Video: Mazda dealer responds to allegations it bilked customer on meds (Autoblog)
May 10th 2010 3:48PM This is not an Isolated incident. This kinda thing happens all the time. I was working at a dealership in my younger days and I saw a very angry husband vent in our show room. The dealership had just had a complete change of ownership and management about 5 months prior to the blow up so we had never seen the guy . A vet, who had just returned home from a deployment, came home to find out his wife had paid $31,000 for a new Toyota....Tercel (it was 1990). He came into the dealership and threatened to drive the car though the plate glass window of the showroom if we didn't fix things...
I have to say we had a very good finance guy (instead of the soulless devils who usually inhabit a finance department) and he looked over the paperwork. The fact that he was shocked said everything. They had financed the car for 7 years with all the worthless extras .. seat protection, paint protection, 7 years of prepaid oil changes, and my favorite... They financed her insurance costs for 7 years at 20% interest. On the Toyota the Salesman made almost $5500 in commission... on what was a $10,000 car.
The previous staff took complete advantage of this woman because she wasn't knowledgeable. We used to refer to these kind of customers as laydowns... they just laid down and took whatever you gave ...
I am saddened by the story I read but I am far from shocked. For every 1 decent person in the car sales business there are 3-4 sharks.. and Its hard to trust an industry with those odds.

MechWarrior: Living Legends mod gives Crysis' Nanosuit a run for its money (Joystiq)
Jan 5th 2010 12:00PM This looks really good. They got the whole feeling of weight in the promo video.. When I was a kid Mechwarrior 2 Changed my gaming life.. I started to demand quality from my games.. Then Microsoft, in my opinion screwed the franchise by making it more of an fps and less like a walking tank game. They also lost the feel that Mechwarrior 2 had. The factions didnt seem that different..and I am sorry the colors were way bright. Then they turned it into a standard shooter.. and dumbed it down. I remember buying my sidewinder joystick because it had a hat and u could twist the stick for rotating the body.. oh and dont forget the throttle.. It was awesome. I remember u had to balance the heatsinks vs.. the firepower. the weight vs speed. Long rang vs short range weapons..and the cross linking of the different weapon groups.. The most satisfying moment for me was having a larger Mech bearing down on me.. and me pulling the trigger after linking all of my weapons together. It fired and overloaded the mech and it went into system shutdown... but I leveled the other guy.. I am gonna fish out my crysis disk.. and I am willing to give this great looking conversion a shot... if only my sidewinder still worked in windows 7 :(
Fusion Garage Joojoo tablet rises from the ashes of the CrunchPad (Engadget)
Dec 7th 2009 2:40PM Joo Joo = FAIL.
Steal it.. and add 200 bucks... what a deal. Crunchpad's price was on the outside realm of an impulse buy... but at $499 I have way too many other more useful choices..
Rupert Murdoch Wants News Corp. Sites Off Google (Switched)
Nov 9th 2009 1:35PM OMG.. Why isn't he dead yet...Like the other Fossils of Print media. He hasn't learned that u can't make money restricting content..ony by providing Value added content. Thats his problem.. he wants the web to run like his obsolete news empire. He will never learn and things will never change until all the old guard wither and die. Half his crappy stories are Just regurgitated AP posts anyway.

Jun 9th 2009 5:21PM Thank the gods... finally a htpc keyboard that doesn't use a separate gyro pointer.. or a crappy nubbin(MICROSOFT!!).. or a badly made trackball... I wondered why it was so hard to build a keybord with a freaking trackpad... the fact its multitouch is just gravy... Oh wow.. its not 100 bucks + ( LOGITECH!!!) kepping my message short.. gonna order right now!!
Forbidden Fruit: 265-horsepower Volkswagen Scirocco R unveiled (Autoblog)
May 20th 2009 12:17AM This car grew on me.. I was kinda dissappointed in the fact that it looked to me like a squat Golf instead of more like the Corrado update everyone I knew was hoping for, but It just keeps getting better and better looking all the time. That is a hallmark of a good design.. Anywho.. I refused to get on to the VW rollercoaster of on again and off again availability, but not bringing it here is a mistake.. sure VW would not have sold a 100K of them but it was a lot better bet than the Rutan..(which I like..in a weird way). The other thing is it isnt always about the 0-60.. the hardcore guys who want hyper 0-60 times usually are uninsurable or 16..lol.. or they can't afford a Rabbit(Golf) let alone a Scirocco. The few of us who can afford it want it because of more than just the 0-60 time.. I can get a beater CR-x and drop in a vtec turboed NOS'd engine on slicks with a coffee can exhaust that can do it in 4.5 seconds lol but really do you want to own it just because of that?
Judge disconnects alleged car-warranty "robo-callers" (Autoblog)
May 16th 2009 3:47PM It's weird for all the calls I receive from them, They won't sell me a warranty... they just hang up quickly... I tell them that I own 2 cars and I didn't know I had a warranty left on them.. They get all excited and ask me to tell them both models so they can check which car was the one with the renewable warranty.. this is where it gets strange...I tell them I have a 1982 Chevy citation and a 1974 Ford mavrick... and they just hang up.. I was just about to pull out my credit card too.. The maverick needs a new exhaust system..I was using flexible ducting I found on the street till I can afford a muffler from the junk yard...
Now the government has gone and stopped them telemarketers before I could get my extended Warranty!!!! Damn Obama administration... Nixon or Bush woulda never stuck there noses into my affairs.
Anyway I'm off to home depot for some rolls of plastic to cover the hole in the roof of my Double wide... Who says you cant fix yer own problems...
