Guide to Concert Etiquette: Rule 1 {Spinner}

Jun 17th 2007 1:22AM Alright Already!!!!

I cannot believe the CRAP that some of you think you should be able to get away with in public!

Just because your hillbilly A** has finally discovered that the voices that are coming out of your radio box are actually people who perform live and allow ANYONE entrance (if you've got $$$!) does not mean that you can be an obnoxious Jackass whenever or where-ever you choose.

The rest of us shouldn't need to have to put up with your obnoxious behaviour! It is VERY much like the INCONSIDERATE jerks who talk during a movie...

Don't even get me going on IDIOTS who think that somehow it is their "American Right" to show their lack of proper home-training by getting their REDNECK A** drunk, crazy, and/or just being outright RUDE in public - and try to justify it because they saw it at another concert in another venue. Monkey see, monkey do.

It has become comparable to allowing the lunatics a special showing of the Opera back when it was fashionable to do so!

I certainly don't want to bounce off of MORONS (or have them bounce off of me!) while I'm trying to enjoy a show. Not only did I anxiously wait for "them" to come to town - LIKE YOU DID - I also payed to get in - Like YOU presumably did (or did not: Radio Station Giveaways).

I, and others, also didn't pay to see the south-bound end of a north-bound REDNECK obstructing my view (and any one else's behind them...) while she perches atop her cousin just so that she can have a better view! ...and he can presumably get lucky tonight...

I'm not saying that there aren't proper times and places for such "PARTAY-ing" (Jimmy Buffet fans, for instance, know what I'm talking about...). It really depends on the show and the performers. What is acceptable - even encouraged - at one show (JB or The Grateful Dead etc.) is probably NOT what you want to do at a Peter Gabriel show.

If you go to the Opree dontchew wear yore Sunday Best?.

It is not, as some have posted herein, an age thing. You can be young AND actually have public manners just as easily as you can be aged AND be a public disgrace. Or, apparently, vice versa.

There DOES need to be a rekindling of a sense of manners (etiquette...) in today's "American" society. The rest of the planet pretty much thinks of Americans as rude, obnoxious, busy-bodies and this type of low-class attitude is a part of why they do!

Try to consider the world from someone else's viewpoint occasionally. Like those of the people standing behind your inconsiderate A**!

Didn't yo Mama bring yew up better'n dat???

This Concert Etiquette IS a fine plan, however, this particular list needs to be re-thought. About half is Nazi-PC BS and the other half is right on the money!

It's time we took the fanatic out of fan-dom!

PS:The rule on Tshirts is NUTS (or is it NAZI?), I've gotta admit...

And Rule #1" "When the show's over, go home." Who CARES where you go after the show! Which flashlight-waver came up with THIS rule?
It IS true that you can sometimes meet your favorite artists and even get autographs by waiting around after the show. Some performers still remember that it is their audience that is keeping them suitably employed and do meet-and-greets. Some come out and chat while they are waiting for their tour busses to leave. So go home? Only a security guard/bouncer mindset could have come up with this one...

Apr 20th 2007 1:30AM Oddly, since this is the first that I have heard about this topic, I was speaking with a lady that releases homing pidgeons ("dove" release - like at weddings...) today about her business. One of the topics we discussed was homing pidgeon racing - such as they do in europe. She mentioned an odd fact...

At some of the long distance races a HUGE percentage of birds did not make it home. They simply got lost! Something was messing with their magnetic homing sense... I believe cell towers were mentioned as a possibility...

Now, I read this about the bees...

Apr 16th 2007 5:01PM Lately it has become more and more evident just who the actual racists are in this country! As soon as anything negative happens - for any reason - to a person of a particular race (be they African-American, Latino-American, or whatever...) it suddenly becomes a race issue!

Wearing baggy pants or a cap reversed is NOT a racial issue! It is a CLASS issue. Hip-hop culture is embraced by people of various shades, colors, and -yes- races through out the world!

I, for one, am getting extremely tired of seeing how popular it is to play the "victim" (poor baby!) in our "Greatest Country in the World" (not saying much...), people just looking for excuses to throw out the "Race Card", the lawyers that egg them on, and the "Media" that whip it all into a ratings frenzy - all to attract more viewer$$$$.

IMHO, it is those that react quickest to any issue by throwing out the "Race Card" that are, usually, the greatest racists themselves! Hypocrites!
