Our Daily Deal: 23" Monitor, Wireless Keyboard and Mouse for $179.99

The folks over at TechDealDigger are letting us know about some of the best deals they find on gadgets every day, so we're going to pass that information on to you. After all, in these tough economic times, every little bit counts. We may not be buying Swarovski-covered iPods any time soon, but everyone needs essentials like a computer. So take a look at what the online deals site sent us today.

Want to quickly turn your PC from just another Web-browsing machine into a viable entertainment center? Drop by Dell and pick up this package deal, which includes a Samsung 23-inch HD monitor and Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. While 23 inches isn't large enough to replace the TV in most living rooms, it is perfect for a dorm, bedroom, or the average New York City apartment. Add the wireless keyboard and mouse combo, which lets you sit back, relax, and cue up a movie from Netflix, or a show on Hulu, without hovering over the desk and you've got a legitimate alternative to your traditional cable box and remote setup.

Logitech.com: How Not to Provide Adequate Customer Service

With the current state of the economy, companies are under pressure to lower prices and provide excellent customer service in order to appeal to increasingly frugal shoppers. As consumers grow more and more selective about what products to purchase and from whom they buy them, retailers must update and alter existing sales plans to adequately meet shoppers' needs. In his blog this week, Eric Pratum explains how Logitech.com has now joined Best Buy and Office Depot as less-than-credible outlets that discriminating shoppers may want to avoid.

Pratum purchased a diNovo Edge rechargeable, wireless keyboard six weeks ago through Logitech.com. When the keyboard arrived damaged, Pratum engaged in a lengthy and frustrating exchange with customer service that is just now being resolved. In his commentary, Pratum details at least seven instances of shipping mistakes and negligent customer service, one of them involving a rep who told Pratum that he would have to personally pay for the damaged item's return shipping costs.

For a full rundown of other ways to anger and ultimately lose your customers (like mailing their purchased items to the wrong address, for instance), you can read Pratum's itemized Logitech complaint list right here. Ralph Nader would be proud. [From: Eric Pratum]

'Freaky Geeky' Gadgets for Valentine's Day

On this most romantic day of the year, the best place to be is with the one you love, probably out at some expensive restaurant packed shoulder to shoulder with every other lucky bum and the one they love. But, if you're not so lucky, you might be apart, stuck on a trip of some sort that has you states or countries away from your better half. What to do? PCMag.com's "Freaky Geeky" Features Editor Dan Evans has some saucy tech to bring you a little closer -- virtually at least, and a gadget to help you capture the time you have together.

Up first on his Barry White-inspired tech roundup is the Canon HV20, a high-definition camcorder that comes with a low-light mode that's perfect for capturing your most intimate moments in the dark -- especially if you're a young heiress looking to make a name for yourself. If you're unlucky and far away from the one you love, Evans recommends the Logitech Quickcam Orbit AF webcam for making a digital video connection online. It has a motorized base that allows it to track you wherever you might go around the (bed)room. Finally, there's the Plantronics 510 Bluetooth headset, a wireless headset that lets you chat with the one you love up to 40-feet away from your phone all while keeping your hands free for -- other things.

Yes, it's a very tech-filled Valentine's day, and while you might be in a place where no amount of technology could get you to your lover in time, at least with some of these things you can say hello.

Mini Bluetooth Keyboard Lets You Type Away On Your PC or PlayStation 3

Sure, it might look like a portable electronic translator or text-messaging device, but Logitech's Di Novo Mini, shown yesterday at the CES Unveiled preview in Las Vegas, is a much simpler affair. Designed as a miniature portable keyboard to type text into Web browsers, text message boxes, and video game chat bubbles, the Di Novo Mini connects wirelessly to Bluetooth-enabled computers, smart phones, and even gaming consoles like the PlayStation 3. The D-Pad lets you maneuver around the Tivo-like interface of Windows Media Center, too.

Why would you want this small keyboard when plenty of perfectly user-friendly big wireless keyboards exist instead? Well, for one thing, this one's small enough to take with you, and it's sexy looking with a transparent cover to keep dust out to boot. Only problem is, the thing uses Bluetooth, and we all know how erratic Bluetooth keyboards can be (very!).

Still, given its cool, distinctive design and diminutive size, the Logitech diNovo Mini Keyboard is getting saved in our neat-o files.

$100 Customizable Mouse for Hardcore Gamers

Logitech's New Gaming Mouse and Keyboard

The market for high-end, gaming-themed PC peripherals is growing with leaps and bounds, and mouse maker Logitech is doing everything it can to stay on top of it. Latest from the company is its new mouse and keyboard combo, the G9 and G15. The G9 mouse offers the typical high-precision that you'd expect from a gaming peripheral --- and the same subtly dark and sinister look, too. What makes it interesting are the swappable covers you can pop onto the mouse to make it fit your hand better. And, with adjustable weights, it can be balanced however you like -- if you're into that sort of thing.

The G15 keyboard is also customizable, but handles its customization through some programmable buttons and a small LCD display that you can tweak to include in-game information, like remaining ammunition, lap times and the like.

At $99 each, neither of these new devices are exactly cheap, especially considering they're not wireless, but really, it just wouldn't do to have your batteries die in the middle of a protracted 'Unreal' shootout!
