Sep 28th 2010 5:47PM I would not condone a fan calling someone the 'N' word, but you people are assuming that Nick Collins isn't just using that as an excuse to try to soften the penalty. It would hardly be the first time (this month) that someone has pulled the race card to make him or herself not look like the a-hole they are.
Until I hear or see hard evidence that this fan actually said that, I'm running on the assumption that Nick Collins is just a cry baby loser. I mean he is on the Packers after all.

you do realize that McCain isn't well liked by most conservatives right? You also realize that he was about a day away from becoming a Democrat due to differences with Bush last Fall right?
You can keep parrotting the Daily Kos/Move On...(...to failure) crowd propaganda all you want, but McCain is a very different politician than Bush is.
I'm not suggesting that should be enough for you or anyone else to switch their vote but if your sole grievance with the man is that he is Bush III then you couldn't be more wrong.
Also, if you are going to comment on people using their brains, perhaps you should learn to comment and not double post. It just makes it too easy.

Aug 9th 2008 2:18PM absolutely. Sure it might cut more on aggregate, but this just reeks of a marketing ploy. Beside is there any word on if it still performs up to spec? I mean if it uses less power but sucks at its job there is no use for it.

Oct 23rd 2007 6:07PM Uh yeah, it's called youth marketing. People can handle a 30 year old still being 'cool' these days. If it was the '80's his age would have been listed at under 30 for sure. It's not a shock. No one would have joined myspace if it was run by a 40 year old nearing early retirement.

1) They are big lobbyist. Ya know who else are big lobbyists? Trial lawyers. The same ones who have been driving up premiums at a monumental pace by suing for anything that looks even remotely like malpractice. In the 1950's-1970's you could get a MAJOR operation for little more than a few days pay if you had no insurance. Now you can't. Tort reform should be addressed before we bring anything else to the table.
2) Some of the 'socialized' institutions you mentioned are there to keep public order and maintain infrastructure (Police & Fire dept) They are more for the governments benefit than for the public.
Schools: I don't know many who are happy with public schools and would go private in a second if they weren't shelling out thousands of dollars on public education. So you might not want to bring that up lest we begin the 'give me a voucher to opt out of public school' debate.
There are already enough government programs that 'take care of our own' people's ignorance in researching them shouldn't be my problem.
3) there are so many patently false and misleading things here I don't know where to begin.
a) the QUALITY of health care in the US is second to none. How else do you explain Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles being filled with wealthy Europeans and Canadians waiting to get what should be basic operations in their countries if not for waiting lists and coverage restrictions (i.e. in England you can't get a hip replacement if your BMI is over the acceptable level, of course, to lose weight to get your coverage back, you have to exercise; which I understand is hard to do with a non-functioning leg)
b) America is also the largest importer of poverty stricken people. Poverty stricken people tend to have more medical problems, thus higher mortality rates. (I'm not even including the 12-20 million illegals here who exacerbate this problem)
c) Americans are also the most obese people on earth which is the #1 cause of most health issues. Unless you know a doctor who practices out of a Bally's, there isn't much added access to a doctor is going to do for you. It's a cultural thing that needs to be addressed on the family level.
4) more multi-level
a) see part 1 re: tort reform. There are many reasons other than profiteering why the system costs so much
b) it's not true that most doctors support Universal Healthcare (see articles posted earlier on what Canadian doctors think about it) most do think they should have more of a say in how patients are treated which is taken away by some HMO's; some may believe that Universal Care would allow them that, but the systems in Europe and Canada show that does not end up being the case.
Health care reform is needed. I know that I don't want a plan that hands out coverage to 'kids' who are 25 years old. (go to college where they provide health care coverage or get an f'n job at that point) I also don't want a plan that let's people who's incomes exceed $80K getting covered. That is not a poor person. It is probably a person who mismanages their money, which again, isn't my problem if they can't afford private insurance.
I also know I don't want a bill that shells out billions to cover illegal aliens. I'm sorry they are poor, but they aren't supposed to be here. There shouldn't be a reward for violating our borders and our laws. Sorry.
If this bill was targeted at increasing the funding of the current CHIP program that wouldn't be so bad as it has helped a lot of truly needy people. Unfortunately, it's not.
(oh and there were Republicans who got on board because they compromised with Dems to get pork barrel projects in their home districts tacked onto the bill--politicians sell out their beliefs every now and again and again and again to retain their hold of their office--sad but true. )

Gimmie and f'n break. It's biological babies. Put a really hot girl in front of a guy and we will look. It's not really a choice; its like jerking your knee when the doctor smashes the hammer on it, or laughing when you hear Paris Hilton is going to jail. Same thing really.
