Actually, yes: The Yankees certainly did buy the World Series (Daily Finance)
Nov 16th 2009 10:46PM It's not "algebra"? Are you kidding? We're supposed to take you seriously after that?
Besides, I thought the entire point of *professional* sports was that teams bought players. They are, you know, paid to play, right? If the Brewers had won, would they somehow not have bought their team? This isn't high school baseball, where the players are from the community; this is a multi-million dollar business that somehow has people like you fooled into holding onto some kind of team loyalty.
Sexy Rainbow Brite Makeover Stomps on Childhood (Lemondrop)
Oct 16th 2009 7:58AM I'm as horrified as the next person, but I wish you could be a little more careful with the details! Patty O'Green is not one of the male characters, and Indigo had brown skin way back in the 80s. The points you made are valid, but your supporting data is flawed.
Texting Students Force Professor to Walk Out of Class (Switched)
Apr 7th 2008 2:20PM I'd have that coming if I were texting instead of paying attention.
I'd be incredibly angry if I was paying attention to the lecture.
The professor should ask the students who aren't paying attention to leave, not punish the entire class.

I'm going to have to go with 'poopie', myself. Your version wins the Google war, but -ie makes a significant showing.
Since this posting was irrelevant to just about everything ever, I don't really feel that my comment should be relevant, either.
'w00t' is WOTY (Word Of The Year) (Switched)
Dec 12th 2007 10:06AM It's a word if people use it, as any linguist will tell you. Dictionaries are meant to be descriptive, not prescriptive.
But, seriously, the phrase 'grammatically correct' has no place in this article. It doesn't even apply. It sure would be nice if we still had journalists instead of bloggers.

Family Begs for $1 Million To Buy Fancy Apartment (News Bloggers)
Dec 7th 2007 1:54PM It still seems sad to me that a family is being forced out of their home because of the ridiculous cost of actually living in the city.
Want a Wii for Christmas? Get in Line. (Switched)
Nov 15th 2007 3:30PM Well, as a Gamestop employee, I can promise that our stores aren't hiding consoles. I can also tell you how to get one.
Find out when your local store gets it shipments. For my store, that's between 11 and 12 on weekdays. Call around that time every day and ask if the shipment has arrived. If the answer is yes, ask if there are any Wiis available.
If the employee who answered hasn't processed the shipment yet, don't freak out and get mad--we have customers to deal with. Just ask when you should call back to find out. Chances are, 15-30 minutes will do it.
If there were Wiis in the shipment (we get 6 at a time, usually), hustle on down to the store. Don't be afraid to ask if the employee will hold one for you because you are getting in the car RIGHT NOW. Some stores will allow this.
If an employee does hold one for you or stop what he's doing to help you out, be nice and pick up an Edge card subscription. It will save you money on games in the future and make his job a lot easier. Or think about reserving a game. It's only $5 and it comes off the cost of the game later, and, again, it really helps the employee out.
(Promising to sign up for a subscription over the phone might convince someone that you're worth holding a console for, too, but don't count on it. Chances are, whether they can hold one for you while you drive to the store is dependent on what the manager says, and an employee will be in trouble if they disregard that.)
The Kosher Phone for Orthodox Jews (Switched)
Nov 7th 2007 5:19PM Did you seriously just cave into people who thought "can jew hear me now" was offensive?

Anybody in Amsterdam going to to the Bright Day/Night tech event tonight? Yours truly will be making an appearance.

Or perhaps it's my Verizon phone that won't allow it without a Verizon SIM. Either way, it ain't much use without data.

Wish I could be using Glass while wandering around Amsterdam this morning. Sadly this prepaid SIM I got doesn't allow tethering.
