Lindsay Lohan Nudie Pics a Huge Hit, But Bring Down Mag's Web Site

Lindsay Lohan Nudie Pics a Huge Hit, But Bring Down Mag's Web Site

Well, New York Magazine's 'Playboy'-esque foray into nudie pics has been incredibly successful. This week's photos of the completely naked, barely-legal Lindsay Lohan have garnered the print magazine plenty of attention, not to mention the NYMag Web site, which got more traffic than it could handle than it could handle.

The star of 'Herbie Fully Loaded' and Disney's misguided remake of 'The Parent Trap' shed her garments to recreate Marilyn Monroe's last nude photo shoot, which has come to be known as 'The Last Sitting.' The images were shot by Bert Stern, who created the original photo shoot with Monroe back in 1962. The be-freckled, former red-head generated so much Web traffic for the magazine that for a while on Monday the site was completely inaccessible.

According to Forbes and Portfolio.com, the New York magazine site -- which published a slide show of the photo shoot, as well as some outtakes -- received 40 million views over the first two days that it was up (around 2,000 percent more than usual). Meanwhile, the magazine got 500 more subscription requests than it usually gets in a week. To boot, Forbes is reporting that Bert Stern was paid a standard fee for doing the shoot, and Lohan apparently did the shoot for nothing (which is a whole lot cheaper than the figures some celebrity publications pay for images of stars). So it looks like New York magazine really made a good deal here.

There are two lessons to be learned here. First, the Web can still help bring some business to beleagured print magazines, especially if you choose a lusted-after starlet to pose nude. Second, if you're going to post pictures of starlets' nipples, then you need to invest in some extra capacity so your Web site isn't brought to its knees.

Still, those are some pics, no?

Blogger Awarded $85,000 in Lindsay Lohan Defamation Suit

Perez Hilton Damages Lindsay Lohan

The term "celebrity blogger" may sound like an oxymoron, but we swear it means nothing about Perez Hilton's popularity. Hilton was awarded almost $85,000 to pay for his legal fees stemming from a defamation suit brought against him by Lindsay Lohan hanger-on Samantha Ronson.

Hilton, who claims to have the most hated blog in Hollywood, had re-posted a report on another Web site that claimed Ronson had planted cocaine found in Lohan's car following the train-wreck starlet's run in with a tree in May.

Hilton's lawyer, Bryan J. Freedman, defended him successfully on First Amendment, freedom-of-speech, grounds, then proceeded to take Ronson to bank for Perez's exorbitant legal fees.

We're wondering what happened with the blog that originally posted the accusation of planting cocaine, but also sure (and thankful) that Ronson learned a thing or two about free speech in the process.

Text-Crazed Lindsay Lohan Gallery

Yesterday, we linked to GQ's Lindsay Lohan interview, conducted entirely by BlackBerry, which got us thinking--where else and what else does Lindsay type on her little portable messaging device? And, to whom does she send these many texts, for that matter? (She got a lot of flack for texting condolences to the late director Robert Altman's family last November.)

These days, the notorious party-cum-recovery girl takes her BlackBerry everywhere from the velvet ropes of nightclubs to the doorways of rehabs, but it wasn't so long ago when she toted around a Swarovski-Crystal-encrusted Sidekick (so very 2004-era bling). We found a bunch of fun pictures of a text-crazed Lindsay from the past couple of years and figured we'd share them with you in this fun little gallery, below (with captions by Tom Conlon). We're just guessing what she's doing (and who/what she's texting) in each of these pictures, but if you've got any better ideas, let us know below.

OMG, Lohan Interviewed Via BlackBerry

Strange times we live in, where celeb text messages become print-worthy. The Washington Post has a report on a conversation with Lindsay Lohan that appears in the latest issue of GQ. Lindsay in GQ is of course nothing to get too excited about, but what's distinctive about this interview is that it was conducted entirely by Blackberry, with her thumbing in responses on the device's little keyboard. The result is a time-lapse discussion with the starlet that's about as interesting as those little boxes of text next to the photos of models wearing next season's fashions.

Like so many chats, GQ's Marshall Sella (who describes Lohan as "an icon of her generation") starts off by asking her what she's wearing. A titillating question in many situations, but not so here. Her response? "Here now wearing marc jacobs pumps and a kate and kass dress, vintage chanel messenger and topshop tights and peace sign earrings from kaviar and kind." Fascinating stuff, that; just as fun for you to read as it must have been for her to tap in all those product references.
