iPad 2 production may not be affected by explosion at Foxconn plant (TUAW.com)
May 23rd 2011 10:10PM I'd like to preface my comment with a statement that I don't laugh at or take lightly the loss of human life in the Foxconn accident.
So on with my less than reverent comment: Is that Sub-Zero in that picture?
3D (sort of) on your iPad without glasses (TUAW.com)
May 23rd 2011 10:06PM I experienced the same thing. I figured it was because I was using it in really poor lighting (there's a floor lamp right behind my couch), apparently the app just isn't as great is it claims to be.
Hex watch bands for iPod nano on pre-order now (TUAW.com)
May 17th 2011 7:02PM I don't think I can get behind the "wear an iPod nano as a watch" idea until it has Bluetooth capabilities. Once I can wear wireless headphones and actually listen to something on the nano without a cord going from my ears to my wrist I'll be sold.
TUAW's Daily Mac App: ColorWash (TUAW.com)
May 17th 2011 4:35PM I'm sure this is great for people that don't have Photoshop, but for those that do, selective coloring on photos isn't really all that difficult, and a fun little technique to learn.
RoadAhead is a different and clever nav app (TUAW.com)
May 14th 2011 10:53AM I remember as a kid we took a road trip from Houston, TX to Orlando, FL on vacation, and we had a gigantic book that indexed this type of information. You had to make sure to have the latest edition for hope that it would be accurate, and finding the highway and exit was a fairly involved process. This is a great idea for an app, and the fact that it's free is even better, I think we paid something in the area of $10-15 for the book.
Twitter revamps mobile web app (TUAW.com)
May 12th 2011 10:17AM I love how Echofon syncs up my feed between my iPhone and my Mac, and how it knows not to bother pushing replies/mentions/DMs to my phone when I'm on my Mac.
Many iPhone owners run apps before getting out of bed (TUAW.com)
May 12th 2011 10:15AM I do this on the weekends, but on a work day I hit that snooze button as many times as I can before I must get out of bed to avoid being late to work. I just don't have the time to read stuff by the time I am actually awake.
iFlow Reader calls it quits, abandons App Store (TUAW.com)
May 11th 2011 9:51AM While I certainly don't like the situation, and think that this will end poorly for customers, Apple is probably well within their rights to have this sort dof TOS, and unfortunately, this won't make us stop using our iDevices or shopping on the App Store, will it?
I prefer Amazon's Kindle app to iBooks, just because I prefer how the app works, and b/c I can read those books on my Mac. I don't see Amazon pulling Kindle out of the App Store over this, even if they almost cease to make any money off of it. The iOS apps are a big selling point for Kindle hardware, and some people will continue to buy through the site.
Drum sticks, guitar picks for GarageBand for iPad needs support (TUAW.com)
May 9th 2011 2:41PM For plenty of people this is a great solution. They know how to be gentle and careful, but using drumsticks gives them a much better feel than using their fingertips. The problem with just using your fingers is that you have to play each drum like it's a bongo, djembe or some other kind of hand drum. Yes there will be idiots that smash the glass with this, but if you're not banging away at it you should be fine.
Apple Stores receive more visitors than Major League Baseball stadiums (TUAW.com)
May 9th 2011 2:37PM Yankees vs. Royals? You'd have to pay me to go to that game. One team I dislike just because they're overly popular and have too much money. The other I dislike because they're local and they suck. Care to guess where I live?
