World's largest LED screen coming to Dubai {Engadget}
Oct 9th 2008 2:50AM So many funny comments. This is one of the reasons I visit this site. You guys crack me up. Especially the comment about exchanging the panel because of dead pixels. Imagine how much more enlightening this site would be if there was some way to pass all the highest rated comments along with the article text to RSS readers.
Sony Ericsson laying off 450 employees in Research Triangle Park, NC {Engadget}
Sep 29th 2008 4:39PM I still have my SE T616. The software on that phone is ROCK SOLID. I have used it as a portable alarm clock for the last 5 years and only once in that entire time did the clock fail to go off as scheduled - and I may have simply overslept it that once. I can't say that about any other phone.
Kodak stuns with world's first 7.6-inch OLED picture frame {Engadget}
Sep 28th 2008 1:55AM I expect to see one of these on the CEO's desk within a year. It's probably be the only place I'll ever see one.
ASUS shipping illegal keygen crack and confidential docs with some laptops {Engadget}
Sep 18th 2008 4:32PM That makes complete sense now. Thanks for shedding some real light on this. I like it when people with inside knowledge can help explain how something like this could have happened.
India cracks down on open WiFi to stem terrorism, chain letters {Engadget}
Sep 18th 2008 2:42PM We'll see exactly how much this actually curbs terrorism. If people are determined enough to commit a terrorist act, they will find a way.
Close the WiFi access points? There's cracking tools available to the determined criminal. Open sesame.
True "Terrorism" is not something that an average joe is going to do in his spare time, yet that's how certain agencies make it seem. This is just more FUD to me.
OS X-installing EFIX device gets unboxed {Engadget}
Sep 11th 2008 9:49PM "This is the most affordable Mac ever," Jobs said. "People who are thinking of switching will have no more excuses."
Looks like they do again...
But then consider the crap factor of the knock-off hardware slapped into some of the cheapest barebones systems. Well, I guess you still get what you pay for. If you want a good system, you're going to have to pay more for better parts. That's just the way it works, no getting around it. A silly EFI dongle is not going to change that.
That said I'd still like to see a sub $1000 Mac desktop that can be upgraded, and oh yes - play Crysis, if you get my meaning.
Favorite iPhone apps: Giles' take {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Aug 28th 2008 9:56AM SMS is designed well with its conversation view. It's something that I was used to on the treo 650 that I am glad showed up on the iPhone. I agree with others here that say the on-screen keyboard needs improvement. I find that a lot of times I'm going back and forth from numbers to symbols to letters just to type in a URL into the browser. The "context sensitive" keyboard should be a little more "context sensitive" and show me the "@" and "//" symbols right up front on the main keyboard when I'm in safari.
Diebold comes clean, admits that its e-voting machines are faulty {Engadget}
Aug 24th 2008 1:52PM I agree that most of my fellow Americans have lost their will to challenge the leadership in Washington on the most critical points and at the times when it was most called-for. So many have become seduced by the corporate news media which tells them how to feel about issue X Y or Z. As long as "someone else" is doing the thinking around here, most people are content to sit by on the sidelines and watch this monumental clusterfuck of a political system trash the nation like a tornado touching down in suburbia.

Aug 21st 2008 4:27PM Meh... I'll wait until a 1kg-capable model comes out. Until then I'll just keep using my trusty *postal scale*.
