Starbucks Closings: Is Your Latte Affected? {News Bloggers}

Jul 2nd 2008 1:55PM I don't think it is a matter of them 'hurting' per-se as much as it is a simple matter of market over-saturation. Can any business do well with locations that are practically in sight of one another?

Gophers Stopping Victoria's Secret Attempt to Sell Gopher Stuff {AOL Sports Blog}

Jun 27th 2008 12:11PM I can't understand why the college is upset. I mean, I could see it if their mascot was the 'Beaver' but the 'Gopher' has no inference that should cause a problem.

Supreme Court Bans Death Penalty For Child Rape {News Bloggers}

Jun 27th 2008 9:31AM Harvey:

two things: A) the reason the death penalty is not a deterrent is that in most States it is rarely practiced. That is, courts are slow to sentence death, there is an automatic appeal process plus whatever appeals are launched by the condemned all in all, there are people who have been on death row for over 10 years. Plus any attorney can tell you that as long as you don't do certain things (i.e., make statements of intent, fail to show remorse etc.), you will NEVER see the death penalty. Remember back in the 40s and 50s when we had a REAL death penalty? When committing a murder meant the gas chamber or the electric chair? Man, THAT was a deterrent!

B) As I said in my post (#27), "No other crime has the same propensity for spreading like a contageous virus than rape or molestation of a child. Killing perpetrators before they can 'infect' others is the reponsible thing to do."

Elsewise, we become responsible for the victims and perpetrators of tomorrow.

No measure should be spared when it come to protecting our children!!

Teacher Really Loves Baseball, Sleeps With Eight Players on High School Team {AOL Sports Blog}

The teacher will get her DUE (not 'Do').

The writer wrote an ARTICLE (not an 'Artical')

It is PATHETIC (not pothetic)

and he should get a SUSPENSION (not a 'suspention')

Five spelling errors in a very short reply. Almost a new record. Perhaps if you had a teacher like her, you'd be better at spelling?

From your response, I'm going to make an educated guess that you are a very pretty woman. Let me explain the way things are for us 'mere mortals'. For a 15 year old boy, pretty or not, is not as important as finding acceptance. An adult woman has credibiltiy to a young man that serves to validate us as human beings. At that age, sexual feelings and the emotions that come with them are new to us and usually go unfulfilled. This creates a horrible feeling of emptiness. To have a woman accept us sexually is like saying that our feelings actually matter. As a pretty woman, you have always had such 'acceptance' available to you--hence, you are able to take it for granted. The rest of us don't live that way.

Jun 26th 2008 12:28PM Where were teachers like her when I was in school?? The thing that probably upset these kids was learning that she was 'doing' the others as well. I know that would've upset me. But, a 1-on-1 relationship, (illegality aside), would've kept me interested enough to be a straight 'A' student!!

Autistic Toddler Kicked Off Plane {News Bloggers}

Jun 26th 2008 11:43AM Hasn't anyone ever heard of medication? I can understand not wanting to put him on medication full-time but for a trip on an airplane, it sounds irresponsible of the parent not to get some medication for her son.

Is Obama the New Jimmy Carter? {News Bloggers}

Jun 24th 2008 8:32AM Steve:

Unfortunately, there is no 'guidebook' on how to lead. Each has to find a leadership style that works for them. Ideally, the best we can hope for is that our politcial leaders be people of moral character. But, the very nature of politics may make this impossible. Keep in mind that there are also several varibles that would render imprudent the creation of such a guidebook. Consider that Abraham Lincoln was an Army Reservist and was morally conscienscious. Yet he presided over four of the bloodiest years in our Nation's history.

Fiat apologizes to China for Richard Gere commercial {Autoblog}

Jun 23rd 2008 2:32PM Gere's alright in 'Pretty Woman' but not much after that??? Are you high? What about 'Shall We Dance'?? Admittedly, it would be difficult not to be great if you're starring opposite Jennifer Lopez but, still. No, the REAL reason China is upset is that it is Richard Gere and he starred in that movie where he was falsely accused of murder in China. The name of the movie escapes me but his performance in it was spectacular!! Not an easy role to play and he did so convincingly.
