Bethesda vs. Mojang: 'Scrolls' case going to court (Joystiq)
Sep 27th 2011 7:33PM meh, I just cancelled my pre-order for Rage and Skyrim. I'll buy 'em once they drop the suit.
Shame, because I like some of Bethesda's games. I'm disappointed that the profits I've helped them make are going to wasteful, frivolous lawsuits.

Jan 7th 2010 12:56PM @omo Heh...three decades of magnetic media is a little hard to shake off. What if....what if the magnetic bat acted as a lightning rod, and the drive was struck by *lightning* at the exact moment they struck the drive? Huh? WHERE'S YOUR DATA NOW??
....kids today, with yer semiconductor storage and yer pocket-sized quarter-terrabyte computers. In my day, our notebooks were BIGGER THAN YOUR BACKPACKS, storage was measured in MEGABYTES, and our drives couldn't get within THREE STATES of a refridgerator magnet or you'd be erased so good your grandpappy'd lose his data....You darn yahooligans GET OFF MY LAN!

Dec 21st 2009 2:53PM I'd be happy if I could just rip my few UMD games to memory sticks. I wouldn't even complain (much) if I had to use my PS3 as an intermediary in this dark ritual...Though I'm sure others might disagree.

There's a battery in my car, too. But it doesn't run the car, it's just there for starter, lighting, & ignition. Once the engine is running, the alternator takes over operation of the electrical system, and recharges the battery so it'll work the next time. So it's not so much the presence of the battery that makes me unsure of what the machine is achieving...it's the lack of a detailed schematic with comprehensive energy inputs & outputs. And, were such details provided, if it appeared to demonstrate overunity, I'd only question which variables was inadvertently missed in the equation.
Unless we're defining "free energy" to mean "energy generated by a complex exchange of ambient energies into electrical energy, in which the original energy sources carry no direct financial consequence."
Free energy. Hmm...Free, as in free beer. So energy = beer. Law of conservation of beer...The total amount of beer in an isolated system remains constant over time....so a perpetual beer keg could only work perpetually if it delivered no beer to its surroundings, and it is impossible for the system to dispense more beer than was put into it. But no one would want a keg that could not deliver beer to its surroundings, therefore, the beer would be consumed over perpetual time, perpetual beer kegs are thus impossible.
Thing runs on beer. Problem solved.
