Report: NSC decrees all cell phone driving as dangerous, cites 30 studies (Autoblog)
Mar 30th 2010 7:47PM Nelly,
That doesn't have anything to do with paying attention. Driving home from work, or anywhere you go on a scheduled basis, has to do with the action being repeated over and over again. You've done it so many times and on the same route that you may not remember one drive home on one day from any other. Accidents, detours, etc. will be issues you remember.

Mar 30th 2010 7:38PM I may be one of the few people who doesn't have a cell phone. I've had them and found that I rarely ever used it. Months would go by without my even charging it. I have a home and work phone where I can be reached. I actually enjoy the luxury of NOT being "on call" all the time, especially while I'm driving. I've also been hit twice by people talking on their cell and not watching where they are going.
I heard a statistic that said there are 6.8 billion people in the world and there are 5 billion cell phones.
As far as I'm concerned, ban them from being used while driving.
Autoblog Long-Term Garage Introduction: 2010 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT (Autoblog)
Mar 30th 2010 6:57PM That is one BORING looking car, inside and out! The seats look flat as park benches.
Subaru can't seem to find a happy medium between boring, geriatric styling and off-the-wall silliness.

Mar 14th 2010 10:19PM Now I know where all of my Legos went! The re-colored them and used them to make the inside of this thing. Looks like a giant, chrome-laden turd!

ThrottleGate: Toyota will now send needed pedal repair components directly to dealers (Autoblog)
Jan 30th 2010 5:59PM Either most of you are too young to remember, or you have selective memory, because Ford has done this all LONG BEFORE Toyota had problems. And they did almost NOTHING to fix the problems. Exploding Pintos ("Oh, we'll put a piece of plastic between the gas tank and differential as long as it doesn't cost more than a penny a car"), Mustangs with drop-in fuel tanks (the top of the tank is the floor of the trunk), Crown Vics/Grand Marquis still being built today with fuel tanks in the rear crush zone?
What's a few roasted cops or old golfers when they get rear-ended?
The not-so Big Three is FAR from being without fault! And there have been many more injuries and deaths because of those faults.
Mean Green: Tommy Kaira slams Toyota Prius and Honda Insight (Autoblog)
Jan 4th 2010 10:27PM I've deduced from his grasp of the English language (or lack thereof) that mike is about 15 years old. Once upon a time, his mommy let him drive her H3 around the high school parking lot, so now he wants a Hummer and calls everything he doesn't agree with "gay".
If you want a hummer, ask your 14-year-old "girlfriend".
Most Popular Pet Names of 2009 (Pawnation OLD)
Jan 4th 2010 5:31PM My 4 cats have names that make them sound like sitcom actresses from the 1950s and 1960s; Hazel (cream tabby), Gladys (Calico), Lucy (gray tabby with white boots and bib) and Rosemary (brown Mackeral tabby). All were shelter cats. Hazel and Gladys are 13 and not realted but adopted at the same time. Lucy and Rosemary are sisters and are 5.
Detroit Preview: BMW Concept ActiveE set to amp up 1 Series (Autoblog Green)
Dec 20th 2009 1:44AM pnorby, MINI 411 -
As a 2007 Mini Cooper S owner, I do have to agree with Nixon in some ways. I drive my Mini not only for the fun, but because I'm not spending tons of money to have that fun. But, BMW seems to only TRULY deal with the economy of the Mini line, NOT the BMW line. Granted, we don't expect a BMW to be really frugal (they do all require premium full, Minis included), but they could put a lot more effort into making their cars more eco-friendly. When I go to the Mini/BMW dealer and see the truly lousy mileage and the associated Gas Guzzler taxes ($1,000 - $3,000) on the BMW window stickers, I do wonder how much of an effort they are really putting forth. I guess they play to they "if I can afford the car, I can afford the gas" crowd. It's not a matter of affording the gas, it's that I don't WANT TO WASTE IT! Why does an efficient car have to be a CHEAP car? I would LOVE it if they started building a hybrid Mini or BMW. I'd be first in line. But I'm not holding my breath waiting for that to happen.
