Readers' Sad Songs: No. 1 (Spinner)

Jun 24th 2007 9:20PM Sandy,
I am so sorry for your loss. Being a parent, I can only begin to imagine what you must be going through and hope that I never have to experience it myself, my heart goes out to you. May you find some form of solace to help you get through each day.
God Bless.

Readers' Sad Songs: No. 1 (Spinner)

Jun 24th 2007 8:25AM I must agree, like many of us, that there were many songs overlooked when this list was compiled; either through oversight, bias or just pure lack of research. Anyways, here is my input towards the list.
1) Of course, Eric is at the top where he should be, period.
2) Stevie Ray Vaughan - Life Without You
3) SRV again with - Riveria Paradise (find the live version on the "Live Forever" CD, a compilation by Carlos Santana released by his Guts and Grace label; also including songs by Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley and John Coltrane)
4) Kenny Wayne Shepherd - While We Cry
5) Reba McEntire - The Greatest Man I Never Knew; O had the opportunity to see her perform live about a decade ago and part way through the song I found myself in tears, at the time my father was still alive. I find now that he no longer is, I cannot bear to listen to the song at all. If there is an after-life then he certainly is in a better place and I know he knows how we feel about him. But as some people have mentioned regarding the Mike and the Mechanics song it is better to take care of these things in "The Living Years" (add that too my list also, please).
Of course, there are many other if I sit here and think hard enough but those are the ones that really stand out for me at this point in my life.

May 23rd 2007 11:02PM Who invented the web in 1989? And all this time I thought it was an evolution of a much earlier undertaking, the DOD's ARPANET.

May 23rd 2007 10:39PM OMG, No gas grills, snow blowers or lawn mowers without the PLL, hmmm. Check again Horowitz, not discounting it's a great discovery for other applications though. Credit cards, speakers, computers (heard of Eniac) and certainly casinos have been around much longer than 25 years (or 1972, which ever you prefer); sorry Mrs. Booth. People, please check your facts.
