What Can I Get You Folks? - The 20 Percent Tipping Point (Slashfood)
Sep 8th 2009 9:32AM Seriously now, I am getting to the point where I would much rather not eat out. In california, at least, there is a minimum wage that wait staff make. Seriously no degree needed and basically these are not the most intelligent people out there. Another fine point is that some like to blame the kitchen or bar, food and drink I wait for, all I want is to see my soda or water stays HALF full... but that is rarely the case. There is also the fact that the meals have gone up in price over the year so a meal with drinks is almost always around $50 at a cheep restaraunt inflation is built into it ALREADY. So since the waitress is more concerned about texting someone in the back instead of making sure what she can control is taken care of, water or soda at a minimum. Why is it I have to feel obligated to drop her a $10 tip? I always tipped 20% of the total bill no pretax double ideas or creative estimations just 20% of the bill drinks too guys. Even in the 80's I did it that way. But it is sad that the more I go eat out the less "service" I actually get and the more whining I hear from people that in the old days got a waitress job because they were in high school or wern't qualified for a real job. If this is the case I think screw my degree I need to go be a waiter and give mediocre service cause hell I get 20% or you are the ahole.
SMS SOS: Text-Messaging's All-Time Most Stupid Moments (Switched)
Jun 25th 2009 4:43PM Sad thing is with all of this new technology comes responsibility. It is a great communication device, I have had my share of 800 dollar texting bills (forgot I was on a limited texting plan) and serves me right. Responsibility would of said; don't text so much slow down and really do I need to stop working to discuss that? Hours are lost daily for every employee as I see each person in my store using a cell phone to text on the clock (I am a manager at a retail store). I do not stop them since I know it is useless and I feel they make up in extra effort in their position. Aside from that my friend bought a blackberry for his daughter because her friend has an I-Phone. We are talking 10 year olds here. Reality check, does anyone under 18 NEED a cell phone? There are younger kids then that sporting the new phones I can't afford. I remember the old day when if you did not answer the phone, you were not home. Life moved on, the kids were finding a way to let you know they were safe. Mr. Responsibility is knocking or should I say texting… "Hello just because everyone has a cell phone, is mature enough; together enough; stable enough; or just plain smart enough, should they be aloud to use one."

Comcast airs adult ad during kid's cartoon (AdJab)
Feb 21st 2006 2:22PM Let's look at the positive side; Parents were at least paying attention to what their kids were watching, when I was a kid it was the virtual babysitter that kept me out of moms hair.
