Luxist Giveaway: Tacori Smoky Quartz and Prasiolite Earrings (Luxist)
Sep 27th 2010 9:02PM I have to say that I love the color combination of the Smokey Quartz with the Prasiolite. The beautiful chocolately brown combined with the pale light green set into the bright yellow gold is simply scrumptous.
The way the stones are cut and polished makes them shimmer and shine.
While I already own some pieces which incorporate these same colors, they don't include them together so to see them in this combo is fresh and breathtaking. I especially love them for Fall.
I know quite a bit of jewelry and it's about I love my baubles. My husband jokingly tells me "you're just like a magpie; you love anything that shines and sparkles". I tell him, "how could I not, my birthstone is a Diamond". I'm a Taurus and my birthday is in April.
I would so much love to win these earrings and if I did, I would wear them with everything from formal to jeans. I believe in enjoying your jewels and wearing them on a regular basis, not keeping them saved away and afraid that someone will steal them or take them from you...... So, I hope you consider me for this great giveaway of yours!!
New 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' Trailer Reveals Dark Times Ahead (Moviefone Blog)
Jun 30th 2010 3:17PM Since I only read one of the many Harry Potter books, yet have seen mostly all but the Half Dark Prince (I'm watching DVD today)I have to say "Im Excited". We actually read and discussed this book in my English Lit class in college this past year. We also watched one or part of the first movie. I was hooked after the first book and movie. This trailer looks like it encompasses everything past/present. I can't wait to see it and am planning on going with or without my husband, who doesn't really like going to the movies. This has to be seen with other Potter fans, in a LOUD theatre with lots of movie popcorn. Plus, the 3D effects are probably awesome. So, even if it doesn't follow the book for those of us who simply enjoy the movies, I say bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Doggie Diaries: Pippi Gets Carsick (Pawnation OLD)
Apr 23rd 2010 5:18AM I woulld suggest making frequent stops. Dogs cannot possibly ride in a car for 5 hours without stopping. I wouldn't expect humans to do this, so why should dogs?
We have a Scottish Terrier and while he loves to go for rides, while in the city or traveling at slow speeds (35 and below) he loves to run from one window to the next in my Explorer with his head out and nose as far as he can extend it. His little tongue sticking out with what looks like the biggest smile. His favorite vehicle is our big motorhome. In fact, he usually rides shotgun and I end up on the couch which doesn't bother me as it's my only time to nap...
When we go by his favorite park in my Explorer, he stands in the middle of the console and will give me a gentle nudge or smooch on my shoulder as if to say "Thanks Mom" because he knows we will be stopping soon.
For hints: Carry a small water container and bottle water, some favorite treats and talk to him gently and quietly. Last but not least, cover the back seat with a cover or blanket which your dog can curl up on. He will want to feel safe and comfy. What better way than with some comforting items from home. If all else fails, try taking along one of his favorite toys.
Wish you the best.... there's nothing like traveling with your dog.
Unemployment Benefits Expiring for Thousands on Monday (Politics Daily)
Apr 5th 2010 9:37PM Hisus, you say that there were over 100,000 jobs added last month and that if people truly wanted to work they would. Well, what I would like to know, is where exactly were these jobs and what type of work was it? ...How dare you! Until you've been there and know the facts, keep your so-called facts to yourself...
Unemployment Benefits Expiring for Thousands on Monday (Politics Daily)
Apr 5th 2010 9:02PM Why is it that the people on the benches making all the decisions for all of the "real working people" are ALL set for life with such niceties such as health insurance benefits for life, with retirement benefits for life and the 401K's that go with it, not to mention everything else they can squeeze out of the rest of us tax payers. These same people are denying those of us who are unemployed because either our jobs were cut due to outsourcing to other countries for cheaper labor, or because of the recession which led to employers not being able to afford to keep staff and either had to let them go or even go so far as close their businesses down for good? So, because of ONE MAN, millions of families and or people will be out of any type or financial resources. For those who think it's all fine and or great, you try walking in the shoes of those who have lost jobs and even after months and months of looking, still can't find anything. The only thing we've had to fall back on and were grateful for was our meager unemployment benefits. They may not have been much, but at least they put food on the table and paid the utilites. All such luxuries some of you may simply take for granted. I'm certain Senator Tom Coburn doesn't go to bed at night worrying about how he's going to pay for his bills. And you people think this is great? Obama is simply try to help people from going under even further and all some people can do is complain that he hasn't done enough in one years time! Well, remember this. He has to CLEAN UP THE MESS that it took TWO BUSH organizations to make! So, give him a break! He's got the best intentions, the smarts and the what with to do it. He's not all words and promises and like the Bush before him, not willing to send millions to go fight a war which should've never started. Heaven help us all.....
Shake Up at 'One Life to Live' (AOL TV)
Apr 5th 2010 4:54PM I too am sick of the whole Jessica mind/memory loss. Someone, please pull a plug on it already... It's so boring watching her running around trying to act like a high schooler when not even Starr nor Langston act that childish and weird. Now, onto Fish and Kyle. These two could stay and bring in a new dynamic as a gay couple raising their newly discovered child together. I agree, Schuyler needs to go- what's with his weird eye twitching anyway? Oh, and enough of Mitch and his mental side-kick fiend... As for Rex & Gigi, either get them married or bring in someone new for Rex, this pair is now beyond boring. I miss Mo and his sweetie and most definitely, David! He's so great at coming up with great schemes and getting in trouble but somehow always finding a way to get back in good with those he's done wrong. Now, Marty needs to quit her moaning and act like a professional. John and Nattie belong together, let's make it happen people. Finally, last but not least, Christian and Laiyla are SOOOOO BORING.... come on, I know it's just not me and if it is, it's for a darn good reason. They two just don't have any chemistry together. It's like trying to make oil and vinegar mix, they just DON"T!! Oh, one more thing, I did like the conniving Stacy and her sidekick pole- dancing buddy. They at least shaked up things in Llanview for a while. I had hoped they'd be around for a while. The writers messed up by killing Stacy off so soon and then kicking her buddy out as well.
Let's hope someone fixes things up real soon or I too might jump ship. It's clear things are getting a bit to boring!!
'Will Marry for Health Insurance' -- One Woman's Desperate Quest (Lemondrop)
Feb 9th 2010 12:24PM This woman doesn't have all her facts straight! A HIPPA has nothing to do with where a person goes for health coverage. It's simply known as the Health Insurance Privacy Protection Act. Which basically means that your medical records or information are considered private and the doctor's offices are not allowed to let these out to just anyone who aks. It's set up to cover both the patient and doctor offices.
I, too am a person with health issues and am only currently worklng part-time and going to school full-time. I am not married and don't know what I would do if I had to raise a family, so I just hope this lady finds what she is looking for. But, I also hope she realizes that what she finds over the internet is not always a guarantee. As she discovered unfortunately, there is divorce and health issues can sometimes and do destroy even the best and strongest of relationships. My has suffered tremendously and yet we've maintained (and I say maintained) to keep our relationship intact somehow. I always tell my significant other that someday it could be him on the receiveing end so he has to be understanding or simply leave if he wants or feels he can find someone better. Since he hasn't, it must mean he either truly loves me or feels he won't find anyone better than I. I am a good, hard-working and very loving person. Not to mention a fabulous lover and great fun-loving partner. Just because I have my moments of illness doesn't and shouldn't erase all those years put into a relationship.
Luv Coach Q&A: Loyalty & Lying (BV on Love)
Feb 4th 2010 12:00AM Oh please! It doesn't matter that she looked thru her husbands phone to find out what was going on. She had her suspicions and followed through with them. I went through the same thing more than once and it made me sick, literally physically sick to my stomach at the thought of actually finding something which would prove he was cheating on me! I confronted both he and she and was told it was nothing, and they would stop right away. Well, a couple months later, they were at it again. We split only to get back together again 7-8 months later. He vowed never to do this again and told me I was the only one for him. This was fine until about 5 or so years later. He did this once again, only it wasn't with just one woman. We owned a boat and kept it docked in a small town over an hours drive away. I worked two jobs in order to keep our expenses down to just about nil since he was unemployed. During this time, he would leave for days at a time to work on refinishing the boat. It was during a weekend on the boat with friends and some acqaintances from the local little town that one of the shop owners said to me after being introduced that my husband "always has some of the prettiest girlfriends". It made me sick and so angry. I truly wanted to run and never look back. My close friend and her husband looked at me with so much pity in their eyes, I was so humiliated. I left and didn't look back. Please don't make the mistake of taking him back because some bastards will just never change, it's in their DNA no matter how many times they promise to change!! I lost out on having children because of my so called "love" for this man, lost out on having a decent and loving and honest man because I was too stupid and believed every lie this jerk always told me and took him back time and again. It's too late to go back in time, but not too late to try to be happy with the time I have left....
Book your airline tickets! Travel is cheaper for now, but it may rise in 2010 (Daily Finance)
Oct 16th 2009 6:00AM I must say that I too agree with a number of the posts regarding the terrible service or lack of service one receives when flying these days! Years ago, both my husband and I were on our way home from San Francisco and somehow the airline made a mistake and not only put us on seperate planes but also seperate departure times.
Well, his plane left right on time and my plane was grounded for over 2-3 hours because they couldn't get the darn door closed. They had to call the "repair guy" who showed up with a ratchet and some other type of tool! It was in the middle of summer, the flight attendant's said there was no water and they only had a few packs of peanuts available. We were told because it was supposed to be a "somewhat" shorter flight, they didn't order the meal carts. Yet, they sat in the back drinking their Cokes and eating chips and fruit.... I was furious and demanded a refund but was told that since the delay was out of their control, they could not reimburse me nor anyone else. I've chosen not to fly since. In fact, will only fly locally if it's absolutley required which is from Seattle to Eastern Wa. The rest of the time, we take our luxurious RV without worry of being stranded on the tarmac with no relief in sight!!
101 Back to School Tips (Shopping Articles Blog)
Aug 7th 2009 7:30AM Just relax and enjoy the last couple weeks of Summer Vacation with your kids and family. Take them shopping for school supplies with list in hand and let them pick out what "they want".
Remember, they're the ones who'll be toting these things back and forth. Plus, think back to when being a kid also meant being cool and having something that everyone else had. Make back to school a time to look forward to and also to remember!
