Worst Tattoos on Women (Lemondrop)
Feb 18th 2009 4:51PM Hilarious. Since I've seen loads of men with infinitely worse and poorly-done tattoos.....way too many tacky sexist naked pinup girls on men's arms, in addition to all those stupid barbed wire motifs and Chinese characters that, instead of saying the guy's name, say something like "grey asparagus motivation" or "America sucks."
What is it with AOL always criticizing women for everything they do or don't do? I have a tattoo that was beautifully done and means a lot to me. I am very proud of it. :)
Women Drinking Like Men -- When Gender Equality Gets Dangerous (Lemondrop)
Feb 14th 2009 10:20PM What does women drinking as much as men have to do with gender equality??? Is this another "let's blame feminists for everything!" scenario?
Signs You're Too Nice (Personal Articles)
Nov 8th 2008 11:59PM Nice, he says women enjoy being raped. Just great. :/
Get a damned clue, Andrew Moore, and realize women are not a bunch of objects to be thrown around and used like meat holes. We don't like getting abused by you, especially NOT in the bedroom!
New Yorker's Obama Cover Touches Nerve (Politics Daily)
Jul 14th 2008 1:33PM Only the "basest" among us wouldn't "get it"? Really?? If most Americans are "not getting it" then that's some pretty lousy excuse for satire, no? With all of the racist campaigning against Obama and Michelle (and I am not even a fan at all) just about any blatant racism against blacks and Muslims is possible in the media today. So what is it about this cover that's so "satirical"? This image is either of two things: straight up racist and Islamophobic; or, if it is "satire," doesn't do the job at all.
The author of this article is just a snob who likes to believe he "gets it" and no one else does. Good job at being a first-class arrogant jerk, Knowles.
10 Cheap Ways to Look 10 Years Younger (Shopping Articles Blog)
May 20th 2008 11:15AM The post about sagging breasts is misleading and false. The reason ones breasts sag is BECAUSE we wear bras too much. Bras actually weaken the muscles and skin on your chest so that your body ends up relying on the bra to hold up your breasts, thus, wearing a bra too often can actually make your breasts sag. My mom wears a bra constantly and as a result her breasts sag a lot more than a lot of women's do. What's more, bras restrict the flow of blood and natural fluids in your breasts, thus increasing the risk of breast cancer. Bras are just bad for your body and your breasts, period.
Virgin Mobile Steals Teen's Flickr Photo For Ad Campaign (Switched)
Sep 21st 2007 7:52PM I am a photographer and let me just say right now that I am soooo frusterated and peeved by dishonest jerks who steal other people's artwork (yes, photography is something you create, it IS an art) so they can make some money. I will NEVER give Virgin Mobile my business in the future!
Potent Quotables: The Gossip's Beth Ditto (Spinner)
Aug 17th 2007 10:00PM Don't you just love it when Americans criticize Arabs and Muslims for being sexist and then spew out crap about how much they hate fat, opinionated women? Ahhh, the hypocrisy.
Personally, I don't think it's necessary to diss Britney Spears in order to get across that fatter women should feel confident about themselves, but Beth Ditto's comment was made exactly because of nasty misogynist comments like the ones posted here. Wake up people.
Roger Ebert really likes-likes Crash (Cinematical)
Feb 28th 2006 7:18PM I found Crash to be the most overrated and overly praised movie ever. And I am not overexaggerating. The film does not at all battle racial tensions or stereotypes in the U.S. because it uses racist AND sexist stereotypes throughout (and not satirically). Haggis sorely fails to address the ways gender and race intersect and affect people's lives, and it is necessary to understand this complexity to battle racism. Most of the main characters are male and the only "minority" females who are main characters are the Latina woman (I think her parents were Central American in the film) and I guess what was supposed to be a mixed black woman (you know, with light skin and blue eyes, of course :( ). All the white female characters are racist and only that, and let's not even get into the stereotypes about the way Asians act (and drive, according to Haggis) and how Middle Eastern men (the Iranian father) are excessively aggressive (tries to shoot young Hispanic father). And the whole incident with Matt Dillon's molesting a woman in front of her husband and then Dillon's "redeeming" himself by saving her life just plain ticked me off. I mean, Haggis did not at all delve into the negative impact this incident of racial sexism had on her. Anyway, I apologize for labeling characters "woman" or "father" but I saw the movie a while ago and can't remember their names in Crash. I agree with many of you that the ending was abrupt, pointless, and dissappointing. Haggis's demonstrations of racist "events" are simply insufficient to even scratch the surface of the issue because he doesn't point out race's connections with gender, class, age, socioeconomic status, etc. I understand Crash is a whole heck of a lot better than most of the movies that came out in the past year, but I still think it is an overrated film with a very hypocritical message.
