Jan 12th 2011 10:51AM I think the Model S is a great-looking car, but the proof is in the doing. The first 90% is easy to do- look at how many boutique manufacturers are out there. It's that last 10% that is so difficult and costly to achieve. It's like buying a Gumpert or Ascari versus a Ferrari or Lamborghini. Anyone who goes into this thinking they're getting a vehicle as well-sorted as one from a major manufacturer is going to be in for a rude surprise. Those who are willing to accept a few rough edges will be rewarded with ownership of a very unique vehicle.

Dec 29th 2010 9:31PM ZipCar and iGo both do this in Chicago already, though iGo only rents crap-boxes for the eco-weenie crowd, complete with a self-righteous propaganda bumper sticker that say "my other car is a bus" or something else to that ilk. ZipCar rents respectable rides like the BMW 3-series, but they (as well as iGo) slather their cars with so many advertising stickers you feel like you're driving a rolling billboard. It may tickle your driving senses, but you won't look so hot picking up your date or business customer.

Dec 3rd 2010 1:49PM I had the displeasure of renting a 2009 Journey a couple months ago in Florida. It was without a doubt the worst vehicle I have driven in nearly two decades. I was saved when I discovered that the driver-side door lock was broken so the rental car office had to swap it for something different. I happily swapped it while thinking "wow, maybe Chrysler did deserve to die." Fast forward to the present, and I have to say I am impressed with what they have done to it. I'll reserve final judgement if/when I rent another one but I doubt I'll be as emotionally disturbed by this model as I was by the older one. Nice work, Dodge Boys.

Oct 20th 2010 2:31PM In my 20 years of driving, never did I hate an interior more than the one night I rented a Journey. Cheap looking hard plastics and a gauge cluster that looked like it was stolen from an old K-car. It made me actually wish Chrysler had gone belly-up. I considering myself lucky that the driver-side keylock was busted so the rental agency had to give me something else.
