Dog on Death Row Seeks Pardon From Florida's Governor (Pawnation OLD)
Dec 10th 2010 2:57AM Of course it's also hard to fault a dog for doing what comes naturally. Eternal vigilance is necessary with the owners! Dogs can go years and then do the unexpected.
Dog on Death Row Seeks Pardon From Florida's Governor (Pawnation OLD)
Dec 10th 2010 2:54AM Jack probably believed that Brandi was too close to his territory. Or believed that the sidewalk outside the house Was his territory. I have a dachshund female who's taken household security Very seriously since her mate passed away and she became the only dog - she Never used to do more than woof once, and now she has an intense Need to let the neighborhood know there's a sentinel on patrol! Anyway, she considers the sidewalk outside her house to either be her's or too close to what's her's. This is a terrific reminder to keep her on leash, although if a larger dog ever attacked her, I'd be in there myself defending. And the larger dog might not survive. (I don't mean to be "hating" but a family member's a family member.)

Choose Your Baby's Gender for $9,000 (Lemondrop)
Sep 10th 2010 12:12AM I need to finish reading all the comments.
To the people who think insemination is wrong and "against God" -- okay, so what does God think about all the women out there spreading their legs and having endless premartial sex? Some people don't want to have sex, but still want a baby. A tiny minority, I know, but I think God would traditionally have less of a problem with that. It's still "His choice" whether the woman becomes 'with child' or not. It doesn't work every time!
To the people who think we should all adopt whatever we want: DNA has been found to matter! You used to get the children of all the unwed mothers who came from largely fairly good homes, and were intelligent and creative. Now, quite a lot of the children up for adoption have at least one parent with a drug addiction! Who knows what they were doing while they were pregnant. Eat healthy? Do they have money for healthy food AND drugs?
To the people who think choosing the gender of your child is wrong... I can see where this would be abused in a male-oriented culture. I remember hearing some years back of the incredible shortage of girls due to China's one-child policy. Frankly, I think it's important to breed girls: In American society, women still have the greatest right and the greatest pull with their children. If you want your family and cultural values to be passed on to the next generation, you should bet on a female. Women are also hardier in health. They handle illness better. There's some theory that they handle pain better. I have nothing against boys. I would love to have a little boy... after I've had a girl or two and know that my genetic line is secure.
Missed Parent-Teacher Conferences Could Mean Jail Time for Parents (ParentDish)
Aug 22nd 2010 3:15AM Michele W: You can't green light hitting a child with a wooden spoon, across the board, because there are truly rotten parents who would abuse it. You might not. You might do it in a good way. But someone would call "not listening" on any poor child who didn't Agree with them. There are also children with both learning disabilities, and mental health problems that won't be diagnosed for a decade or two who can't listen as well as the average child. And hitting them would be abuse. You have to be very careful. I really, really know what I'm talking about, here.
Missed Parent-Teacher Conferences Could Mean Jail Time for Parents (ParentDish)
Aug 22nd 2010 3:05AM If I can invite the teachers to MY home, which is very close to both the elementary school and the highschool, for parent-teacher conferences, there won't be a problem. How's that for an idea?
