steve Jobs way back in 1976, but left active involvement in the company in the mid-80's, moving on to a series of other projects (not to mention romantic interests). He's still connected enough to Apple that you'd think he could get a new iPhone just for the asking, so it's all a bit curious that many attendees of the iPhone 3G release of the Westfield Valley Fair Mall in San Jose, California, reported that he, along with a posse of friends, cut in line when the store opened and walked out with the goods. Many of those who had waited for hours were apparently quite unhappy, but according to Woz it was actually supposed to be something of a publicity event:
I told them I would come at 10 AM and get in line and they told me back that the line would be short and they had talked to the people in front and that the people in front WANTED me to go first. I discussed the fact that I'd be with a small group too. The Apple store staff also said that the chairs and table in front of the store would be reserved for me. So sitting in those chairs I was in line. I am thankful for the chairs. I'm actually older than almost everyone in the lines these days.
So, line-cutting scumbag or just a big miscommunication? Given how universally likable Steve is we have to assume the latter. [Source: CNET]

Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak Hacks Kathy Griffin's iPhone -- on TV

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak -- aka "Woz" -- is much more than a throbbing brain with a tie. He knows that the quickest way to a girl's heart is to jailbreak her iPhone... on TV. As he tells Ms. Kathy Griffin in the season premiere of 'My Life on the D-List,' "You know, some people would criticize you for not having hacked your iPhone." Certainly not you, Mr. Apple Co-founder?

Watch it all go down after the break.

P.S. Looks like Woz's watch is a Nixie -- the man's a nerd to the core.

Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak Disappointed With iPhone

Woz with the hateration! After spending several months with Apple's wonderphone, Apple's co-founder Steve Wozniak has fallen decidedly out of love with the device.

"To tell you the truth I was really disappointed when the iPhone was introduced ... half the phones in the AT&T store at the time were 3G phones," Wozniak said at a press conference, according to a Sydney Morning Herald report. "I was shocked because Apple is bringing the full Internet [to mobiles] -- full Web pages with pictures and everything -- and it's not 3G and I knew that would be a speed detriment."

While he was one of the people who waited on line to get his iPhone on day one (several of them, in fact), Wozniak has grown increasingly annoyed. He isn't buying Apple's claims that the lack of 3G has to do with battery problems.

"I don't understand why it would be a battery issue -- I get as much life on my 3G phones as I get on my non-3G phones," he said.

Whatever the case, we're kinda with him on this one. Bring on the 3G iPhone, Apple!
