Death Toll For Internet Teen Suicides Hits 17 {Switched.com}

Mar 11th 2008 8:24PM The way AOL markets the article blaming the internet for their deaths is highly misleading. It's tragic that the teens commited suicide, but I highly doubt the internet was to blame for it. It was simply their last cry for help in posting their desperation on their pages. Saying that all the teens used the internet is a clue to why they're dying is like saying the fact they all wore shirts is a clue. These days just about everyone uses such personal webpages. I hope they find the reason for this rash of suicides though.

Hot Seat: Is Obama Too Nice? {Political Machine Blog}

Jan 2nd 2008 4:57PM Sally, stop that ignorance. It's that kind of racism and religious persecution that tears our own country apart. MUSLIMS ARE AMERICANS TOO, YOU DIMWITTED JERK! Muslim is a religion, Sally, not a country! Muslims are all over the world, just as Catholics, Buddhists and Hindus and every other spiritual following! This isn't about his religion or race, it's whether or not Obama could be a good leader in the states and from what I've seen he's more of a moral and upstanding candidate than the others. THIS IS NOT ABOUT RELIGION, GENDER OR RACE, PEOPLE! SO LEAVE IT OUT OF IT! A good leader is a good leader regardless of what he or she is in skin color, gender or faith.

Top 11 Oprah Blunders of '07: No. 3 {Black Voices Blog}

Nov 10th 2007 9:25PM Now there is a really sick comment. Just as bad as the shouts of "PUT DOWN THE FORK!" at anyone who's overweight! People learn some sensitivity. With a thyroid condition, a person doesn't have to overeat or even eat fatty foods to gain weight. Chemo therapy screwed up my thyroid function when I was 18, I weighed 135 at the time, the ideal weight for my height and build. In ten years, I've reached 255 pounds by UNDEREATING! and still being active! I work out, I eat lean meats and almost nothing on the side but broccoli and it doesn't stop it. Only medication does and not everyone's body will respond to the medication.

How Old is Too Old for Today's Fashion Trends? {Style List Blog}

Oct 11th 2007 7:27PM I'm not even 30 yet. I turned 28 this summer, but overweight as I am I have a very difficult time finding things that are both comfortable and look good. During the summer I end up wearing the same thing every day and just get several sets of the same outfit. It's a little annoying not having variety, but not much looks good on me and even less can I find that both looks good, and is comfortable and cool for the summer. So it's always the same black, sleeveless with white armholes and V neck and black shorts. It looks good, reduces stress for picking out what to wear, but I know I look boring after a while, especially to my friends. Looking good in something appropriate for you isn't just an age issue. It's a body type issue in general, age simply contributes to the variance of your body type.

Smoking Bans on Cruise Ships Cost Millions in Cancellations {Gadling}

Sep 10th 2007 1:02PM This is getting sickening seeing so many people whining about how hard it is to quit and yadda about rights and all. It's the cruiseline owners' rights to ban smoking! There's no law making them do it! It's like you going over to a friend's house and they don't allow you to smoke in their home. It's their property and their decision! And about hard to quit smoking? BULL! Go cold turkey. It's rough, but if you have any kind of willpower and aren't a sick little whimpering snot, you can do it. There are more difficult addictions than something that so called calms your nerves. There are worse breaking symptoms than getting cranky and jittery. Try going cold turkey on nose spray you've been using for 3 years because you couldn't breathe without it ever since that cold you had. Two hours without a puff from the stuff and you absolutely cannot breathe, sinuses completely swollen and you have to breathe with your mouth hanging open. THAT'S tough to go cold turkey on. But I did it. It sounds so pathetic, nose spray, I know. But we don't even know what the hell over the counter we're putting in our systems. I HAD to stop because I kept bursting a vessel in my lungs. A full week of not being able to sleep and hardly able to eat because I could not breathe through my nose, not even a whistle of air. Getting off the stuff is like going through a severe cold for a full week. So those whining about "OMG, it's SOOOO hard to quit smoking! You don't know what it's like and they make it so expensive!" WEAK!

Smoking Bans on Cruise Ships Cost Millions in Cancellations {Gadling}

Sep 10th 2007 1:07AM Erf, I just wish my two friends would stop smoking. They're courteous enough to not smoke around me because I've been through cancer, but they are so saturated in it it makes me physically ill when I'm just around them. The particles stay in your clothing LONG after the cigarette goes out and transfers to every environment you're in. I mean they get in my car and we go somewhere. I drop them off, come home, change clothes, climb into bed for rest and I wake up still smelling of cigarettes even though I was never near one. And it literally hurts my chest!

Laser Printers as Bad for You as Cigarettes {Switched.com}

Aug 10th 2007 5:48AM To all those smokers saying live it up while you can. HONESTLY! What the hell are you thinking?! Even if you die quick, there is a whole heck of a lot of suffering along the way the route you're taking and after going through cancer once when I was 18 years old and nearly dying in the hospital, I sure don't want to have to suffer and struggle through that again by choice, least of all by someone else's choice! I survived, barely! But I'm not living anymore, and not because I don't try to, but because most of my health was stolen from me by cancer and worse, the poisons they pumped into my bloodstream to "help me survive". You suffer through a month in the hospital of no food and only an IV to keep you alive, as weak as an infant and having to go through the humiliation of your mother having to wipe your rear because you keep messing yourself and the docs won't let you out of bed because you might faint from a low blood count and see how you feel about something that is a clear choice of whether you will or won't use or even be around that is blatantly known to cause cancer.

You Can Find Clothes That Fit {AOL Hot Searches}

Jun 27th 2007 1:10AM The worst is bras! ESPECIALLY sports bras! I can't find anything that would fit me at a 48DD. I'm 5'6" and 245 lbs and clothes in general are difficult. I'm not HUGE, but god! They can't even reach my size? I workout and a sports bra is kind of a requirement, but I can't find a damned thing! It has to be ordered online and you can't just try it on and put it back on the rack if it doesn't fit right!

A dance for chastity {ParentDish}

Mar 25th 2007 10:20PM I think it's a wonderful thing. When I was young we had something similar, though it wasn't focused around a pledge to stay a virgin. We had a father/daughter dinner/dance. From about 5th grade to 8th we had it every year at our school. It was a wonderful night when we got to dress up beautifully and spend time with our fathers at an all girl school. As for the abstinence thing, that was something we did in our youth group, both boys and girls, where we made a promise in front of our church to remain chaste until our wedding day. It was something to be proud of and I stuck with it. And I was very glad to find a husband that had as well.
