For Astronauts, It's A Family Affair (ParentDish)

Aug 30th 2009 9:03AM Leaving family behind for work is a fact of life for many. I was in the US Air Force for 20 years and spent months away from family while I served in Saudi Arabia and Italy. There were plenty of shorter temporary duty assignments as well.

And now, with the economy the way it is, I've had to take a job 700 miles from where my family is now. Most of my kids are grown, but I still have a 19 and 16 year old at home.

Nichole Stott is a grad of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, my own Alma Mater, BTW.

John McCain's Campaign Staffers Unload on Sarah Palin (Politics Daily)

Jun 30th 2009 7:32PM For someone commenting upon Sarah Palin's lack of intellectual curiosity and knowledge, your post is full of misspellings and grammatical errors. As near as I can tell, Palin is at least as qualified for the vice-presidency as Biden, Gore, Quayle, G.H.W. Bush, Mondale or any other VP going back a hundred years. Palin did not cost McCain the presidency. McCain did that to himself - he is NOT a conservative. I would have voted for Hillary Clinton before McCain and had to hold my nose to vote for him over Obama. Would I vote for Palin if she were to run for president? Depends on who she was running against, but I guess if she were running against a Democrat, I would have to vote for her.

President Obama Attacks FOX News (Politics Daily)

Jun 19th 2009 1:26PM Just wondering ... did you feel the same way the previous 8 years? When every network EXCEPT Fox was bashing Bush?

President Obama Attacks FOX News (Politics Daily)

Jun 19th 2009 1:20PM The most incompetent president in US history was Jimmy Carter. The vote is still out on Obama, but before he leaves office, I'm sure he'll give Carter a run for his money with sky-high deficits, record unemployment, and double digit inflation.

President Obama Attacks FOX News (Politics Daily)

Jun 19th 2009 1:16PM Hey, somebody's got to do it and nobody else is.

President Obama Attacks FOX News (Politics Daily)

Jun 19th 2009 1:14PM Maybe if the other networks were doing their jobs and not fawning over Obama like he was the Second Coming, Fox wouldn't have to be so hard on him.

With the other networks in the tank for Obama, some one has to show some journalistic integrity.

And note this: O'Reilly, Hannity and Beck are not journalists. They are commentators and paid to be opinionated.

Sarah Palin Plagiarizes Newt Gingrich? (Politics Daily)

Jun 9th 2009 3:29AM There are 107 words that make up 50% of everything we read in print and use in speech. If two people are talking about the same specific topic, the odds are that they will use similar wording and phrasing.

She should have given more attribution to Gingrich and Shirley, but I'm not certain it rises to the level of plagiarism.

BTW, when I took a speech class 6-8 years ago, the textbook singled out Biden when it discussed plagiarism, LOL!

Baby Boomers Quitting Facebook (Switched)

May 27th 2009 3:42PM I find a lot of the apps stupid like Mafia Wars - boring and it seems to me to glorify crime. I know it's supposed to just be fun, but not for me. No desire to conduct virtual crimes, no desire to join Yoville, and no desire to take any more IQ quizzes that want me to enter my cell number and charge me $9.99 to get the results. (BTW, before I took one of those, it says "Today's high score 137!" I got 10 out of 10 correct and could only get 135.

I like being able to connect with friends, especially ones I've not seen in years. But don't ask me to play your stupid games!

Condoleezza Rice Vs. 4th Grader (Politics Daily)

May 4th 2009 10:52AM I don't have a problem with the question or the answer.

The techniques used to interrogate enemy combatants were approved by Congress in 1994. Additionally, many US military members are "tortured" by our own military using these same techniques when they go through survival, escape, resistance, and evasion training.

To top it off, any investigation needs to show which Congressional leaders knew about the "aggressive" interrogation techniques. It also needs to release EVERY document, not just ones cherry picked to embarrass the Bush administration.

13 Best Jobs in Hard Times (AOL Jobs)

Mar 22nd 2009 9:39PM Education?

I'm a first year teacher. I was laid off Friday after my position was eliminated due to budget cuts. The district is looking at cutting 250 teachers next year, but I didn't even get to finish this year.

So I've applied for 8 or 10 federal jobs this weekend. I figure I've got 60 days before the loan companies come around to repossess the cars.
