Top Clinton Donors Meet with McCain Camp {Political Machine Blog}

Jul 17th 2008 7:25PM So you would rather vote for McCain who will appoint anti-choice Supreme Court Justices, build nuclear plants which will be targets for terrorists and which will spread radiation everywhere, will cut essential services to try and balance the budget on the backs of the elderly, the poor and women, just because you can't have your first choice: Hillary. If you think that McCain will live out his term, you're nuts. What if his Veep is someone like Romney or some other ultraconservative who will continue on the road to disaster. Are you better off now that you were 7 years ago? 4 years ago? Do you think the middle class will do better under McCain than under Obama?

Why is a Little Old Librarian a Threat to John McCain? {News Bloggers}

Jul 11th 2008 12:44PM Bobby,
It is a slippery slope that we have entered. Yes, I do feel threatened by this because an attack on her rights is an attack on ours. Suppose that you feel strongly about an issue and you want to display a placard OUTSIDE a sponsored event which states your point of view in a civil manner. Please show me where in the Constitution do you find it written that the citizenry can express its point of view or picket ONLY if given authorization by a private entity putting on an event. If they say "No" then what? Does that trump the right to free speech? These were not "fighting words" which have their limits. If she had gone inside and been given the opportunity to even raise the issue to the candidate, she would have been hustled out, probably before she even finished making her point. You have watched the videos of McCain raliies and Bush rallies where that's happened, haven't you? It seems that your biggest complaint is one of form over substance. This may sound like a stretch, but consider this. Back in the days when Blacks were filing LEGITIMATE lawsuits for violations of Civil Rights in the south, some courts dismissed them on the grounds that they were typed single-spaced instead of double-spaced or didnt have the blue back form. Form over substance. Do you my point? Besides, this wasn't an organized demonstration with pickets surrounding the hall. It was a lone citizen defending OUR right to speak what she believed was truth to power. Whether you agree with her point of view is irrelevant. When you put the power to censor in the hands of a private entity, you have destroyed the ability to peaceably assemble and make your views known. That makes a mockery of government and of freedom. What, we have to lawyer up and go broke going to court just to get a hearing on whether a person can say that a candidate is no different that his predecessor? Permission to speak, please........

Why is a Little Old Librarian a Threat to John McCain? {News Bloggers}

Jul 10th 2008 4:39PM I couldn't believe some of the comments made about the "rules being the rules" etc. and then bringing in the totally irrelevant issue about Jesse Jackson followed by the racial epithets. The issue is truly one of free speech and the right of the people to petition the government for redress of their grievances. SENATOR McCain may be a candidate for the Presidency, but he is still a member of the LEGISLATIVE BRANCH OF THE GOVERNMENT, and as such, a citizen has the right to be heard. The fact that she had a placard is speech, albeit symbolic speech, which the Supreme Court has already ruled is legal in public and quasi-public areas. The greater public good is better served by allowing the citizenry to protest. Bush and McCain talk about bringing "freedom" to others. What about maintaining some sembleance of it for ourselves? What have our noble dead and wounded fought for all these many wars for? What are they dying for now? So we can be "free" as long as we march in lockstep to this funeral dirge for "liberty" being played? Those who don't see the bigger picture have never thought about the spirit in which the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution were written. I guess they are just words whose meaning has been lost. Like the Geneva Convention, these documents too, are just "quaint". God bless this country and good luck to us all.

Divorce, YouTube-Style {Switched.com}

Apr 28th 2008 2:26PM Yikes, what a bitter person you are; let alone prejudice, insofar as you've pre-judged the case and the man himself. Scorched earth policy on her part won't help her in the short run, or long run, for that matter. Maybe he just tired of having sex with her. Good thing she's not a teacher because she has no class. Bet you aren't either.

McCain's About-Face {AOL Elections Blog}

Feb 25th 2007 4:30PM This poor man is so power hungry that he's willing to say anything to get the nomination. Assuming he does end up as the nominee, he'll say say that he was forced to go to right, but that's not where he really stood to begin with. He's either just another political whore or maybe he's getting so old that he's forgetting what he said just a few minutes ago. Depends. Either way, he has sucked up and apologized to Rumsfeld and to Cheney and to Bush. Leader material? No.
