Police Find 172 Pounds of Pot Hidden in Video Game Arcade Cabinet

Police in Nevada recently found a lot more than a bunch of quarters inside an intercepted arcade cabinet. In a move many gamers could appreciate, Las Vegas resident Kevin Dixon decided that stuffing a bunch of marijuana inside an arcade cabinet would be the perfect way to smuggle it between Arizona and Illinois. Unfortunately for him, there's no restart button or 1-UP in real life.

According to the Daily Herald, Palatine, Illinois police found 172 pounds of marijuana, worth about $175,000, inside the cabinet that was delivered to a parking lot. Shortly after the discovery, police arrested Dixon and charged him with unlawful cannabis trafficking, unlawful possession of cannabis, and unlawful possession with intent to deliver. On Wednesday, his bond was set at $250,000, which sources said cannot be paid for with arcade tickets.

Police told the Daily Herald that they're not sure yet what Dixon intended to do with all that pot. Seems like there's only one logical answer: smoke it with his friends and see who can get the 'highest' score on the unidentified game. Instead, looks like Dixon will be sharing a cell with Blinky, Inky, Pinky, and Clyde of 'Pac-Man' fame. [From the Daily Herald, via Joystiq]

Harrah's Casinos to Host 'Rock Band' Competition

If you love blowing money on gambling and playing 'Rock Band,' March is going to be, like, the best month ever.

Casino chain Harrah's is inviting gamers to come and rock (virtually) at 17 of its locations in the US and Canada. The Total Rock, Total Rewards Rock Band Competition is sponsored by MTV Games and begins in March. The weekly competitions will be free to enter. In April, four regional contests will take place, with the best group getting $10,000 and an opening slot at a B-52's show in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Whether the winning group will actually want to open for the B-52's is still up for discussion. [From: Joystiq]

Video: Microsoft's Surface Coming to Vegas

See all those beautiful people? You don't know them. And pushing your specs up the bridge of your nose while seated in front of Microsoft's Surface won't change that. Nevertheless, next time we're adjusting our gadget-laden fanny packs in Vegas, we'll be doing so at the i-Bar in the Rio hotel -- the newest home to Microsoft's big ass multi-touch table. Check out the video cheese after the break. [Source: Microsoft]

Las Vegas Marquee Crashes, Displays Windows Error Page For Hours

Windows Crashes Las Vegas Hotel Sign

If you've ever run Windows on a PC then you've certainly encountered the so-called Blue Screen of Death (BSoD), which is pictured above. For Mac fans, this Windows warning is a target of ridicule. For Linux fans, it's proof of their open source operating system's superiority. But for Windows devotees, the BSoD is a source of embarrassment and frustration.

Just take a look at the marquee outside the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. The sign, which usually touts the various performances and buffet specials at the French-theme casino-hotel, was down all night and into the morning, casting its eerie Microsoft blue glow on the strip.

Lest we single out the Paris marquee misfortune, we've compiled a gallery below of some of our other favorite BSoD moments. m
