Better Ways to Spend $40 Than on Pajama Jeans (WalletPop)

Weekend Movie Preview: 'True Grit,' 'Little Fockers,' 'Gulliver's Travels' (Moviefone Blog)
Dec 24th 2010 12:32AM I'll concede the new rendition of "True Grit" has the makings of an entertaining movie but I draw the line at making favorable comparisons between John Wayne and Jeff Bridges.
Mr Bridges career may well be on a roll at this time but as an American western hero icon he doen't make a pimple on John Waynes' A$$.
Three 'Deadliest Catch' Stars Abandon Ship (AOL TV)
Sep 29th 2010 5:44PM Its begining to appear that everything DISCOVERY touches finally ends up in the dumper. Before DANGEROUS CATCH it was the Toutle family of AMERICAN CHOPPER that was subjected to the same stresses and drama demanded and televised by the DISCOVERY producers. Its obvious these characters had their own personality flaws before the DISCOVERY crowd got a hold of them. Its also obvious DISCOVERY played on and encouraged arguments and personality clashes that occur in most human relationships. To play on, exaggerate and profit from these squabbles smacks of an entertainment form that would please the ancient Romans. Bread and circus for everyone. Everyone with cable anyway.
Pentathletes Will Fire Laser Guns During 2012 Olympics in London (Switched)
Aug 29th 2010 9:43AM Just another Nanny State compromise to pander to the gunophobic Brits. I'm not buying that laser pistols are cheaper to acquire and operate than air pistols. Just think of all those nasty, expensive batteries or, god forbid, those 200' long extension cords, Look at the stats. A great many more competitors are injured running than in competitive shooting and that includes REAL guns. Have you ever heard of a competitor injured at a shooting event? No you havent because it NEVER happens.
Gulf Oil Spill Likely to Kill Oil Rig Jobs, Too (AOL Jobs)
Jun 2nd 2010 2:52PM I spent 15 years in the oil business in exploration before my job and department were eliminated by "Corporate downsizing".
I worked onshore the entire time. I was able to recognize a thought process common to most, if not all middle managment personnel in that time.
Top levels of management always call for safety at any cost with no regard to be paid to the amount of time it takes to do the job correctly and safely.
Middle management individuals, on the other hand, are the aggressive "do it now" kind of guys that are pushing the men and equipment to get the job done cheaper and faster. This attitude and behavour are rewarded, when successfull, with promotions, increased responsibilities and higher pay and benefits.
While it was never said out loud the attitude exhibited by nearly all supervisors in oil exploratiopn was "safety is important. Just don't let it slow you down".
