In the past I have worked for an optometrist so have some expertise.

We all need to keep our outlook about how other people live to ourselves. if they are not damaging someone else then it is entirely their business.

Land lines may be expensive - although most phone companies have bare bone accounts - here's one reason to keep them.
During an earthquake - and no matter where you live there can be an earthquake - cell phones do not work except for some distance from you- at least 25-100 miles. Another person pointed out -when electricity goes land lines still work.

Aug 19th 2010 9:44AM Where were you in Europe? They have their own chains - restuarants, hotels/motels. Granted some of them change the name a bit or have different fronts but they are chains. Grocery chains , drugstore chains, some of which are now in the good 'ole USA

Aug 17th 2010 1:16PM One way to stop these ridiculous fees are for people to STOP using the ailine or company or whoever is charging the. If the companies want to play hardball then the only way to get back at the outlandish costs is to stop using them.
If you knuckle under and pay the fees and patronize that company they will keep doing it.
