Emotional Vampires: The 5 Most Common Types -- And How to Slay Them (MyDaily)

Jan 31st 2011 10:41AM First off; can we get a moderator on here that will MODERATE?! Please get these people OFF of here that want to talk about or sell something that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the subject at hand. Enough of all this garbage.
Now, to the story at hand. I know two 'emotional vampires' that are sucking my best friend to death. She is extremely ill as it is but these two people are her family and do everything they can to stress her out to the max. There is so much I could say but this is not the place to say it. I simply HATE what I see. I'm afraid that they are going to send her to an early grave...literally! I so wish that there was something that I could do about it.
For those of you who are being preyed upon by these kind of people...please get out from under them before they can do serious harm to you in one form or another.

Sexy Chefs: 10 Hottest Men in the Food Industry 2011 (Slashfood)

Jan 28th 2011 11:26AM Chef Gordon Ramsey and Curtis Stone are far and beyond my two favorite chefs, though Jamie Oliver is right in there too.
I see that the TV credits for Chef Ramsey have not included "Hell's Kitchen". Please say that this show is coming back for another season. It is...isn't it? If not, I really couldn't blame him...but on the other hand; there would go some great TV viewing.

My Unemployed Life: Single Mom Learns to Cut Corners and Get Creative (AOL Jobs)

Jan 24th 2011 12:56PM Tonya:
What a wonderful inspiration you are to your children and others who have found themselves in the same boat.
At soon-to-be 67; I still work as a Home Care Provider through I.H.S.S. (In Home Supportive Services) here in California. Our newly elected governor, Jerry Brown is about to slice and dice this much-needed program putting me and others like me in the unemployment line.
I was especially interested to see that you took up gardening. I, too am a hobby gardener. At the last place we rented (for over 15 years); I'd toiled the red clay into a beautiful black and nutritious garden soil for planting. Going into my third gardening season here at our 'new' house rental; the soil still needs so much more tending to.
I've done some canning but have found it to be very expensive what with all the jars (most of which never come back when I give away jams, etc.) and all the sugar and other ingredients involved in canning. How do you do it cheaply?
I've always been interested in having a nursury of sorts. However, this is far beyond my income to even think about getting started in and as I said; we rent. However, I have thought about starting up some plants from seed to sell. But, even that, I fear would take a lot of money in start-up costs and I certainly can't afford a glass house for my plants. I do have a couple of miniature ones though. Tell me, Tonya...if you're reading this...do you have any suggestions as to what I can do to get started in trying to raise small plants for sale? (Swap Meat, etc.). Also, if anyone else who is reading this can give me some clues on doing this; I would very much appreciate any help you could give me.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and may God bless you and your family, Tonya for not turning to alcohol or drugs and having the 'Oh, woe is me' attitude as so many young people do today. You're a God-send to your children.
Good luck and God bless...

"Biggest Loser" Tortures Contestants, Viewers in Season Premiere (That's Fit)

Jan 9th 2011 11:58AM There's one thing you can say about "The Biggest Loser"...It is NOT boring! Anyone who has been following this program for a number of years will attest to that. Being a weight loss show; you would expect something out of the past with something like the "Jack LaLane Show". Nothing against Mr. LaLane...but that show was boring. What do you dissenters out there want anyhow? There is always something new and different happening on 'TBL'.
I do have one dissention though and that is that they did not show who the new trainers are in the first show of the season. I thought that by the end of the show that we would know. It's ridiculous to carry it on past next week's show.
And I agree with one commenter who said, that 'truly obese people should not be on this show'. Instead they should be put under strick doctor's care and a less intensive workout. This could be a heart attack and a law suit waiting to happen.
All-in-all though, this is a GREAT show and Julian will be very much missed after this season.
Good luck to all on "The Biggest Loser".

Octogenarians Fined $12,000 Over Cat (Pawnation OLD)

Jan 8th 2011 12:51PM Here's another shining example of beuracrazy gone mad. I was under the impression that the majority of people who live in condos OWN them. If this is indeed the case; why is there so much hoopla about an old lady's cat who is beneficial to her health? Is the cat running the hallways urinating and leaving feces behind? And what's this craziness of charging them an exorbitant fine that they'll never be able to pay? What's next...the hooscow for them? Let's go all the way and use a 'cat' of nine tails on them or put them in stocks as was done in the Puritan days. Sound extreme? Well...so is this whole rediculous case. The elderly have enough to go through. Let them have their cat!

'American Idol': Sudden Death Semifinals and More Changes for Season 10 (AOL TV)

Jan 7th 2011 11:59AM Someone here mentioned something about singers 'singing' rock songs. Since when do you have to have any musical ability to 'sing' rock music...?and I use 'sing' and 'music' very loosely.

'American Idol': Sudden Death Semifinals and More Changes for Season 10 (AOL TV)

Jan 7th 2011 11:51AM After watching "American Idol" for a number of years; I pretty much gave up on it last year, viewing only a little during commercials on my other programs.
I became disenchanted with AI after seeing that it was nothing more than a popularity contest. It makes no difference if someone can sing or not. The votes come in for whoever becomes popular with the younger generation.
That's another thing...There should be ONE vote for EACH contestant. However, it's all about money. The more you text or phone in a vote; the more money the phone company makes. It's too commercial for me.

Bob Harper Exclusive: Inside Out Method (That's Fit)

Jan 3rd 2011 12:41PM "The Biggest Loser" is one of the best weight loss programs on TV as far as inspiration goes. Too bad it doesn't give out the best exercises to use and how long to do these exercises...not to mention a healthy diet and its recipes. But then, I guess this is how they make their money...what with the DVDs and all.
I will soon be 67 and have had two different hip replacements...one in each hip. I'm still active and still work part time as a home care provider. I'm very much overweight and desperately want to lose the excess baggage I carry around. My main concern is: 'How do I lose weight without messing up my titanium hip joints'? These are NOT permanent and already one is starting to come a bit loose. I'm mainly concerned about the exercises. I want something more than just walking. I want to work out...I just don't want to mess up my hips. Can anyone who knows what they're talking about give me any tips on the proper exercises I can do without risk to my hips? I don't have a treadmil or any other fancy equipment and don't have the money right now to join a gym. Any workable advice would be very much appreciated.
Thank you, God bless and wishing all a very happy and healthy New Year.

The Formula for Selling Anybody, Anything, Any Time (AOL Jobs)

Dec 10th 2010 12:13PM This is not about a job with any company but more about the kind of work that I do.

Many years ago, as a child; my Aunt Mildred and Uncle Merlin would come up to Milwaukee, Wisconsin from Rockford, Illinois to take me back to their home for the summer. While there; I would go to work in their motel and cottages that they owned. Work took presidence at all times. Although I wasn't too happy to see them come early summer when school let out; they did teach me a strong work ethic. As a child; I learned how to do things the RIGHT way. There was NO room for slopiness or simply passing up what I didn't really care to do. I learned how to clean the rooms properly and making them presentable to the public who rented them. I learned how to use a mangle in ironing sheets and other linens. Above all; I learned how to take pride in my work.

What I learned as a child stood me in good stead as an adult. Even today, at soon-to-be 67; I still work part-time as a Home Care Provider. Most of what this job entails is, of course cleaning the clients homes and of course, washing their dishes correctly. However, my job duties also entail me to take my clients to the doctor or go grocery shopping for them (or sometimes, with them). Also, I do light yard work; see to it that they get to their doctor's appointments on time and with certain clients; make sure that they get their medications on time. This also includes setting up their medications for the week. This job can (and often does) entail other unexpected things that come up...like remembering their family members birthdays or other special occasions...visiting them at the hospital and spending some time with them...and then there are the times when someone will get really senile and rub excrement all over the bathroom walls and door. (Yes...this has happened to me...TWICE)! However, I told this particular client that there would NOT be a third time or she would have to clean it up as I would be gone from there.

For the most part; it is a pleasure working with the seniors and those that are for the most part...home bound. One lady and I have become the best of friends. Sometimes on her better days...when she is not feeling too badly; we will slip off to the garden nursury...although this is rare; but something we both LOVE to do. We'll even treat each other to a luncheon once or twice a year.

The main thing to remember on this kind of employment is the fact that the care provider must have a world of patience. Because it is not only the clients; you have to think about but their oftentimes; uncaring families who come in to take advantage of them as well.

Thank you Aunt Mildred and Uncle Merlin for instilling in me a strong and caring work ethic. Although they are long past; they made it possible for me to make a living...especially in this time when jobs are so hard to come by...my phone is still ringing off the hook with someone wanting me to go to work for them.

So, for you young folks out there who have parents or others that you stay with who ride your backside to clean up after yourself...don't argue with them...thank them. You never know when you might just make a living at cleaning up after others. There are those who will sometimes fire you for no good reason what-so-ever. Then, there are those who will be very greatful to have you there helping them. Plus, it means so much to hear..."I don't know what I'd do without you". This is a mark of a job well done. I'm so greatful to my Aunt and Uncle.

The 10 Best Food Network Shows (AOL TV)

Nov 20th 2010 10:56AM Although a limited reality series; it is easy to get hooked on "Hell's Kitchen" with Chef Gordon Ramsey. I don't necessarily agree with his methods; but I do agree with his high standards on cooking. Way to go, Chef Ramsey.
