Jul 10th 2009 3:30PM PS And stop dissing Levi for being in a situation he didn't ask for. Do you think it was his decision to go to the Republican Convention last year and become the focus of national attention? No way! He was dragged there by Governor Palin to show that her responsible teenage daughter already had marriage plans, so no baby-out-of-wedlock kind of thing going on here! She used Levi for her own PR purposes and dragged him into the national spotlight. Now he has to get on with his life but the media are still pursuing him. Whose fault is that?

Jul 10th 2009 3:18PM It didn't take Levi Johnston to figure out that Palin was tired of paying lawyers over $500,000 (so far, by her own admission) to defend her from charges of ethics violations while in office. And more legal bills to follow. By resigning, she puts that behind her. I am sure she has plans for that $7 million advance on her book. She needs some time to write it and can't be writing a book and be dragged through ethics violations hearings at the same time while pretending to be governor. Could it be that her publisher put the arm on her to step down or no $$$ for the book? And that she rationalized this decision by the belief that her book would be of greater influence on national politics than anything she could do as governor? What would you do if you were her?
