Nov 17th 2008 9:56AM I think 50 should pay but I think a trusted third party should make sure the money goes where it should because his ex sounds like she's scandalous!
Chinese Gymnast Yang Yun Admits She Was Underage When She Won 2000 Bronze Medal (Fanhouse Olympics Blog)
Aug 24th 2008 12:35PM I totally agree. Take their medals if they are caught cheating. They did it with us on Marion Jones (also rightfully so) and this was years after the fact! If they did it to Marion, they should do it with China.
Bill Gates Leaving His Fortune to Charity, Not His Kids (Switched)
Jun 21st 2008 2:39PM Personally, I feel that Bill Gates has the right to do whatever he wants with his money. While I DO think its a bit messed up that he isn't leaving his kids his fortune, I would like to think he isn't going to leave them anything at all.
Still, that's why you should have your own means just in case. Just because your parents are billionares doesn't mean they are going to leave you anything. I won't take as hardline of a view as "Earn Your Own Way" though. While the "gimme" view has wrecked our country, the "hardline" view of the world hasn't done wonders either.
Mom Gives Public Punishment To Son, 12, Accused Of Bullying (ParentDish)
Jun 6th 2008 9:00PM I totally agree. Put it this way, I used to work with this one guy at my job who is totally apathetic and thinks he knows better than everyone. It makes me wonder who the hell raised him?
My mom's way of discipline was basically an whooping! She did use other methods but it didn't bother her to get out the belt either! Yeah, that may sound cruel and all but I tell people this, I have never been in serious trouble nor have I been to jail. If I ever have kids, that's pretty much how I am going to raise them, only I'll find what works and what doesn't with them.
I also think that parents today are just lazy! They want everything done for them as far as raising their kids! Take TV for example. People think by complaining to Hollywood, they are doing something for their kids. Here is an idea.....how about monitoring what your child watches and use the damn V-Chip controls which have been built into TV's for the last 10-15 years?! Hollywood isn't going to change and you aren't going to change them BUT you can control what goes on in your home. In other words, be a parent and stop relying on other people to do your job for you. You and your significant other had the kid or kids, now raise them!
Mom Gives Public Punishment To Son, 12, Accused Of Bullying (ParentDish)
Jun 6th 2008 9:23AM Before I answer, let me say that I am glad you turned your life around before it was too late and that you are being a good parent and husband.
But let me say that I hope you can use your experience to lead your kids away so they won't have to learn it like you did. That's what I believe this mom was trying to do with her son. Granted, it may have been extreme but as I said earlier, it was tame compared to what my mom would've done!
If I have any knock on how my mom disciplined, it was "damned if I do, damned if I don't" type of deal. Basically, I wasn't to get into fights and such but a lot of times, I would be in situations where I wanted (and should've) fought back but didn't because I was afraid of what I would get at home. The worst part was no one would take up for me and even worse, the adults would add stuff that never even happened and make the bully out to be victim! It was so disheartening. That's why I can't really have much sympathy for this child. I am glad to see a bully get his for a change.
Anyway, at least you turned out good and are determined to not let your past control your future.
Mom Gives Public Punishment To Son, 12, Accused Of Bullying (ParentDish)
Jun 6th 2008 9:10AM Jan, that's the kind of mom I had. By today's standards, what she would do would be considered child abuse. One thing about it though, you never heard of me being disrespectful even when justly provoked (let's face it, some authority figures are power hungry fools) or in any major trouble. Some other kids who made fun of me being disciplined had trouble later on but I avoided a lot of trouble and I do credit it with that kind of discipline.
I think kids, to a degree, should be scared of their parents. After all, there is a difference between a parent that uses discipline and a parent who just beat the kids or humiliates them just because they are there.

Jun 6th 2008 9:02AM I am 33 years old and let me tell you, this kid got off easy compared to what I would've gotten at his age! My mom would've whooped me within an inch of my life! That alone would've been enough!
Still, at least this mom did something.
One-third of married moms have cheated! (ParentDish)
May 12th 2008 3:04PM Mr. Mason, that's another problem too. Many look at marriage as a matter of convience rather than a lifetime commitment. And, in my view, it should be a happy commitment, not just one for the sake of or just to have because "its what's expected." Yes, many marriages still happen because mommy and daddy can't keep their noses out of their grown children's lives!
I am single and I ain't even CLOSE to being married. But if I ever considered it, I would want to be serious about it. Yes, I have been a bit of a player in my life but I do respect what marriage means. If I did, it would be a serious commitment, at least on my part. I would hope my future wife (if there is one) feels that way too.
To Ms. Rachel Charn, I like your rules! 1. Never argue, talk 2. Never go to bed angry and 3. have lots of sex (especially like #3)!
One-third of married moms have cheated! (ParentDish)
May 12th 2008 2:56PM Sunny, your last comment is most of the problem. Couples just don't talk to each other! Not saying that cheating is right but when your spouse (be it the husband or wife) isn't talking or paying attention to you, you will eventually go out and find that attention from someone else.
Again, not condoning it but its human nature. To the guys that think they are in control of their woman, they better think again! I've known some women that are better at cheating than men are!
To the women who think that all men are dogs, perhaps you should look in the mirror and maybe you'll see the reason he's chasing other women!
One-third of married moms have cheated! (ParentDish)
May 12th 2008 5:20AM To the two people at the beginning that have been successfully married for multiple years, more power to you!
But, that being said, no one really knows what drives people to cheat. Some will say they don't take their vows seriously. I don't believe that. I believe both parties going in with the vows taken seriously. What they fail to realize it isn't a magic thing. Marriage takes work. You have to work on those vows daily. When you lose sight of that, all the other things that could destroy a marriage will likely happen.
And while I believe in the Christian faith, I don't think its a "bulletproof" vest either. In fact, many people that I've seen that had affairs were Christian so I wouldn't be so quick to be "hollier than thou" on this subject. This can happen in any household regardless of race or religion.
