Is This 'Single Ladies' Video Too Hot for Tots? (ParentDish)
May 13th 2010 3:16PM I respectly disagree with all of you. I think the costumes were more than sufficient for a DANCE COMPETITION (leotards cover less than what they were wearing - I know from experience). They were wearing mid-thigh shorts and showing a little bit of stomach. The moves weren't overtly sexual at all (since when did a little hip-action become perverse?) Anyone who has even the most remote knowledge of dance knows the history of those kind of jerking movements and they AREN'T sexual. Western society and Christian "ideals" interpret these moves as sexual but to me they're just passionate, clean fun moves. The more you make something taboo the more taboo it becomes. The best way to battle the sexualization of children is to stop analyzing their every action for sexuality. The girls danced a great routine, were clearly having fun. The costumes were perfect for the "sassy" nature of the routine and the overall theme of the song.

May 12th 2010 10:58PM I didn't see anything wrong with the costumes. They're young entertainers putting on a show. Any sexualizing is purely on the part of the beholder. They were completely covered up and we've let our teenagers our on the street wearing less with little complaint. It's this kind of prudish nonsense that prompts children towards over sexualizing themselves later.
Hannah Teter Defends Swimsuit Photos (Fanhouse Olympics Blog)
Feb 15th 2010 11:37AM The big deal is that, although she is doing it for a charitable cause, our society is so low that we accept softcore porn as "tasteful." If she hadn't had those two strips of fabirc up top it would be a whole different story. But we joke ourselves into thinking that little fabric is "okay" and anyone who says otherwise is old fashioned or worse demeaning to women. As a woman, i'm more demeaned by Hannah Teter's spread than any man telling me to cover up.
New Book Says That Fatherhood Can Be A 'Misery' For Dads (ParentDish)
Jun 9th 2009 4:34PM My boyfriend seems very fond of the idea of having children one day. He thinks babies, toddlers and children are adorable and likes playing with them at every opportunity. I've always hated the things and I don't plan on having any (I imagine it'll become an issue in the relationship someday). I think they're annoying, disgusting and boring. Why bring a child into the world when the parent knows they won't like them? Have a kid only if you feel you will be able to love them properly.
Zagat Fast-Food Survey Ranks In-N-Out Burger No. 1 (Slashfood)
Jun 9th 2009 4:26PM I've tried both Five Guys and In-N-Out. In-N-Out wins HANDS DOWN. Five Guys' burgers are great, don't get me wrong. But in terms of quality, consistency and value it's beaten hands down by the freshly made, great tasting, cheap In-N-Out grub.
FBI Raids Apartment of Suspected Palin E-Mail Hacker (Switched)
Oct 6th 2008 8:50PM First off. I'm absolutely sick and tired of people calling this a "hacking". Hacking involves an intrusive use of programming to get ahold of the information. Sarah Palin was stupid enough to use the most common, easily guessed passwords and security questions and any moron could have guessed them if they wanted to. Maybe instead of wasting tax dollars on punishing these poor kids, we should funnel some money into education. After all, keep in mind the woman who's password was "hacked" thinks humans and dinosaurs co-existed.
Who will be deported? The immigration in videogame (AOL Latino Blog)
Feb 20th 2008 5:54PM Americans who constantly complain about immigrants taking jobs away don't really think things through, do they? I wonder how many of them read their own census surveys that state that even if every illegal immigrant (those counted and then some) were made legal residents - there would still be a huge gap in the amount of lower income jobs availible. Also the idea that "Americans" would take the jobs if they were paid more to do them is stupid. You do realize that raising the lower income wages would have an effect on the standard of living costs right? All the prices and wages would go up and nothing would change. Finally - The majority of illegal immigrants have to pay taxes, just like everyone else. As an American i'm sick and disgusted by the couple of rednecks who think the answer is to kick them out and raise the minimum wage. Why not try using some of that gray matter?
Paris Too Hardcore for the Japanese? (Gadling)
Oct 29th 2006 2:13PM Being half French and half Japanese i'm kind of borderline; however I spent much more time in Japan then I did in France and I can sincerely say that I have been a victim of the Paris syndrome. Then again...i'd prefer shopping in Paris to shopping here in Los Angeles any day.
