No Comment: Proof that Samsung shamelessly copies Apple (TUAW.com)
Sep 29th 2011 5:09AM (gasp!!!!) OMG - you're right! What are we going to do about it now?!
Seriously this is no big deal ~ Koreans do this all the time. Huge companies in Korea copy Americans all the time.
Lotte World obviously mimics Disneyland from the rides to the way they dress the Lotty and Lorry characters in the same size and outfits as Micky and Minnie.
Lotteria mimics McDonalds with the fast food and using red and yellow.
There are other marts which resemble names from cartoon characters to huge store names.
For Samsung to copy the iPhone is another thing to add to the list. Like I said, no biggie. The world's not gonna fall apart.
Three LimeWire alternatives for easy peer-to-peer downloading (Download Squad)
Nov 17th 2010 9:26AM If you just want to find singles, then ditch software and go to http://www.beemp3.com
But seriously, in my opinion, torrents are the best way to go. I don't like downloading singles (most of the time), I like downloading albums to understand the context of the song.
Transmission or uTorrent both work great. Then download the albums from sites like www.thepiratebay.org or find a way to join demonoid.com, a private network
If you want the best experience, as someone pointed out. You should join what.cd - it's perhaps the most organized and virus-free music file-sharing network. It has so many formats available, it's better than any online store because it has FLAC from CDs or even Vinyl, and of course the lossy versions of ogg, aac, and mp3s. Seriously, by not joining you are missing on a great experience.
It also comes with a cost - if you break their rules (like not sharing enough to match your ratio), you will get banned. If you tag your files wrong, that's also not good. Just read the rules, and you will understand that it's because of these rules that it's the Best File-Sharing music site in the world.
Joining is not easy, because knowledge of the formats and how to upload them properly is required in order to keep it organized. For more information, go here -> http://whatinterviewprep.webs.com/howtojoin.html
Verizon loses ETF class action lawsuit, ordered to pay $21 million (Engadget)
Jul 2nd 2010 11:48PM What I don't understand is that I wasn't offered a flat rate when I was thinking of canceling one month early. It would have been $60 to cancel one month early, but if I did everything according to the contract, but since it was $32 a month, I chose to stay until the end of the contract.
In all seriousness, even thought I didn't have to pay the flat rate fee, it still seemed like an unreasonable price. I know many people are saying that if you agree to a contract, it should be expected for the consumer to not complain about it. While I expect to follow through the terms, that doesn't mean I think the business practice is fair.
iAds begin appearing in App Store apps (TUAW.com)
Jul 2nd 2010 8:20AM This is an apple fan site. I visit the site because I love their products too, but seriously - is everyone so brainwashed as in thinking any kind of advertising is cool? What is it about iAd that really makes some Apple consers so excited?
Five Foxconn workers attempt suicide in last month, are we the cause? (Engadget)
Apr 8th 2010 7:47AM You know, questions like these, "Is [this] going too far", "How do you feel when [something happens]?", or "Are We the Cause?" are questions penned by the media. I cannot help but sense a gasp after these questions. They seem overly dramatic the way they phrase questions where everything is chaos and drama. Engadget, please don't become like the dramatic media.
NBC-Comcast deal comes under Justice Department, FCC scrutiny (Engadget)
Mar 13th 2010 12:52AM I don't see the problem. AOL, an Internet company, also is affiliated with Warner Bros., a huge entertainment company. While I don't like Comcast because of their throttling on file-sharing, this is a separate issues.
On a side note, it's interesting how smaller companies in countries such as S. Korea tend to have their hands everywhere. You know LG, the company that makes cell phones? In Korea, they are also have their own cellular service, make apartment complexes, and chemical products such as fabric softener. I could go on, but LG is big!
The situation here about Comcast owning NBC isn't a problem, and for the US to tell how companies what to own and not own doesn't sound like a free market does it?
McDonald's WiFi will be free like obesity starting January (Engadget)
Dec 16th 2009 8:58AM @Mr w00t
It's quite understandable - while there are Starbucks-haters out there, the chain is a success because many customers see the place as elegant and is sophisticated - it gives the illusion that it's only for the elite. It's a place intended for conversation, reading, or doing homework.
McDonald's, on the other hand, gives America a bad name because it's a symbol of obesity. The age group is intended for children which adults just happen to go to. Fast food places are not intended for people to stay for hours. Besides - do we really want creeps to stay in the parking lot when the place is intended for kids?

Nov 23rd 2009 5:33AM I teach ESL in Korea and have been wanting to get one for quite some time. If I happen to have KT in my rural area of the province of Gangwon-do, I'll be the first to sign up.
LG's 15-inch OLED TV now blowing minds in South Korea (Engadget)
Nov 9th 2009 11:43AM It's not? Well that's okay. Any news about S. Korea on USA websites is fascinating to me, because I currently teach ESL in Korea. I especially love it when there are references to Daegu, Won (the currency), and especially the DMZ. I do have to admit, 15 inches isn't that big - and ₩ 3 million is more than I'm willing to pay for anything, even if it were for a decent-sized TV.
Engadget, keep up the South Korean gadget news about companies such as: LG, Samsung, SK Telecom mobile phones, and Hyundai coming! Is there an English feed for South Korea gadget news here? I couldn't find it. If it doesn't exist - please add it!
