How the Post Office Can Make Money and Survive (WalletPop)
Jan 14th 2011 2:49PM Great idea Larry....lets change the pensions on everyone who already completed their working lives/careers and put them all in poverty for believing that the governmental rules/regulations and retirement under which they labored for 30 years or more are going to remain in force. I hope your pension fares as well.

Jan 14th 2011 2:43PM USPS workers receive GOVERNMENT PENSIONS WHEN THEY RETIRE. They are in the same health plan as all government employees. Call them whatever you want.
How the Post Office Can Make Money and Survive (WalletPop)
Jan 14th 2011 2:38PM USPS...United States Postal Service. SERVICE...not Company.
As with all entities controlled by our elected officials...the USPS serves BUSINESS by giving them huge breaks on mailing rates which burden the service by making the rest of the things that the post office does, mailing bills, bill payments, personal letters, etc, carry business on its shoulders. Does anyone believe that all the advertising we throw away weekly, what Postal insiders call COVERAGE, is charged what you and I pay for mailing a letter? THEY DO NOT. They have sweetheart rates given to them by our elected officials. The rest of the system must pay for the privilege of getting what we nearly all call "JUNK MAIL."
I believe that this governmental BENEFIT must be seen for what it is....A SERVICE. Lets keep the big picture on this issue, if we can. USPS does not have to make money....the price is right and if you don't like the service you have alternatives. Has anyone checked postal rates in other countries lately?
Larry Brown Resigns as Bobcats Coach, Paul Silas Named Interim Coach (Fanhouse NBA Blog)
Dec 22nd 2010 4:59PM There is no doubt that Larry Brown has been, and remains, one of the finest basketball coaches ever, both in the NBA and in College Basketball. He'll find another job soon, probably in the NBA.
Defense Does It Again as Mavericks Snuff Out Miami Heat's Streak (Fanhouse NBA Blog)
Dec 21st 2010 1:57PM It sure would have been journalistically sound to include the score of the game in the above article...huh?
Bob Feller, Hall of Fame Pitcher, Dies at 92 (Fanhouse MLB Blog)
Dec 16th 2010 1:08AM A genuine HOF pitcher and an American Patriot as well. Outspoken, honest, brutally frank...opinionated. His stats are impressive. Its always tricky to compare players from different eras...and it is my feeling that you need to compare a players stats to his peers, not to someone from a different generation. On that basis Feller ranks quite high on any list of greatest pitchers of all-time. His speed was dazzling and he was quite a competitor. The pitching staff he was part of was one of the best ever as well. However, if I'm the manager and I have to pick one guy to go out there and win the big game....it would now, and always, be Koufax.
Greatest Starting Rotations of All-Time; Where Will Phillies Fit? (Fanhouse MLB Blog)
Dec 15th 2010 1:08PM Lets not forget the late 1950's Milwaukee Braves... Bob Buhl, Lou Burdette and Warren Spahn. And also the Detroit Tigers with Denny McClain, Mickey Lolich and whoever....Two strong, outstanding starters allows your team to prevail in a 7 game series...In the above groups the 2nd bananas came through strongly in the World Series with Lolich and Burdette winning Series MVP honors over their more celebrated teammates.
Will Shaquille O'Neal Finish His Career in Turkey? (Fanhouse NBA Blog)
Dec 10th 2010 1:04AM Basketball, all over the globe, must compete with other venues for entertainment dollars. Stars in the entertainment field are those who put behinds in seats consistently. Shaq sure does that. Whether he's the Big Aristotle, the Big Cactus or the the Big Shamrock, people want to see him play basketball. I've sure enjoyed watching him for many years, whether I was rooting for the Rockets/Olajuwon against him, or for him when he played with the Lakers. If he can make more money he'd be crazy not to go to Turkey...or wherever else he can get paid. Basketball is played at a high level in the entire Mediterranean area. Many NBA stars have played there after finishing their NBA careers. How many butts do you think Shaq will put in the seats in Europe and the Middle East? I'm guessing there will be a lot of fans who want to say they saw him play. I'm glad I did.

Erik Spoelstra Reportedly Frustrating Heat (Fanhouse NBA Blog)
Nov 29th 2010 3:05PM Ridiculous coverage and commentary as well. WHO DOES SPOELSTRA work for? Hint:...he's at nearly every HEAT game watching intently.....2nd hint: He combs his hair straight back and even tho' he lives in Miami still thinks he's in Hollywood....last hint: He's an excellent judge of talent, both on the court and with coaches. These Superstars cannot and will not just be allowed to "be themselves." They need to be a team, not just three xlnt players who do what THEY want to do on the court. Forging a team from collected individuals takes time. Its a long season. Sit back enjoy the games and WAIT. If Riley decides Spoelstra is not the one to make these OLYMPIC HEROES into a team he will either do it himself, or find someone who will. As far as this season's NBA FINALS go...No matter who comes out of the East it will be....LAKERS IN 5 GAMES.
