Keyboard Key Stools Ideal for Resting Geek Derrieres

If you are reading this, then you probably already have some geeky paraphernalia stashed somewhere in your home. Want more? Then be sure to check out this cute, utilitarian offering from GreatBigStuff.com.

The Great Big Computer Key Seat is exactly what its name implies. The heavy duty plastic seats are 22-inches across and 15-inches wide and come in your choice of black or beige. The seats come with the word "sit" on top, but they're customizable, so use your imagination. The Great Big Computer Key Seat costs $125, meaning we may have to sacrifice some groceries before shelling out the big bucks. [From: Walyou]

Gadgets You Can Wear (But Really Shouldn't)

A Collection of Silly Geeky Wearables
Want to be taken seriously by your peers? Well, then don't get caught wearing any of this stuff. GeekSugar has compiled a list of gadgety wear and accessories that will almost universally make you look bad, regardless of how geeky your peers are. Here are a few highlights:
  • Oakley Thump MP3 Sunglasses - The style is good, but the fold-down headphones make these a bit cheesy and, dare we say it, not quite socially acceptable.
  • The Connect-a-Desk - This backwards backpack lets you type on a laptop while walking around. Great for system admins who are constantly walking around the building. Not so great for being seen in public.
  • iPod Lederhosen - Okay, if you happen to live or work in an area where lederhosen (traditional German pants) are socially acceptable (which we doubt), don't further push your luck by wearing this model of pants sporting integrated iPod controls. There's nothing trendy, or traditional, about them.
  • R2D2 Backpack - This would be undeniably cute for your kids, but, regardless of how badly you want to go back to the time when you were a young Padawan learner, there's just no place for one of these on an adult.
  • The iPod Hat - Yes, it's a hat that holds an iPod. Need we say more?
Take heed and avoid these things -- unless you're seeking a gag gift for a friend, that is. If you are looking to embarrass somebody, though, consider this a sort of shopping list, and check out the read link for even more ideas. We also thought we'd add a gallery we created a while back, of other silly tech clothing. [From: GeekSugar]

Another Geek Uses an iPhone to Propose

Another Geek Proposes with iPhone App
We're beginning to feel a little inadequate here. We've got another elaborate geeky marriage proposal that has us hoping our significant others aren't reading our Web site.

Bryan Haggerty, a user interface designer at professional social networking site LinkedIn, proposed to his girlfriend Jeannie Choe using a custom-built iPhone Web app. The app, called 'Romantech,' led Choe on a scavenger hunt around San Francisco, complete with with video clues from her beau.

The points on the map eventually formed a <3, or caret heart shape, ending in Dolores Park where Bryan was waiting. Obviously, he then popped the question.

It's adorable and quite inventive, but we're afraid that the wealth of elaborate proposals will lead people to believe that all of us geeks are that creative and romantic. It's a lot of pressure. [From: Wired]

Handbag Made of Keyboard Is Geeky, Stylish, and Impractical

The Keybag - Beautiful, Geeky, Impractical
João Sabino a Portuguese designer has finally found a use for all those computer keyboards that land in the trash. He has repurposed 393 discarded keys to cover interesting-looking, though impractical, handbags. The tote style bags are described as fashionable, though we can't really imagine anyone carrying one of these around. That doesn't mean we can't sit back and admire the geeky design porn.

Unlike many of the other geeky designs we cover here, the Keybag is actually for sale. €130 (about $182) gets you a black or white model, while €145 (about $202) nabs you a pink or red bag. You can order one through www.joaosabino.pt. [From: Walyou]

Mariah Carey Gets Geeky In Latest Video

Mariah Carey Gets Geeky in Latest Video

Back in the early '90s, when Mariah Carey made it big, a music video featured dancing, singing, and maybe a hint of a love story in there somewhere. Today she's taking a bit of a different tact, throwing in some seriously nerdy angles to her latest video, 'Touch My Body'.

The video starts with a visit from a so-called-CompuNerd in a familiar looking black VW New Beetle. Mariah, dressed in lingerie, leads the geeky staffer to her laptop where she serenades him with lyrics about YouTube, digital cameras, and wireless networking protocols:
If it's a camera up in here
Then it's gonna leave with me when I do

If it's a camera up in here
Then I best not catch this flick on Youtube
Check out the video for yourself at YouTube (ironically), and, after watching, don't everyone rush to apply at your local computer repair shop at the same time.
