Hair removal and girls - how young is too young? {ParentDish}
Aug 16th 2008 9:24PM I agree! This has got to be some form of child abuse! I'd love to see the parents withstand that pain. Yikes! Way to demean a child. How about teaching her that she is lovely just as she is? She's only been on the planet for 6 years!!!! I am stunned that the salon would go ahead and do it anyway. So what if they lose a customer. That is just not right. Who is sticking up for this child? Imagine what her self image will be like at 15??? Too bad her mom is so insecure about her own looks that she must project it onto her daughter. Therapy MOM!
Doctor reprimanded for secret sterilization {ParentDish}
Aug 13th 2008 11:43AM Posters keep commenting that the woman had a learning disability. Where is this information coming from? If you have a learning disability, you are still a normal intelligent person. Often more so than the people around you! Now if you are profoundly mental disabled, this is totally different from a learning disability. A learning disability is usually a learning difference. The person has some type of disability that stops them from learning in the traditional manner. They are not of low IQ!
Besides, even if tis person was a vegetable, the doctor performed a procedure that she did not have consent to do.
Preparing for a daughter {ParentDish}
Aug 11th 2008 2:46PM Hi!
I have one of each and they are both teenagers now. I too worried about the boy thing. What do I do with this?? It went very well. As with anything, you get used to it! Our daughter was very tiny and a little bit scary even though she was our second. She is still petite but a lovely, lively girl. He is the sensitive one, she is more thick skinned. I dressed my daughter in lots of blue since money was a concern. I always put a bit of pink on her to balance it out. My sweetie had no hair for almost 3 years!
I found the navy blue items and khaki to be the most useful when they were growing so fast. I would take a pair of my son's khaki jeans and add pink buttons and
a little pink embroidery on a back pocket. Presto! Girls jeans! I loved Land's End for their sturdy clothing. The items I bought went through at least 6 kids before it went in the Goodwill box. Money well spent.
Enjoy both sexes. They bring so much to your world.

School district gets tough on dress code violators {ParentDish}
Aug 3rd 2008 9:46PM Our middle school does a great job of enforcing it's dress code. However, our HS is regional. It is in a very wealthy area. When I asked about the dress code, our poor principal said that they have difficulty enforcing it because of all the parents.
He said that they have parents coming in threatening to sue the school for harassment and fathers furious that a male teacher would look at their daughter "like that". If your child is dressed "like that" then they should be sent home! But what happens when the mom walks in dressed "like that"?
People, put some clothes on in public! And make sure your children are wearing appropriate clothing to school and keep it on.
TSA pulls pants off of elderly man during search {Gadling}
Jul 28th 2008 8:18PM My husband travels frequently and often escorts an elderly board member to meetings. Without fail, the elderly man is frisked and wanded. He does not have any metal parts! The poor thing is exhausted enough already. Does he have to be stopped at every checkpoint?
Mother files suit against Crocs {ParentDish}
Jul 8th 2008 5:50PM Parents, Crocs are just not safe for kids! Comfy, yes. Safe, no. We had a huge problem with these at a school I worked at. Kids cannot run and jump in these shoes like they should be able to on a playground. great for around the pool and beach but not for school.
The Baby Borrowers fights teen pregnancy {ParentDish}
Jul 7th 2008 5:55PM I'd love to see the other ages as well. How about changing the diapers of your parents? Learning that your parent has alzheimer's?
Staying up all night waiting for your teen to come in after breaking curfew? I think the teens should be younger and be on the show much longer. This would give them a better taste of what it is like. But whose baby would they use? That's the part I don't approve of.

The new milk jug makes its debut {ParentDish}
Jul 1st 2008 3:31PM I agree. Do we need more plastic? Has Costco changed and is now selling their organic milk in these? I hope not. It is the best buy around. Just wish it came in fat free.
