Guitar Hero III Announced
Xbox 360 owners are still coming to grips with 'Guitar Hero II,' released just over a month ago, and PS2 gamers are busy whitewashing their jeans after yesterday's announcement of 'Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s'. However, Activision isn't letting up: Today the video game publisher announced the next full installment of the game, 'Guitar Hero III.' Dropping this fall, the third entrant in the franchise will hit the PS2, the Xbox 360, the PS3, and the Nintendo Wii (the first time this franchise hits the PS3 and the Wii). It will also include online multiplayer -- something sorely lacking in the earlier versions -- and Xbox 360 owners will finally get a wireless guitar.The new guitar for all platforms will be based on the classic Gibson Les Paul design and will feature removable faceplates for easy customization (not that anyone had a hard time putting stickers on the earlier models). It's also said to feature "a new button color design that will be integrated for an even greater authentic feel and rock experience." Whether this means all the existing 'GH' guitars will be made obsolete with this latest release remains to be seen. We certainly hope that's not the case. The first 11 tunes announced are as follows:

- 'Sabotage' (by Beastie Boys)
- 'The Metal' (by Tenacious D)
- 'My Name is Jonas' (by Weezer)
- 'Knights of Cydonia' (by Muse)
- 'Rock And Roll All Nite' (as made famous by Kiss)
- 'School's Out' (as made famous by Alice Cooper)
- 'Slow Ride' (as made famous by Fog Hat)
- 'Cult of Personality' (by Living Colour)
- 'Barracuda' (as made famous by Heart)
Now, you'll have to excuse us while we prepare to bring the rock like it ain't never been broughten.
