Tale of the Titans: Black Filmmakers Spike Lee and Tyler Perry (BV Newswire)
Nov 10th 2010 4:32PM HOLLYWOOD isn't LETTING TYLER PERRY DO ANYTHING. Tyler Perry doesn't even work out of HOLLYWOOD--his massive studio is in ATLANTA much to the chagrin of Hollywood executives.
So typical of "knee-grows" like you to give white folks credit for anything and everything African-Americans do. HOLLYWOOD hasn't BANKROLLED one Tyler Perry Project--he finances all of his projects himself or in conjunction with others like Oprah Winfrey.
This man has worked long and hard and has invested his OWN money to do what he does. By writing and producing his own plays for the African-American dispora, he has created a movie DEMOGRAPHIC of HIS OWN--not one developed by Hollywood.
I'm glad that African-Americans like Tyler Perry DON'T HAVE YOUR MENTALITY. We'd still be whistling Dixie while picking cotton & thanking "massah" for "LETTING" US DO IT - LOL!
Thank God for Tyler, Oprah and yes Spike.

Nov 10th 2010 4:18PM Black people aren't anymore DIVIDED than any other group---if we were, your black a$$ would be picking cotton somewhere or cleaning some white folk's house for peanuts.
You are no BLACK revolutionary--you and other black folks need to quit trying to "speak" like you're back in the 60s during the Civil Rights Movement, lecturing to the race. It's so tired & old.
Just because black folks have a "difference of opinion" among themseles, doesn't make them DIVIDED. It makes US diverse & complex like any other culture.

Nov 10th 2010 4:09PM So do whites when they make fun of hillbillies, trailer park whites, southern whites, and poor white trash in general. What's ya point twit? Furthemore--what's it to YOU?
Go TROLL somewhere else.

Nov 10th 2010 4:03PM No--this has nothing to do with BLACK people not STICKING together as YOU say. I think Tyler Perry's box office dollars are PROOF of that.
This is the opinion of ONE black movie director. Who told YOU that Spike Lee was speaking for all of US?
Grow up and quit ya STEREOTYPING, GENERALIZING & PATHOLOGIZING. People like YOU act just like bigoted white folks...you try to apply every negative issue or event to EVERY black person when it happens.

Nov 10th 2010 3:06PM We shouldn't support Tyler Perry because he's BLACK--NO, we should support him for trying to build an INDUSTRY that will PUT a lot of US to work in an industry that systematically locks US out.
Two talented and passionate brothers BUT who died and made Spike Lee the GOD of black cinema? DON'T GET ME WRONG---I love them both. But Tyler Perry (as well as Lee Daniels) has the right to produce the kinds of movies as HE sees fit and put them out there for the people to CHOOSE or NOT CHOOSE to go and see.
This man worked DAMN HARD for years writing/producing plays geared towards African-Americans by INVESTING his OWN MONEY. He LITERALLY created his own demographic from SCRATCH. He also has given countless numbers of African-Americans a chance to work in an industry that pretty much IGNORES their talents--from actors to behind the scene jobs such as camera persons, grips, costume design, etc., you name it. HE TOOK ON HOLLYWOOD.
Why can't Spike Lee and others be happy Tyler's FORMULA for tapping into the African-America dispora HAS BEEN PROVEN TO BE OUT RIGHT SUCCESSFUL--his movies are sometimes comedic, thought-provoking, and just out right entertaining. Do I like everything he does? NO--but that doesn't MAKE ME RIGHT.
Instead of HATING, maybe Spike should meet with Tyler Perry and have a "meeting of the minds." HE MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING.
...and to you macho black men complaining about Tyler Perry putting on women's clothing to play "Madea"------SHUT UP! It's been done for CENTURIES (go read some Greek history)--Tyler Perry didn't start it. Get over yourselves.
QUIT HATING--ALL OF YOU.
Is Getting a Degree Really the Best Option? (AOL Jobs)
Nov 9th 2010 2:04PM Thanks Vinnie--and I realize that. I have friends and relatives in both fields of study and they're doing just fine. I was just challenging Ole Bob's obviously biased, bigoted perspective--which by the way, I PERSONALLY don't find funny...but whatever gets your "funny" on--go ahead & LOL!
'Reality Bites Back' Explores the Troubling Truth About Reality TV (AOL TV)
Nov 9th 2010 8:56AM I'm an African-American female and I quit watching Tyra Banks' Top Model Show after ONE SEASON and I couldn't "stand" her talk show and couldn't even get through a SEASON of it. Anyone who thinks this woman has the interest of WOMEN, let alone African-American women, at heart is as DELUSIONAL as she is. Her behavior towards the young women on her show(s) is as insensitive and exploitive as the industry that "molded" her. AND IT'S ABOUT TIME SOMEONE TOLD HER!
As for Reality TV in general, I don't have a problem with it except--people are grown (in most cases) and if they make the decision to be a part of a show, they're the ones that have to handle the consequences--good or bad. But to label all Reality TV shows as problematic is unfair. Some are just right out entertaining--like all of the "HOUSEWIVES" series. From Orange County to Atlanta--these women are off the chain and I LOVE IT!
Reality TV is here to stay. Don't like a particular show--do like I do, get your remote & change the channel.
Is Getting a Degree Really the Best Option? (AOL Jobs)
Nov 8th 2010 4:53PM I have wondered about the value of a degree in "White" Studies or what some would call "American History." If ignorance is "bliss"--Ol Bob obviously has one of those degrees--lol.
The Marie Claire 'Fat People' Story Calls for Therapy, Not an Apology (Lemondrop)
Oct 27th 2010 4:27PM No one said your DUMB A$$ had to be overjoyed--just mind your D@MN BUSINESS. What gives YOU or anyone else the right to harass a person because they don't look the way YOU feel they should look--WEIGHT WISE?
You can say whatever you want. But if you ever have the COURAGE to insult a fat person to their face, I think they should be allowed to BODY SLAM your ignorant a$$ to the floor--and you shouldn't be allowed to sue - LOL!
And before you go off on your rant...I'm 55, 5'6", 145 lbs-- and I just can't stand ADULT BULLIES!
