Dec 7th 2010 5:08PM Why do all these people have to be tipped? For crying out loud, they are providing a service, and probably are tipped well throughout the year (i.e. hairdresser, manicurist)--if anything THEY should be presenting their clients with a small token of appreciation. I am so against this tipping extra for the holiday. Government employees, such as the postal service are not allowed to accept gifts. When I retired from DoD a civilian contractor gave me a $250 gift card, which I had to promptly return to him. Even during the holidays when contractors sent gifts to the office we had to share with everyone else in the office, no one was allowed to accept the gift for themselves. If you feel you have to "tip" your hairdresser, pick up a latte from Starbucks on your way to your appointment.
