How Old Is Too Old to Wear a Miniskirt? (Stylelist)
May 13th 2011 11:38PM What a bunch of hooey. Look at Tina Turner, that woman can rock stilettos and minis until the day she dies. I think it should be wear what fits well (regardless of hem length) and what you feel confident and sexy in. I'm turning 40 this year and I'm still wearing my cute summer dresses. And what happens at 61? We can't go swimming at all? Ridiculous. Whoever they polled needs to grow tf up.
Better Ways to Spend $40 Than on Pajama Jeans (WalletPop)
Jan 8th 2011 12:50AM I think they're cute. But they're too expensive for what they are. I am right now wearing a nice pair of yoga pants that I did errands in today. $12 on sale at Marshalls. Why on Earth would anyone pay $39.95 (and shipping and handling on top of that) for those pants? Jeggings are sold at Target and most denim now has spandex in it (at least for women). PJ jeans are a waste of money.
Family Confirms Tabloid Reports That Aretha Franklin Is Suffering From Cancer (BV Newswire)
Dec 9th 2010 3:10AM I am praying for you, sister. I do not know you personally, but you are one of God's children, just like me. I've lost family and friends to cancer and actually have some signs that I might have to confront the Big C myself. Bless your heart, the Lord will watch over you and I will include you in my prayers just as I would my dearest family.
Doctors, Lawyers in Luxury Cars Hurt Worst by Recession (AOL Jobs)
Nov 30th 2010 2:22AM Oh good grief. I was laid off in May. (from my mediocre paying job that I was passionate about). I had a heart attack in August (with no health insurance) then my heart failed. I finally got work a month ago (better paying job, passionate about it) but they ran out of work and laid us all off. I just got hired again. (back to mediocre pay, fringe element of life's passion). I have a Toyota Corolla. (that I bought used on a favorable term loan from my credit union).
I am playing the littlest violin for lawyers and doctors who have to downsize their masarati. Sorry AOL, but I only respect you for email and I use my gmail more. So glad you're free because I wouldn't pay for this drivel.
My Unemployed Life: The Forgotten Woman (AOL Jobs)
Nov 27th 2010 10:20PM Mollee... have you thought about taking in a roommate? I broke down and got a place to share with a stranger to help ends meet. It's not ideal, but applying their rent towards your mortgage and utilities can help a lot. Also (at least in Los Angeles) foster animal groups will pay you to keep foster dogs at your home. It's not tons of money but every little bit helps. I also fall back on transcription skills I learned to help myself out a decade ago. Think of all your various skills and see how they might apply to help you out. Good luck!
My Unemployed Life: The Forgotten Woman, But Now Not Alone (AOL Jobs)
Nov 27th 2010 10:11PM You don't have to put your pets down. Contact some local no kill shelters and see if they have any foster care available for your pets.
My Unemployed Life: The Forgotten Woman, But Now Not Alone (AOL Jobs)
Nov 27th 2010 10:01PM Hey Mollee. Don't give up. I was laid off in May (not quite as long as you, but still). Then I had a heart attack and my heart failed. (joy) Now I've gotten another job, the medical care I need (being unemployed and having a heart attack allowed the state of California to give me free care, who knew).
I agree, everyone responds to women with children, harder when we're not parents. I would suggest next time, don't loan money to friends and keep a better handle on savings. You will find a new job, if I had a need I would help you. This economy humbles the best of us and what goes around comes around, so the people who have shunned you will get theirs.
Keep your head up. If you'd like to email me off board, let me know. I work in entertainment, so sporadic unemployment is a regular problem for me and my friends but we might have an idea about how to earn a decent living in a temp project for you if you tell me what your skills are.
Tips for Facing Infertility During the Holidays (ParentDish)
Nov 24th 2010 9:52PM Thanks for writing this. I am not only "barren" but also have several medical conditions that would make pregnancy deadly. AND my fiance dumped me. So the holidays are very odd to me.
When Adult Children Fight, a Mother's Heart Breaks (ParentDish)
Nov 2nd 2010 2:14AM At a point, you have to realize that your "children" are no longer children. There's nothing that you could've done. Although channeling the "wild" one's energy into something positive might have helped. Perhaps he could've worked with Greenpeace or other organizations that tried to change things. Maybe he could've been a politician. But what will bring them back together, if anything, is a medical emergency. My sister and I are vastly divergent creatures. However my health, sadly, is pretty bad and she always rallies when I need her. (and vice versa when she had stomach issues a few years ago). It takes diversity to make us grow closer.
