The Unavoidable Rules of the Internet

The Rules of The Internet

The Telegraph has a look at the 10 most prominent truisms on the Web that anyone who has ever spent anytime on a message board or forum will recognize -- if not by name, than as generally being true.

Some of the rules on the list are more well known than others, such as Godwin's Law, which originally pertained to Usenet discussions but has been expanded to include all online discussions. Godwin's Law states that "As a... discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1." Others are more obscure, but easily recognized as true. Such as Skitt's Law, which says that "any post correcting an error in another post will contain at least one error itself." Something to think carefully about, Switched commenters.
