If four-month-olds are being denied health insurance coverage, is anything sacred? (WalletPop)

Oct 13th 2009 11:44AM My husband had open heart surgery 3 years ago. He was only 53 but had advanced coronary artery disease and needed a quad bypass. When we got the bills, and we did have insurance coverage, we were told that they wouldn't pay for the anesthesia because it was out of the coverage group. I'm sorry, but I can't imagine not using anesthesia for surgery!! This was incredibly stupid and this is the kind of thing that the insurance companies play games with. We were denied a number of times until our HR person got involved. They finally paid for half but I still got stuck with the other half. It was ridiculous! There is no reason for anyone to not be given coverage for this and many other problems.
As for you nay-sayers. It must be nice not to need your insurance or be wealthy enough or healthy enough not to have a problem. I wouldn't know. All I know is the insurance companies come off as pure extortionists and will do anything in their power not to pay for a claim.

Aug 1st 2008 4:21PM This would be a great thing on a college campus where you have classes so far apart! What about in a city and you don't have a car. Would get you further then taking a bus or taxi. There are loads of uses for these. Get outside your comfort zone and think!!

Aug 1st 2008 4:18PM Get a clue. Just because you can stand does not mean you can walk. You need a bit of enlightenment there P. Smith. This would be a Godsend for a friend of mine that has a back problem that makes walking a problem but she could use this! You need to back up a bit and rethink your thought!!
